The Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities Communities in Lee County, FL

"When my friend and her family decided to move to Lee County in Florida, they asked me to visit some of the local assisted living facilities so I could recommend places that might suit her mother. Fortunately, I have a co-worker whose mother resides at Barkley Place so he and I visited together and had the opportunity to chat with his mother during our visit. I found the grounds and the common areas to be well-maintained and attractive. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Both my co-worker and his mother sang the praises of the staff and how responsive they are to the needs of residents' and to questions or concerns of family members. We ate lunch in the dining room and the food was delicious -- far surpassing my expectations. My co-worker's mother admitted that she had been concerned about being lonely or bored when she moved out of her condo and into Barkley Place, but she actually has more friends and participates in more activities than when she lived alone. She plays bingo with the other residents, goes on outings, and even participates in a weekly card game with some other residents. Her apartment is more than ample for her needs and she could not be happier. I was pleased to be able to recommend Barkley Place to my friend and she is going to check it out in a few weeks. I believe this would be an ideal facility if you are looking for a place for a family member. "

"Cypress Cove was a gorgeous place. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it except that it's expensive, so I was not able to afford it. It's beautiful. The apartments were very, very nice. They have more square footage than most places. They have everything you could want. It's just unbelievable. The food was excellent. They had several dining rooms. It's quite large, and it's very good. Plus, it transitions from independent to assisted and then to nursing care. The staff was very bubbly, very happy, and very nice. The people that live there are also very nice. You stop and you talk to somebody, and they have only good things to say. The apartment that I wanted was a one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath. It had a lovely kitchen and a nice area outside. It was on the first floor because I have a dog and it was absolutely perfect for me. Upkeep and maintenance were excellent."

"It's fabulous. It’s working out great for my mother-in-law. At Shell Point Village they have thought of everything and they have every angle covered. It’s just a lovely place. They have lots to do, anything that you can think of. There are woodworking, pottery, and art. The staff is outstanding. Every single person is caring and incredible. I would totally recommend it for anyone. It’s a great choice. "

"We went to Moorings Park. The amenities were fabulous. They had a service chapel and a lot of beautiful grounds. We never got invited to spend a night or two to check it out. But my comment is it was a very expensive place, but it was pretty crammy. The units themselves were not very upgraded, they were small. The participants in the community didn't seem as engaged or as welcoming, and so we didn't see a lot of activity. What we're looking for in independent are people that are engaged, happy, welcoming, and active. They have beautiful amenities. They have walking trails that have a special padding or surfaces that are easy for people to walk on. They have a beautiful communication system aboard that shows all the activities. It's well-maintained on the whole. They have a very nice gym/fitness area, a chapel, and an auditorium. From that standpoint, it looks very nice. The thing that we didn't care for is there was only one building that would allow pets, so that was very restricting. "
