My husband has been at the assisted living facility of Charter Senior Living of Rockford for about a month now. The staff is very nice, and it seems like a very happy place. I have nothing against it, except that it's a little too far away for me to drive. I have to drive through town to get there, a 10 mile drive through a lot of traffic, and I don't like that part. As far as the care, though, he's getting good care there. They just don't do physical therapy, and I want him somewhere that does physical therapy. His living space is fine, and he has plenty of room. He has a room by himself. I think you can get a shared room, too. It would cut down the price a lot if he had a roommate, which I'm thinking about, too. That's easier than moving him. I've tried the food myself, and it was fine. It was good, but it wasn't the best thing I've ever had to eat. I only tried it a couple of times, though. I'm not usually there at meal time to even see what he eats. I know one time I was there, and it was hot dogs, which I'm not complaining about because I eat a hot dog once in a while myself. They have a little basket with snacks in it, and they look like nice, healthy snacks for the residents. I told my husband he could take one if he wanted something for later. I've been taking him snacks, too, but I thought we didn't need to since they provide them there. Sometimes he goes to bingo, and I even went with him once, and it was really a lot of fun. I enjoyed it. They take him to church services, too, because he's a Christian and goes to church. I didn't think they took him out of his wheelchair to walk him. They push him down for lunch and to the meals every time, so he doesn't really get any physical therapy that I can think of. They may have started taking him for walks a couple of times a day now. At least, I asked them if they would, because he's not going to get better if he doesn't get out of his wheelchair. He can stand, but his balance is bad, so he has a walker in his room. The place is pricey. I'm paying $7,000 a month, so I've been kind of looking for another place.

I toured Charter Senior Living of Rockford. It's a nice facility. The lady who assisted me was very friendly. Her name was Ann, and she was very helpful, spent a lot of time with me, and was very knowledgeable. They have some limited gardening available that the people can do, and you can substitute meals at the time of meals. The rooms were a nice size. It's got a fairly large property. It's a nice place, but it has nothing special, and I wanted to look for more.

My friend has been in Charter Senior Living of Rockford for over a year now. They pretty much meet his needs. They give him extra help if he needs it and be safe if he needs to be watched 24 hours a day. They get to have their personal belongings and take whatever they can. It's very nice and it's private. They have their own space. They seem to be very well equipped on what their needs are. The meal preparation is good; their food is very adequate. They have activities, and it's up to them whether they want to go or not. They have cookouts patio, bingo, bowling, and spiritual things. They have different things like yesterday, the girls from my church came over and sang gospel songs to them.
