I have friends at Shell Point Retirement Community. It's big and they have a golf course. They're on the water, so there's canoeing and kayaking and stuff like that going on. There are multiple buildings and levels of care. It's also a CCRC. Part of the problem there for me personally is that there's one main dining room, and you have to take a jitney to the dining room. The independent units are large, probably some of them over 2000 square feet. It also was a luxury. There are other smaller apartments around, but my friends have usually three-bedroom three-bath units. It's part of our hospital system campus, so it physically adjoins a hospital. That's important to a lot of people I'm sure. It's a very old established community and it has a variety of living situations from smaller apartments to extremely large luxury units. It has villas available. They have separate grill rooms in addition to the central dining hall in one of the buildings. They're building their own hospital and they have a separate memory care unit that I have visited.

Shell Point Retirement Community is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and I highly recommend it to anybody that is thinking about a retirement community. I think it's one of the best you can find anywhere. They have all different room styles and sizes. There are very small studios, and they go all the way up to three bedrooms, and two baths (depends on what you want and what you want to pay for). We cook on our own, but they have about five restaurants on the premises, and they're all very good. If there's any kind of amenity that you would want in a retirement community, you will find it here. They have everything imaginable from tennis to pickleball, to golf to Bocce, to Croquet to game rooms, to railroad train models, or any kind of game or activity or program that you might have an interest in. They also have a wonderful woodshop, a pottery place, an art studio, and places where you can practice your instruments. They have every conceivable amenity that anybody could ever want. I don't think I've ever found anything that was not provided.

When Mom moved to Memory Care Shellpoint said they would offer my father 3 visits per week as he was in assisted living. Visitation would start and stop, start and stop. You had to be constantly vigilant to ensure follow through. Because Dad didn't see her, Dad was crying.. doesn't Mom love me anymore? Did your mother die? At this point with his memory not sure if he is offered 3 times a week visitation. Mom now in Hospice and since I live in NY, Shellpoint said they'd have a worker call me every Monday. This past month 2 calls, and I had to call and remind Shellpoint for BOTH calls! Left message with this worker last week that it's hurtful for both my Mom and I not to have contact as she's dying. Got a call from Mom the next day...but did I get a call yesterday the next week on a on the Monday? No! The month prior phone calls not consistent. Unbelievable! Also got a message put my Mom on medication when after my sister and I had discussed and stated we didn't want medication. Got a disgusted tone call " Caroline, I called you twice on Friday but your phone wasn't on. ". Shellpoint you have my cell, home, email, message...all this for my sister. You should have called ASAP when you found you had violated a family directive, not twice at the end of a week! Called supervisor and never received a return call. I don't know if Shellpoint can't get enough workers.. I know our Country is having a hard time getting people to work..If these people just don't care?....The end result is what I'm sharing. The facilities for independent living when you can advocate for yourself are great..concerts, pool, orchard house, boat...all sorts of activities. But when you can't defend yourself, I can not recommend this institution unless you live right near Shellpoint and advocate for your loved one.

Shell Point Retirement Community is a 700 acres community that is surrounded by water. It's five stars and the amenities are top of the line. Everything is self-contained here. You wouldn't even have to leave the community. We have several restaurants, tennis courts, Pickleball courts, and several swimming pools. We have a 24-hour medical team and the staff is phenomenal. You can pull an emergency cord or you can call a certain number. Someone is always there to answer your call to put you in touch with the medical team. We have weekly housekeeping here and I like that very much. We have an art center here that they built last year. The residents' art is displayed in it. There's also a gift store, a photo place where people who are into photography can go and develop their own pictures, a quilting section where you can go make quilts, pottery, a music studio, an arts and crafts room, and then in that same building, there is a theater that performers come in and can give live performances. Buses will take people to a theater that's 10 miles from here to see famous people who come to town or go to Naples to see ballet and different things like that. So, the cultural interest here is high. It's expensive to live here but we get so much value. It's a wonderful place and for people who want to come to Florida on the West Coast, I highly recommend it. I find peace living here, which is a much more meaningful thing to me, at my age.

We have been on the wait list for 5 years. Now they want you to take one of the tiny garden apartments to be a resident so you can get one of the other units. Someone that does that jumps in front of people that have waited for years. They do not show Christian values to people. All about the money.

