Senior Suites of Kelvyn Park

I visited the Senior Suites of Kelvyn Park's independent living community. They showed me a model room that has 2 rooms and a kitchen, and it is small. The bathroom was in the bedroom. The best feature was the kitchen, but I didn't like the fact that when you open the door, you're right there in the kitchen. It was nice, though. It has a nice stove and refrigerator. It wasn't large or anything, but it was enough and manageable. You couldn't put a table or anything in there. To prepare food, you had to go around the counter, I guess. The living room was also right there and wasn't very big. It's like the size of a cubicle for an office. The bedroom was a tad larger than that. It could hold a queen-size bed comfortably and maybe a dresser, but I was not impressed by it. The person who gave the tour said they had apartments that were on the other side of the parking lot, but she didn't show me those. I don't know if the people who assisted me were knowledgeable, but they just weren't sharing that information with me. I knew they said that they had other regular apartments, and I asked about them, but they did not let me see any. Other than that, the place was clean. The parking area was also nice and large.

I toured Senior Suites of Kelvyn Park, and I liked that one. It was really nice. The lady that gave me the tour was very nice. She was very personable. I kind of wish I could have moved there because that one's a better location, but she only had a smaller place. It was clean and the building was well-kept, and the neighborhood seemed really nice, and I think it was close to where you could go shopping. The lady that I spoke with, who's the residency coordinator, is very, very sweet. I think they had exercise, they had a place to eat, a cafeteria, and exercise equipment there. I believe they had laundry facilities where you could do your laundry, and maybe they could take you to the grocery store.

Knowing that we would be in the Chicago area, we decided to go and see the Senior Suites of Kelvyn Park assisted living facility. We've always liked that area - and our aunt had expressed that she liked it as well. Our family has members spread through Illinois, so this location would be ideal for visiting her. We were shown all of the common areas, all of which were really nice. The grounds were all well manicured - with plenty of areas for residents to enjoy. We could see that it would be a great place to spend quality time. There were plenty of scheduled and non-scheduled activities to choose from. They also encourage participation in exercise daily, and go on walks and excursions. The dining room was really nice - as were all of the communal areas. The lunch meal we saw looked really great. The snacks offered included everything from baked goods (geared toward health) to fresh fruits and vegetables. Despite the fact that they were made to be healthy, they all looked really good. The exercise facilities were quite nice, with many options, including yoga and other classes, with some machines also available. The residents here looked very content in their living environment and were well cared for by kind and compassionate staff.
