"Freedom Plaza Sun City Center was really nice. It was very homey. It smelled clean. The tour guide, Sean, was very friendly, very informative, and very helpful. He took us everywhere, and he also introduced us to the staff. The staff were very friendly. What I loved about that place is that all of their services, whether it's their cable or whatever their type of things, they were all included in the price. My mother is currently paying a la carte prices for everything. At Freedom Plaza it was all included, and I loved that. The only downside, and the reason why I cannot go with them, is that they only had studio apartments, and they're only 395 square feet. While it was beautiful and very nice, it was like a hotel room, which for some people would be perfect, but not for my mother. They had the same type of facilities. And what I really appreciated about them is that if my mom was the only one that wanted to go somewhere, they would still take her. Where she is at right now, if she's the only person that possibly signed up to go out to eat, they wouldn't take her. They needed a requirement of like three people. At Freedom Plaza they would take her if she's the only one, and I really thought that was a really cool thing."

"Bradenton - Westminster Manor Independent Living has assisted living and long-term care. It was beautiful. The apartment was very roomy, had lots of storage, and was very nice. They had laundry service, or you could do your own laundry. They had two dining areas. The grounds were nice. They had a nice little hiking trail around the building. The staff was very knowledgeable and very nice. She showed us a larger apartment and then a smaller one. She answered any questions that we had. We didn't see the food, but the dining area itself was very nice. They had scheduled dinners and an alternate menu if you didn't want anything that was on the main menu. They had places where you could sing along. They had movies, bingo, and games. They'll take you if you need to go to a doctor or shopping or anywhere."

"My mom felt comfortable with Westminster Towers & Shores -- that is why she chose this facility. The staff was excellent and there was no pressure. They recognized that the parents need to be the one who are making the decision, and they encouraged her to come back for lunch and stay overnight. Those are the things that she experienced before she made her decision, and that was very helpful. The rooms were nice and the place is very clean and bright. "

"Aviva Senior Living was extremely nice. It was very clean. The staff was welcoming. The residents were happy and the food was excellent. We did eat lunch there. It was chef prepared and it was excellent. I loved the building layout. The grounds were very tropical, nice, and green. The rooms were spacious. The room that we visited had a window that looked out on some really beautiful landscape and it would be very accommodating and welcoming to anyone who uses a walker."

"We toured the Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay. They took us on the whole thing. It's a huge place. They've kept updating. Some beautiful artists come in there and all the walls have nice art on them. They have lots of activities, and take you to some places. That's why I like their location. They'll take you to St. Armands and that's a big shopping area that is by the beach. They've got it all there. The staff was very good. One gal took us and did one part and another one showed up. She did the other part, and then they gave us the booklet with the fees and all their activities."

"Moved here from my house into a villa and have not regretted my decision to chose Sunnyside Village for a moment. There are numerous formats and sizes of homes, from villas to smaller or larger apartments, and houses with attached garages. I was drawn by the large property, beautiful walkways with lovely landscaping and huge old trees. Also the consistently excellent quality of the food served graciously by great dining room and kitchen staff. We have a gorgeous chapel inviting meditation and prayer. The pervading sense of fellowship and kindness in this Christian Community can be felt immediately; it literally embraces one from the first day. There are activities galore for any interests, from cards to physical therapy to exercises, literary and musical clubs and outlets, outings for sports, musical and other cultural events, excursions; our monthly calendar is filled with a huge variety of activities. And, not to gild the lily ,excellent maintenance and when needed emergency service. The independent living facility is next to our assisted living, nursing and memory care facilities. To top off all of this, I based my move also on a spreadsheet which detailed my expenses before and after the move, and found that I out ahead financially after the move."

"My mom is currently at Lake House West in their independent living community. It’s a very beautiful place. My mother’s room has a beautiful view of the lake. The residents have to dress up a little bit to go down to their dining room. The food is excellent thanks to a fabulous chef. They have vehicles that take you shopping or to your doctors' appointment. They have a doctor that comes to the residents for less money. They have different activities, like art class, bingo, cocktail nights, concerts, and derby day. My mother participates on and off. "

"I visited The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch. It is very nice, but it's very expensive. They seemed to cover every single base you're there, and you can move as you deteriorate, or if you deteriorate into a more assisted facility, they take care of you until they bury you. So, it's complete, and I have a lot of friends there. They're all old, so they're not there forever, but I know some people there who speak highly of it. I've been over there to eat, and the food has been good, and the servers have been very attentive."

"I live in Elance at Sarasota. They're doing a lot of remodeling and fixing up what was the fountains. It's not finished. It's a work in progress. The rooms are very large. They have transportation to doctors. They have activities going on. They have a gym. They have fitness classes and water aerobics, and movies, entertainment. They have a bar that's open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays."

"I visited the Bay Village of Sarasota and toured the independent living. I did a ministry for our church, which involved going into senior communities, so I was already quite familiar with these places. I took this tour mostly to see more of it and to find out the financial aspects of it. The staff members were professionals, so they were used to giving the spiel and giving the tour. The visit was a group thing. There were quite a few people there because it was an event. I think it was a brunch, so it did involve food. There must have been 30 or 40 people there. They gave us the spiel, broke us up into groups, and gave us a tour. The food was very nice. I don't know if it was in-house food or not, but I think it probably was. They had just done a whole several-million-dollar renovation and were quite proud of themselves."

"I broke my leg, and I'm in rehab now at Westminster Suncoast. They do short-term and long-term stays here. The food is not great, but it is good. They have activities occasionally. They have a big room with exercise equipment, but there is no pool or anything like that. I have no idea what it costs; either Medicaid or my insurance company pays for it -- it's one of the two."
