My mother was at another well known facility in WPBch. She has end stage dementia. We are from Palm Beach County but had moved to Georgia almost 4 years ago. Caring for my Mama became almost impossible for me so I placed her in what I thought was a wonderful, caring and attentive Catholic Memory Care. Due to Covid and my own physical issues I could not visit her until this past may. I was devastated! They put her at a table in a wheelchair all day! No interaction or any type of human compassion! Since moving her immediately to Heartland, my mother laughs, feeds herself and is a joy to all. She has already gained 4 lbs. Heartland and it's employees have given her spirit back! They are truly loving, compassionate and attentive to her every need! My Mama was living (existing)in shear hell. Because of Heartland she remains with us today as the Mama I know, loving, funny and strong. We are truly blessed.

This disgusting place sent my dad to the hospital with MERSA. His foot was badly infected and Friday the doctor said it “wasn’t that bad”. Monday my father was admitted to the hospital with a bad bad infection. Everything about this place is horrible. The employees are there to babysit poorly and collect a paycheck. Zero cares about the patients. My dad had to sit and wait hours for any request. The withheld real food for the few several days even though it was discussed at the staff meeting there was zero reason for him to be on a liquid diet. The whole place smells like urine. Beware, send your loved ones elsewhere

My dad's phone was out of order for 2 weeks. Never fixed. I was always told they were working on it each and every time I called. Due to Covid, we couldn't visit. Also, despite numerous requests the doctor NEVER responded to our calls.

I went to this facility 2 days post surgery for a distal femur fracture and to begin PT. I arrived at 9:30pm and was put in a room with another patient who was watching tv with a loud volume. I asked if I could receive a pain pill that was prescribed and to turn down the volume so I can sleep. Between the tv volume and the constant chatter of employees and buzzers going off I could not possibly fall asleep. I was never offered any leg positioning support & the pain pill arrived 2 hours later. By this time I was miserable and wanted to leave. Was told I could not leave unless I signed a form, and I would not be allowed to take my medical records with me.I arranged for transportation out of there at 6am. A toxic environment with sarcastic and useless support. I was told I was unreasonable. If you are looking for a comfortable and caring environment keep looking.

I had to put 1 star to be able to leave a review. This place deserves a zero. This is the worst facility I have ever had to deal with. They do not do their jobs, they ave no compassion for their patients and no matter who you complain to, the problems are never corrected properly or timely. My mother in law was admitted on July 5, 2017 and was on her 4th bedsore by the beginning of October. The staff never discovered the sores, they were always found and brought to their attention by a member of the family. She wasn’t being changed in a timely manner and she wasn’t being repositioned in a timely manner. The staff do not read the chart or familiarize themselves with the patient before they make insensitive, incompetent calls to the family that cause emotional distress. My mother in law has cancer that has metastasized to the base of her windpipe causing her to speak barely above a whisper. The nurse asked us “how long has she had the sore throat!” I asked her if she had her chart in front of her then instructed her to read it. She then saw the cancer and proceeded to ask us if she was on Hospice. I asked her to continue to read the chart. Her response was “oh.” We have a picture of a diaper that is so soaked and wet until it looks heavy enough to break a window if you threw it! You ask questions, nobody ever knows anything, nobody ever has any answers; you follow the chain of command all the way up to the facility administrator and you still don’t get help. She doesn’t get seen by the doctor on a regular basis because she is long term. I’m told the nurse practitioner sees her but she doesn’t make any notes!! We all know if it’s not charted, it’s not done. After complaint after complaint and meeting after meeting, I finally blow up. Once that happened, they were really attentive and working diligently to get my mother in law out of their facility. Because they didn’t want to hear the truth from me, they were trying to send her out IN THE COLD at 9:30pm to a Hospice facility to wait there until she could be permanently placed in another long term facility. My husband had to put his foot down and demand that they leave her there until we can find a place to relocate her of our choosing because there was no medical reason for her to be moved. If they were that diligent and attentive about just doing their job, we wouldn’t have an issue in the first place. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone to even put a DOG there.

Please do not have your loved ones admitted in the evening. We found the evening staff to be apathetic and indifferent at best. Her room was not ready - no bed linens, no towels or wash cloths, no tissues, etc No requested items for special needs even though they were discussed with the nurse three hours prior to admission. Her medical issues were not understood by the CNAs at night. They seemed confused - kept looking at each other to try to answer questions. We were asked to help her get into bed and pulled up into bed instead of getting another aide. Place in a room with a person who had TV and lights on until 10PM or so. No one at night was friendly. No one smiles. Day time staff much better but again, only a handful of people actually smile. You have to wonder if they even want to work there. OT and PT staff much better and very caring. One star for the evening. Perhaps three stars for daytime. Four stars for OT and PT

Nursing staff takes average of 20-60 minutes to answer the light. Then when they do answer it they are very disrespectful to the patient. Food is OK but they don't follow any of the patients special needs, such as Diabetic and healthy heart diet. PT and OT are fabulous. That's the only good thing I can say about this place. There is no pt. respect.

Heartland Healthcare was recommended to me by the VA. It was clean, but I thought the therapy room was too small. And I didn't like the fact that you have to punch a code in to get outside into the backyard. I can see all the people trying to remember a bunch of code to get in and out of their backyard. The TVs were way too close to each other, and the rooms were small. I didn't like it. I wasn’t there that long, but from what I've seen, it only looked like there were two nurses to a lot of patients. I really do not feel comfortable. But from what I saw in their menu, it was good. The community was beautiful, and it was very ritzy when you walk in. But to me, looks don't count. I need to see what's going on inside. It was clean and everything. I just wasn’t happy with some of the things I saw. I didn't like some aspects of it.