I toured Shell Point Retirement Community. It's a beautiful, sprawling campus. It has various amenities that I think a person who is 55 and over would enjoy and feel at home. The staff was fantastic, very open to answering any questions, gave us information, and helped us go through the process. The rooms were all renovated, home-like, and spacious. They have kitchens, bathrooms, and they have an open window, almost like a terrace window. I did try the food, and it was very good. The dining area is very open, so it's conducive for people to sit there. It's a restaurant like, it has a salad bar, the staff wait on you, so it's similar to a restaurant atmosphere. They have a salon, fitness room, they have extensive medical care on the campus, they have a pool, and they have various club areas. They have a maintenance area for golf carts, and they also have a garden. So if you garden, they have a common garden that you can use. The upkeep and maintenance seem to be fantastic, I didn't see any issues. They've been renovating it.

I like where Shell Point Retirement Community is; it's in a good area. There's lots to do there, they have a golf course, it's on the water, and I like that. It's just a nice place with nice people there. I like it. It's not one building, it's several buildings. It's not new, but they're building new areas there all the time, and it's big. It's very good. I like the facility a lot.

I'm at The Woodlands at Shell Point. It's like living in a resort. The services are quite wonderful, but it's very difficult to find yourself respected here. It has nothing to do with the people who do the cleaning and housekeeping because they're perfectly wonderful folks. I'm speaking of the administrators at the higher level. There are six restaurants on the premises. The assisted living and the nursing facilities have their own dining rooms, but if you're in independent living, you can choose to buy a meal ticket and use that as money at any of the restaurants you want. There are plenty of activities. The Academy of Lifelong Learning is wonderful, and they have five classes a week. There's everything from pilates to bike riding to dancing. There's a rehabilitative therapy department right here on-site. The apartment is a little big for me, but it's fine. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They're just extraordinarily pricy. They're aiming for a very specific clientele, which is kind of too bad, since they are supposed to be a 501c3.

I highly recommend Shell Point. It's a beautiful community. When I get old, I want my kids to send me there. They have everything. It's a condominium with many things going on. If you want to get old and be happy, that's the place to be. It's assisted living and independent living. It's expensive, but worth it. Everybody's very friendly. There were a lot of activities for the old people. You can never be bored. The service, the people, the place, and the food were excellent. It's very clean. They're building a new area, so it's getting bigger.

My friend is at Shell Point Retirement Community for rehab. She's getting excellent care, and her room is always kept clean. The staff members is very good and very friendly, and she's been there several times. They have lots of puzzles and things like that, although the residents there are usually too ill to get up and go. I fill out her menu for the week, and they have a very nice variety of food. I really think it's the best in Fort Myers. Its a top-rated, huge place.

We saw the old section of Shell Point. It was very nice, but everyone was in their 90s or higher, and we want to be in a community of folks who weren't that age. The tour was fantastic. I would be interested in the newer section. They gave us a ride through the gardens. There were places to go out and sit in the yard, and they showed us where the river was. They had a waterfront view, which was a big plus. They had woodworking, crafts, art classes, and the most activities of all the places I've seen. However, the staff was pushy with the seniors.

This is a wonderful assisted living facility. My mother has been a resident at Shell Point in independent living for four years. Recently she moved into assisted living at The Springs. The staff could not have been more helpful, caring and compassionate during the transition. The food is good. The activities are abundant. The other residents all seem to be interesting people and well adjusted into their lives at the facility. Shell Point is building additional facilities right next door, including additional living units and an art center. When all done, this will be superb.

Shell Point is near the water which we like as it's on the Caloosahatchee River. It's got an active program that has an 18-hole golf course. The people were very nice. There is a wonderful church program and an extensive library. They have a variety of food. We are taking a small unit because we prefer to be near the water.

At Shell Point Retirement Community you had to be responsible for like your own meal, and you had to buy into that community as well. Then, they had like a restaurant, and I thought the meals were like separate. However, it was a wonderful community with a lot more activities. They had the most activities that I saw. They had golf and tennis. It was by a big lake with boating and fishing and all that. It was excellently maintained. They had excellent staff over there.

I went with my brother for a tour at Shell Point, and the place was beautiful, but the cost is ridiculous; it’s too expensive. For their amenities, they just had everything. They have two golf courses, swimming pools, and all kinds of recreations. They also have all types of buildings that are beautiful. It was a huge place. They also have a bus that can take you for a tour. It was everything you could want, but very expensive.

Shell Point Village is absolutely wonderful. We like it there because we can take our boats, our kayaks, and our jet skis. They have Olympic swimming pools and a golf course. They have a full range of housing, and there are probably 350 different activities to do everyday including trips. We like the location of it with all different eating places. You get like a credit card, and you go wherever you want to eat. The rooms are like in big condos.

