"We did go to the Glenridge in their independent living section. It was very upscale, and my parents loved that, but it wouldn’t accommodate them. They really need to be in assisted living. The accommodations were excellent. It was a beautiful community. We went over to their assisted living, but they didn’t have anything available, and they were doing renovations to the apartments that they were showing, so we couldn’t see anything. They have a beautiful restaurant type dining, a stage where they do plays and which was open to the public, a pool, and a wonderful gym; they have everything and anything you could ever want. It’s gorgeous. "

They have games and exercise and many other activities. The dining area was very nice and casual, and the food was very nice. It was a nice place to be. "

"I’ve checked out Lakehouse West. Their assisted and independent-living are separate units so if you need to go from one to the other, you get up and move out. Their coordinator and intake person was very helpful, and she keeps in contact with me. It’s a beautiful facility. When you move in, they update your apartment, but it’s a buy-in community starting upwards from $90,000 to $200,000 for a unit. You don’t have the ownership of the house. They belong to the corporation, so you have no tax advantages. You’re paying rent but even though there are administration and maintenance fees, you get nothing back. After a certain amount of time, you get a percentage back of your buy-in, but I’m not interested in that. They have a pool, an exercise room, an activity room, and they have their clubhouse specials. They have once-a-week shopping trips. They always have something going on. "

"I heard good things about Sunnyside Village so I worked very hard to get my mother into rehab, which puts her at the top of the list for an apartment there after rehab. They have excellent care, and very nice facilities, and the nurses are very nice. They offer bingo, they do some outdoor activities, they bring in musicians, for St. Patrick's Day they had shamrock shakes, and other good activities. It's a brand new building and the facilities are beautiful. You get your money's worth."

"We went to Aviva Senior Living. It was excellent, brand new. The rooms were excellent, and most of them hadn't even been lived in. They had covered parking. Everything was super, super clean, and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We did not eat there, but the dining area was very clean. At the time we visited there were people in there playing cards."
