My family needed to place my father into a nursing home. He had lost a leg up to the knee due to gangreen and was growing increasingly violent and angry at home. It came to the point where he was a danger to himself and others. His doctor recommended Clark Mannor and overall we are all pleased with the facility. The staff is very professional and well trained. They are capable of handling my father just fine and he has not had any angry outbursts since he was placed there. The place is kept clean and he is taken to all his doctor's appointments by the staff there. He even gets a small allowance to spend as he pleases. The staff was also incredibly helpful about taking care of the monthly payments. He had been paying the house payments and the social worker there helped my mother set up the nessessary paperwork for the spousal inprovishment act. This way he was still able to pay the house payments every month and stay there.

I visited this facility and was impressed with the building's exterior. The first floor interior was adequately decorated. However, the four other floors were quite unpleasant, occasional odors of urine and feces were noted, the residents mentioned the facility was noticeably cheap with meals. I did withness a few cockroaches in one of the rooms and was informed by a few residents that the facility has several mice and recently had bedbugs. Overall, I was not pleased with this facility and do not recommend to others.

At first glance I would have recommended this facility based on the first floor lobby which is decorated nicely and then on the first floor with its lovely (and clean) floors and the dining room which looks a little like a bistro. However, when I went up in the elevator to one of its four floors, the aesthetics were quite different. Upon leaving the lift, there was an immediate whiff of bad smells, such as urine. The floors were not that clean, although there were at least two aides that I saw cleaning them. Unlike the lobby, the activity room on the floor had little about it that was warm or welcoming. Residents who I spoke to rated the food as "god awful," to "so so," with the consensus leaning toward the former. The staff seemed quite nice and kind to the residents. There is free parking which is a plus in this populated Rogers Park neighborhood and a patio. The facility is easy to get to by public transportation and is close to stores and restaurants.
