The apartment at The Martha Washington was pristine. It was beautiful. The only issue was they did not have a one-bedroom available so we looked at a two-bedroom and even though it was beautiful, it was above my friend's price point. I'm in real estate and I constantly am looking at properties for clients and this was beautiful. It was very clean and looked brand new. We met with the director who was wonderful and I had set up an appointment ahead of time, so other than her, during Covid, we didn't get a chance to meet anybody else. Most of it is independent living. It seemed like they were all very engaged. This facility offered a lot of independent activities meaning the residents didn't need anybody's help and they were done in a group. They had arts, movie nights, a salon, an exercise facility, an art room, and an outdoor patio area.

The Martha Washington had everything, but my mother wanted more where she could go sit outside. There was no garden or anything over there. It looked fine, but it wasn't as modern as some of the other ones. She wasn't thrilled with the food and stuff that they had there. It was kind of dark and wasn't that lit up or cheery. They had crafts and all the basic stuff you could do, there was a bus you could take on, and the people were nice. It was just gloomy, and they just basically have parking that surrounds them. The chef was nice, though.

The staff is helpful here in Martha Washington. If we can’t do something, they try to help. That is part of their job. My room is spacious, and I have my own bathroom. They have a nice little area outside like a park, and they also have a clinic. They have card games, but I do not play card games.

I liked The Martha Washington very much. It was very homey in its decoration. The people were very friendly and they said hello when you're in the hallway. They seemed to be high functioning. It might sound snobbish, but it made it a nice place and these were the people you would like to be acquainted. I visited a friend of mine there and she had a studio. It was very lovely with a view of the garden. They had a beautiful garden surrounding it. They had nice common areas like the library, a dining room and a coffee area. I would recommend it to others.
