The Best Independent Living Communities in Fulton County, GA

"I visited the Parc, and they have adequate parking. They have independent living and assisted living. It is a gorgeous facility -- very convenient -- and it’s right off Junction Perry. It’s expensive and upscale. They have a grand piano that anybody can play, and I think they have people come in and play. The staff was very nice. It was beautiful and lovely. They offer skilled nursing, live in service, and transportation. For what they offer, I think they are excellent. "

"We walked around Sanford Estates, and we talked to a few of the residents, but I didn't talk to any employees. I got there after people that do the tours had left, but I talked to several of the residents there, and they were very happy there. The place was very pretty. I liked the fact that they had balconies on the unit so my sister could sit outside but not be outside. I saw the dining hall; it was amazing. The meals looked amazing. The people seemed to be enjoying themselves. One of the ladies that I talked to told me that it was very independent, and that they could come and go. She was just coming back from visiting her daughter, so it appeared more independent than the other place. The only thing that concerned me is that we just walked in the front door of the main building, and nobody approached us to find out what we were doing there. So that would be one of my questions for them. My friend and I were together, and we sat in the common area in the lobby, and nobody ever came over and said, "Can we help you? What are you doing here?" That would concern me if my sister wandered off for some reason, or a stranger came in. I could have walked over and got on the elevator and gone upstairs and nobody seemed to notice."

"The person who toured us Village Park Peachtree Corners was the activities director. The marketing person was not there, so it was a very different visit. The activities director kept apologizing to us. It was fine. She did the best she could, and she was able to answer all our questions, but it was a little bit negative because it was the first place we ever visited. It was weird. What I didn’t like was that the cottages and the bungalows are right near a highway, so when you sit outside on your patio, all you're hearing is noise. The activities director was able to show us some of the apartments but we kept telling her that that was not what we were interested in. We were interested in the bungalows and the cottages. One of the residents did allow people to come see hers, so that was very helpful. She was very lovely. She let people tour through her cottage."

"Vickery Rose Retirement Community was clean and superb. The person was very attentive. It was a nice tour and a nice facility. It's for people 55 and older. I like that all the meals and everything were included in one price. The accommodations and the amenities were on point. The pricing wasn't for me though. I'm just looking for some temporary housing because I'm in the process of buying a townhouse or a condo. That was going to just be a temporary spot and the pricing was a little bit for my budget. I'm a young 60 and a lot of the residents there were a little older, which I didn't mind, but right now I prefer to have a standalone condo. It's not ruled out, so my goal, if I can't get anything moving into a condo or townhouse by then, I might pick them up and just rent until I find something. It's a little pricier than what I wanted to pay, but it was good pricing. It's reasonable for what they were offering. They included the meals, the Internet, the housekeeping services, and all the amenities. Everybody was nice and my grandson loved it. Most places 55 and older discourage grandkids from visiting, but here, they welcome the grandkids and even had an arcade room, which was very impressive. They're friendlier to grandkids. They had the ice cream machine and popcorn machine for the kids. That was nice that they incorporated that in that facility. Being in a pandemic and limited to their grandkids for a year, most seniors want to be able to entertain their grandkids on a weekend, to visit and spend the night, and that place was very accommodating. What keeps grandparents young is having their grandkids around. They had a chef, and it's almost like a cruise line setup. It's state-of-the-art. I went to the dining room and they had everything laid out. I was impressed with that. It's almost like a cruise line without taking a cruise, and it's better than a cruise. I can go and feel like I'm on a cruise ship but not floating on the water. That's what I felt when I was there like I was on an extended vacation type of thing on one of the five-star cruise lines."

"I liked Chambrel for my father because they were clean. They're very beautiful and they provide everything. They're just very expensive. We just can't afford them. We'll recommend it to people who can afford it. "

"My mom is a current resident at the Holly House: Ms Ebbie just retired on this past Friday , Marie is the caregiver now, and has done a wonderful job of caring for my mom. I refer to the women there as the Golden girls they are so sweet , I highly reccomend this home. Minister J Hunter"

"Atria North Point was a very nice place. It cost a little more than we wanted to spend, but the woman who showed us around was very nice. I loved the programs, and I liked the feel of the place, but the rooms didn't have modern kitchens. They said they had had a meeting that morning about upgrading, so I guess they realized that this was something that they probably would have to do, especially since they're more expensive than some of these other places. They had one meal a day, and we ate there. It wasn't that the food wasn't good; it was just that it was a little rich. There was nothing on the menu except fried things. Those were the few negative things, but there were a lot of very positive things that I thought looked good. "

"I visited Parc at Duluth. I saw some of the apartments, and they were very nice. We wanted at least 2 bathrooms, and a lot of the others don't have that. "

They all seemed to care about the patients. They had everything they needed there. They had a salon and a garden plenty of places to walk around. They had dining options, too. It seemed very clean."

"Cottonwood Estates was a very nice place that had all of the things we were looking for, except for continuing care program from independent to assisted, but you could buy assistance to come in. They changed management frequently last year. Other than that, I would have chosen it. The facilities were very nice, the dining rooms are centrally located, and you can get from one place to another fairly easily."

"We toured Canterfield of Kennesaw. My mother-in-law just liked it. When she walked in, she said she felt like she was at home. She felt good. She just has a feeling, and like the other place she didn't care for, but the Canterfield, when she walked in, she said, "Oh, I like this place." It was nice. The people were very friendly. The room was lovely, and they all had things to do, so we liked it. They had movies every day. They have bingo, puzzle time, and games. They have an arts and crafts room, happy hour, and trivia. They have a daily workout. They take a trip to Walmart. You can just sign up, and they'll take you shopping. Then they have church services for a couple of different denominations. They have a library, a puzzle room, a barber, and a beauty shop."

"Not only is the atmosphere and food excellent there are always great activities to participate in such as various games, trips, and exercise classes. Not only is it good from a health standpoint but also to help keep your mental health in tact."
