This is a long term care facility providing services for persons with chronic mental illness. (The sister facility next door, Skokie Meadows I, provides skilled nursing services). Skokie Meadows is just off the main road and backs up to a safe residential area. Parking can be a challenge at times. Outdoor space, which is a modest sized patio area with seating, is provided for residents and is well utilized as most residents smoke. The interior of the building is always clean, but it is an older building and lacks aesthetic charm. There are common areas that are sufficient to meet resident needs, but since most residents do not spend all their time in their rooms, common areas can be full or crowded at times. Rooms are average to slightly above average size and most are shared. Finishes and fixtures are modest but adequate. The food is average and most residents do not complain. Staff provides kind, compassionate and skilled care aimed at maximizing resident's abilities. There is a real commitment demonstrated by most staff to wholeheartedly serving their population of residents. Coordination with psychiatric physicians by care staff is generally well done and effective at helping meet resident needs.