I really enjoyed being at Shell Point. My friend’s mother lived there, and we were moving her back up here in Indianapolis, so I stayed there for a few days while packing up. Everybody was very friendly, and there were lots of activities. The food was good. It was a good atmosphere. If I retire someplace, that would be where I would go, I hoped.

I went to another place because my kids thought that I should be in a place where I wouldn't be alone, so I sold my home and went to another place in the area -- Shell Point Retirement. It was more of a place where they had all kinds of people in the same group; there were people that were not well and people that needed more help and all that kind of thing. I knew if I wouldn't stay there very long and that I would be leaving, so I just said, "Kids, I got to get out of here." Shell Point is a Christian community, and they have lots and lots of money, but they've got this older place, which was a hotel, and turned it into a retirement place.

The best place that I might consider was Shell Point. It was just beautiful. It was just like a resort. The grounds, the food, the dining, and the apartments were really nice. They offered a lot. We only saw one room, but it depended on what you were looking for. A one-bedroom was of course smaller, and there were two-bedrooms. They had a lot of activities, and the people were not that old. It seemed like a lot of them were still in their early 60s. That would be a place people would want to be, unless you couldn't afford it. Inside, it was very clean. They had a library, and they had all kind of services there.

12 years ago, we knew somebody who came here and then we came here to look at it, and we liked it. We have been here since 2010. Shell Point is a good place; there is a huge assortment of apartments. There is everything from a studio apartment to three or four bedroom apartments or a house, and they are clean. It is a big place, there are four restaurants, and the food is fine. There’s a lot of athletic things to do, there’s a golf course, and there’s a marina, several gyms, swimming pools, exercises classes, and tennis courts. It is on a river that flows out into the Gulf of Mexico. It is beautiful, well-maintained, and clean. Most of my experience is good. It is safe and secured.

We found Shell Point, and we really liked it. It’s great, and it offers all levels of care. It doesn’t even look like a nursing home. It’s modern; it’s not the wallpapered looking, and they don’t have to have dinners every night which is wonderful. I like that, because we travel a lot. You have can ask for it, but you don’t have to have it with you. It’s absolutely wonderful and spacious with lots of oxygen. There’s a home and condos; it’s varied living. There’s biking and walking paths. It’s just like a resort community -- very nice.

We went to Shell Point. It is a huge facility. They have 3000 residents. They have a golf course and a tennis court on the property. They have indoor and outdoor pools. They have a choice of seven different buildings. They have areas in the woods, and they have areas of single homes. Whatever you could possibly want for a facility, Shell Point has it, both private homes as well as living in a wood rise or a high rise. I met two or three people, and they were all extremely courteous and kind, but I had no contact with the staff, e.g. medical or servicing.

My father is at Shell Point. The experience is very good. The facility is excellent. He has a one-bedroom unit and it is very nice. He has a private bath. He actually got a small half-bath. It is nice. They keep it up. They come in and vacuum and clean every once a week. They change the linens once week. The staff is very good. They are excellent, I would say.

It's fabulous. It’s working out great for my mother-in-law. At Shell Point Village they have thought of everything and they have every angle covered. It’s just a lovely place. They have lots to do, anything that you can think of. There are woodworking, pottery, and art. The staff is outstanding. Every single person is caring and incredible. I would totally recommend it for anyone. It’s a great choice.

Shell Point Retirement was an excellent community. It was an expensive community and it was quite large. There were a lot of activities, very active people, and it was beautifully kept. But for some reason, getting into it was very difficult. They had a long waiting list with few openings. They had a golf course and they had kayaking because the facility is close to the river. They even had boat slips that you could reserve. It was really upscale; these people were well-off. We actually visited some friends who live there and they love it. The place was really beautiful and I would have moved in there in a heartbeat.

I wish we had known that the staff at this place was unreliable and did not serve the patients to the best of their ability. They hand out meds without doctor prescriptions when they"think" it might help their resident. Twice this has happened and twice we have had hosptial stays and then lengthy stays at a rehabilitation facility. Please do not allow them to care for your relative!!!!!!!!

I was specifically looking for an assisted living facility for my mom, and I was able to visit The Springs at Shell Point. The facility is a converted hotel. The staff was very accommodating. From what I could determine, many of them have been on staff for a very long time, like over 10 years. It seems like a very stable place. What I like about it is they have everything pretty much on-site there. They have their own medical center. From a feature standpoint, and what services they have available on-site, it is very good. The facility is very large, and so they have tons of activities. I like the number of services that are available on location there, and that seems very positive. I also like that it is accessible for me to get there.

