The Best Independent Living Communities in Cobb County, GA

"We visited Silver Comet Village's independent living community in Powder Springs, and it's a little small for the price. We love their kitchen area and bedroom, but the living area is very small, so it won't work well for our mother. The whole area and the community are very beautiful, though. It has a very nice-sized kitchen area, and a beautiful bathroom with a seat in the shower. They have a beautiful carpet, brand new wall paintings, and pictures. The entrance is also very secure for seniors to go into. The staff was very friendly. It's an open-concept type of community where there are different little games that the seniors play, and all types of events that they put on for the seniors. The outdoor landscaping is also very beautiful. It has a very nice curb appeal."

"We loved Celebration Village. I liked the options in the club area. There were several rooms for different activities. There's a craft room, a theater room, an activity room where they do Wii bowling, a treatment room, and a social room for maybe card games or board games. It's like a center square. There's a coffee shop and a casual lunch place. The dining room is all connected to this sort of town square. It's very nice and very social. The units were very large with plenty of space. We looked at two-bedroom options. The only drawback was that the second bedroom has a tub, which to me makes absolutely no sense. If you're coming in as a 70- or 80-year-old, a tub isn't really a wise choice. They should have had both bathrooms with a walk-in shower or a walk-in tub. Other than that, I thought everything was positive. All appliances are there. The kitchen is fully appointed. It's a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator. The staff was extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating. There's a courtyard and a heated pool."

"I visited Hammond Glen, which I found very impressive in a number of ways. I particularly liked the location since it's in Sandy Springs where I live. Everybody was very friendly. The assistant manager gave me a quick tour of the place, and I liked a lot of the amenities that were available there, but they seemed to be fairly typical of other facilities that I have visited. They're very competitive, actually, because they provide the same kind of facilities and want to satisfy their clients. "

"I'm moving there probably in October. It's small and very friendly. The layout was efficient and easy to maneuver. Utilities, meals, trash service, linen service, beauty parlor, all kinds of activities are included. They have exercise, art, church, outings, and they provide transportation."

"The Holbrook of Woodstock was outstanding, their facilities, and the people there. Kelly was the Community Relations Director who took us around. It's a beautiful facility, people stopped and said hello to us. They have lots of amenities. We liked that facility. You can't go wrong, everything is there. It's a beautiful facility. The people were just lovely and very welcoming. This is a hard time for us to make this decision, so it was nice to feel very comfortable there. The facility is gorgeous. They had a beauty/barber salon. They had two chairs for pedicures. You could get a manicure and get your haircut. You could get massages. They had physical therapists that could come in. They would address things that we would be looking for."

"I visited Sunrise of Huntcliff Summit. It's a lovely facility, and their activities seemed really client directed. They were telling me about the opportunities, and if there was something that I wanted to do that wasn't on the list, I could certainly get it put on there. I must have run into a dozen residents. Nobody asked them or prompted them, and they just came up and told me how pleased they were and how wonderful they thought this environment was. They have a library, a book club, gardening programs, a heated indoor pool, an exercise room, on-site physical therapy, and a hair salon. There was so much. Anything that you could imagine that would be good for a facility to have, they had it."

"Heartis Buckhead was extremely nice. Maybe even nicer than the other facility I visited in the same price range, which is right on the edge of doable for me. It was a high-rise building. So, the apartments were absolutely beautiful with great views. All the amenities were nice. The person who helped us was more than helpful. They had a beautiful brochure, so it was just a very first-class place. The only negative thing was it was expensive, but the staff was wonderful. They spent a lot of time with us. It's a brand new building so it was very nice."

"We like Renaissance on Peachtree a lot. It was clean and it was kind of set back off of the busy highway, so it was nice. The only drawback was the hallways were fairly narrow. It felt more like hotel hallways. We didn't meet the staff there. We just had one person who took us around and she was very nice. They had a salon. They had a place in the lobby where you can get some food. In addition to the restaurant, they had a place there where you can get down and get coffee and snacks. We just walked by the dining facilities and it looked nice. The bedrooms for us were a little small. The place looked very nice and very clean. The restaurants were close by, but not close so you can walk to them. You can easily drive within a mile."

"Vickery Rose Retirement Community was friendly and welcoming. The manager was very kind and open. The person at the front desk was also very kind. They gave me a calendar of activities, and it seemed like they had a variety of things to do each day that involved the mind, body, and spirit. They had physical activities, mental activities, social activities, game rooms, and a theater. There were lots of opportunities for self care, like getting your hair done, your feet done, or getting therapy. The apartments were good size. They were bigger than some I've seen. I could see myself living there."

"I visited Dunwoody Pines for my brother, and I was impressed. It seemed clean and looked fine to me. "

"Brookdale was nice. It was a little bit older but looked very well kept. It had a nice dining room and nice, inviting common areas. The person that worked with us seemed very interested. The room was a little small but nice overall and in a very good location. The professional staff was very good. We met the person who does the food preparation. He engaged us for quite a while about how he looks at the menu, prepares the food, and takes the interest of the people living there to heart. "

"I will be moving into Sanford Estates. What I liked best was just the overall community. I visited them twice. The living space is very good. The community space is excellent. The people were very nice and attentive. I enjoyed it. The location for me is fine. I wanted to stay in Roswell. The staff and the members of the community that I met were very nice and engaging. The rooms were adequate, very nice, and large. There was an opportunity to make changes. If you needed or wanted to, they would help assist with any of those types of things. The living atmosphere was comfortable. The dining area was perfect. It was large and airy. They had a space for family private dining. The menu looked good. 24/7, you could get snacks, water, coffee or whatever have you. It was excellent. It looked clean to me. I saw staff working. From what I could tell, it was a very clean environment. They did not have a pool, but they had other amenities. There was a library, a hair salon, and various activity rooms."

"The staff is great. Food is very good. Lots of activities. Very nice place. Mom is very happy, making new friends, getting lots more activity on a day to day basis. Also pricing is very reasonable compared to other facilities. Compares very favorably to places that cost twice as much. "
