The Best Independent Living Communities in Cobb County, GA

"We loved Celebration Village. I liked the options in the club area. There were several rooms for different activities. There's a craft room, a theater room, an activity room where they do Wii bowling, a treatment room, and a social room for maybe card games or board games. It's like a center square. There's a coffee shop and a casual lunch place. The dining room is all connected to this sort of town square. It's very nice and very social. The units were very large with plenty of space. We looked at two-bedroom options. The only drawback was that the second bedroom has a tub, which to me makes absolutely no sense. If you're coming in as a 70- or 80-year-old, a tub isn't really a wise choice. They should have had both bathrooms with a walk-in shower or a walk-in tub. Other than that, I thought everything was positive. All appliances are there. The kitchen is fully appointed. It's a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator. The staff was extremely professional, extremely knowledgeable, and extremely accommodating. There's a courtyard and a heated pool."

"I'm moving there probably in October. It's small and very friendly. The layout was efficient and easy to maneuver. Utilities, meals, trash service, linen service, beauty parlor, all kinds of activities are included. They have exercise, art, church, outings, and they provide transportation."

"Heartis Buckhead was extremely nice. Maybe even nicer than the other facility I visited in the same price range, which is right on the edge of doable for me. It was a high-rise building. So, the apartments were absolutely beautiful with great views. All the amenities were nice. The person who helped us was more than helpful. They had a beautiful brochure, so it was just a very first-class place. The only negative thing was it was expensive, but the staff was wonderful. They spent a lot of time with us. It's a brand new building so it was very nice."

"Vickery Rose Retirement Community was friendly and welcoming. The manager was very kind and open. The person at the front desk was also very kind. They gave me a calendar of activities, and it seemed like they had a variety of things to do each day that involved the mind, body, and spirit. They had physical activities, mental activities, social activities, game rooms, and a theater. There were lots of opportunities for self care, like getting your hair done, your feet done, or getting therapy. The apartments were good size. They were bigger than some I've seen. I could see myself living there."

"Brookdale was nice. It was a little bit older but looked very well kept. It had a nice dining room and nice, inviting common areas. The person that worked with us seemed very interested. The room was a little small but nice overall and in a very good location. The professional staff was very good. We met the person who does the food preparation. He engaged us for quite a while about how he looks at the menu, prepares the food, and takes the interest of the people living there to heart. "

"I will be moving into Sanford Estates. What I liked best was just the overall community. I visited them twice. The living space is very good. The community space is excellent. The people were very nice and attentive. I enjoyed it. The location for me is fine. I wanted to stay in Roswell. The staff and the members of the community that I met were very nice and engaging. The rooms were adequate, very nice, and large. There was an opportunity to make changes. If you needed or wanted to, they would help assist with any of those types of things. The living atmosphere was comfortable. The dining area was perfect. It was large and airy. They had a space for family private dining. The menu looked good. 24/7, you could get snacks, water, coffee or whatever have you. It was excellent. It looked clean to me. I saw staff working. From what I could tell, it was a very clean environment. They did not have a pool, but they had other amenities. There was a library, a hair salon, and various activity rooms."

"The staff is great. Food is very good. Lots of activities. Very nice place. Mom is very happy, making new friends, getting lots more activity on a day to day basis. Also pricing is very reasonable compared to other facilities. Compares very favorably to places that cost twice as much. "

"The people at The Holbrook Decatur were understanding. It was well-facilitated and supported. There was a great supporting staff, and they kept the residents involved in activities. The apartments were nice-sized, up-to-date, very accommodating, and very clean. I wasn't able to see a non-furnished room as one would walk into it if they lived there."

"We loved The Lodge at Bridgemill. We really did like it. It had the food facility with it. It had everything, and that place was almost filled up with people. The people that worked there were wonderful. The lady that worked with us, I just loved her to death. They had an Olympic size swimming pool, all kinds of games, and game rooms, and they went on outings. You name it, they do it. If you were within 10 miles of your doctors, you could make an appointment, and they would take you to your doctor and bring you home. They would take you to the grocery stores, shopping, or something. It was absolutely the perfect set up. They had all kinds of activities geared towards women and men. At The Lodge, they furnished your washer & dryer, stove, refrigerator, microwave, all those things you wouldn't ever had to buy. I had all good remarks for The Lodge. It was such a friendly, nice, and warm place. "

"My father is in Cottonwood Estates. It is a very nice, affordable, convenient place. The people are wonderful. They have trips all the time and three or four meals a day. They have all kinds of amenities, including a library, billiards, a kitchen to cook in if they feel like it, and all kinds of transportation and trips. The rooms are very nice, clean, and perfect. "

"Village Park at Spalding was a beautiful place, and it reminded me of a resort. They have open walkways, an outdoor pool, a cafe, a place for happy hour, and dining. It was very nice. They also have the assisted living license. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, helpful, showed us around, and did everything. They have villas and cottages, which are separate homes that are set out on the property. They also have building apartments."

"My mother is moving into Village Park Senior Living. The facilities were the nicest of any of the ones that I visited. Their amenities were nicer. It was just a superior quality of construction and presentation. They had libraries, a pool, a nice sunroom, and lots of green space. The rooms were nicer and had balconies. The marketing staff was very knowledgeable, nice, receptive, and easy to work with. We saw a lot of the food coming out of the kitchen, and it looked delicious. They have three restaurants onsite, so there are lots of options to choose from for dining. This location was more expensive than the others that I looked at, but their occupancy was at 98%. That says something about the facility."

"I've been in Parc of Duluth for four years. The food is wonderful, and we have a big menu. The staff is wonderful. They couldn't be better and anticipate our needs before we need them. It's very clean and organized, and I'm happy here. "

"I toured Ashwood Meadows Gracious Retirement Living. They were very friendly. The woman who was in charge there just took me on tour. We went around. I had several questions. One of the things wherever I move, I do want them to have a pool table. They've got a library. They've got a garden at the back. She showed me a nice two bedroom, which is what I'm looking for. She took me through the whole place. I had lunch with them. They had Asian food. It was the best beef and broccoli I have ever put in my mouth. I don't know what she did but the meat was fantastic. I was impressed with the way the building was laid out. It's nice. It has kind of an atrium through the center. They have pretty much anything you want even to cover parking if you want to pay for that. It's my opinion that they're all about the same price. It's also my opinion that they're a little expensive for a two-bedroom. Everybody spoke. I mean, everybody from the guy that was doing the paving outside to the maintenance. They've got a happy hour on Friday. They have a bar there that works for me."