Shell Point Retirement was really nice. They have different buildings and different levels, and when we looked, we thought we couldn't afford it. The rooms were real nice, clean, and big enough. Some of their places overlook the water. The staff was very good. They have all kinds of activities according to what you're able to do. Some of them are still able to play golf. They have it all at that place. It's a clean and beautiful place, interesting to just go through there and look around. It's not far away, but it's not right in town.

My parents chose The Springs because it's a newer facility. They like the location, the building and the anytime dining (you don't need to eat at a certain time). I like this place because it's cleaner and it has an all-inclusive fee; you know upfront what you will pay. The only cost they will incur is if there's any medical need like physical or occupational therapy. The staff has longevity. They were very courteous, helpful and friendly. They answered all our questions. There was no pushing or questioning. The room was spacious too, and the people looked happy here.

It is a lovely campus with many cultural and social activities evident. However, we were told that it only accepts married couples or "blood relations" such as sisters or brothers due to "insurance reasons" and "state laws." Unfortunately this excludes those who wish to share living quarters as well as share expenses with either same sex or opposite sex unmarried partners is what we were told by the sales staff.

My wife and I have lived at Shell Point for over ten years, and we agree with the glowing reports by other reviewers. We shopped around other similar facilities, and it soon became apparent that none had anywhere near the amenities we enjoy here. Some things not mentioned elsewhere are a continuing learning program on a wide variety of subjects, (called the Academy.) Tour planning, to local and state points of interest - even cruises. Also the sense of family that develops, especially among those in your own building, where parties and events are regularly scheduled. If anyone loses a spouse, they are never alone here. Being operated by a missionary alliance you might think it's too "chucrhy" for you, but that's strictly on a participate as you wish basis. Small pets are allowed, and there are many seen walking their little poodles, dachshunds, etc. Just about all important services are included in your monthly fee, except your telephone. There's even a regularly scheduled, (free,) bus service around the campus. We've never regretted moving here, and think it's important to hear a strong vote of approval from a resident.

I visited Shell Point of Fort Myers. It's like a resort. This place is very nice but I would not call it a resort, maybe a nice hotel. It's a very beautiful & nice place. It's a younger community; the average age is 70. They have a very large community. I would recommend this facility to others.

was very impressed when I visited Shell Point. It was very nice and clean. The apartments were amazing and some were really fancy. Some apartments were larger and some were average. The staff was nice and toured me around the community. The residents seemed busy and going around a lot and they seemed happy. They have a cultural center there and wood working and things like that available. I really like the place but I'm not sure yet what to expect. I still need to look for other communities.

I visit the Shell Point retirement community in Fort Myers Florida on a weekly basis for my job as a maid. It is a clean, neat, well planned community with many ammenities. There are several different types of living arrangements within the community which range from single family homes to assisted care facilities. In addition to a golf course and pools, they offer computer courses, a variety of hobby classes, many social functions, and holiday celebrations. It seems like there is something going on there nearly every day of the week!I work for six different people who live in Shell Point, and their only complaint is the cleaning staff. Though the grounds and common areas are all clean at all times, the cleaning fee included in their monthly dues, cover only twenty minutes of maid service per week. That is why several residents have hired me.Though I am an outside contractor, I am always treated with courtesy and respect by the staff. The residents are always quick to chat and seem to be quite neighborly with one another. Nestled in beautiful Fort Myers Florida, it is only steps to Sanibel Island. Most of the residences take advantage of sweeping views of the island and surrounding waterways.

This is the finest facility of it's kind. I've been to many looking for others and rating them and this by far is the best. For one thing, the people who actually live there are happy. You won't find a long face anywhere. Plenty of company surrounds people who may be retired but are no where near ready to stop living. This is a place for people who want to live, explore new interests and bond with others who also want to enjoy their life. There's several restaurants right there and the food is healthy, excellent quality and lots of choices. The staff is friendly, not condescending one bit and eager to please. It's on the beach and the views are spectacular. I can't think of anything they've left out. State of the art facilities for all medical care (doctors right on the grounds) and they even deliver meds to your door. In fact, anything that's wanted can be had there. I enjoyed seeing the different living quarters (wonderful), exploring the grounds, gardens, things to do and talking with the residents and employees. I've been there 4 times now and each time I learn some new wonderful thing about it. It's not cheap but if you've saved enough pennies this is the place to go. Don't wait until you're too old to enjoy it. The lifestyle is incredible here!
