It's smelly and dirty. I'd put my loved one somewhere else. Rooms are shoddy with missing hardware and cleaning is near non existant. There is nearly no hot water & toilets don't flush. Run down & awful place for your loved one.

$110.16 was never billed to my mother, and Apple Rehab never disclosed what the $110.16 is supposedly for. It is cruel that after paying over $12,000 a month every month from what was left of my mom's life savings, Apple Rehab all of a sudden claimed my mom owes $110.16 for something. Why didn't Apple Rehab bill my mom for it 9 months ago? Why won’t Apple give the requested details as to what this money is for? Why didn't Apple Rehab just credit this amount, as a courtesy and act of kindness, in light of the fact my mom paid every &12,000 bill on time without complaint depleting her lifetime savings, and my mom contracted COVID19 while under Apple Rehab's care?

I spent a night in the short term rehab unit at Apple Saybrook. My room was nicely furnished, very clean, and well maintained. The daily recreation calendar was filled with exciting programs and festive fun. The food was delicious. Prepared and served by a friendly staff that were completely accommodating for special meal requests. I would totally recommend!

Abuse of Medicare dollars!!! Not enough professional staff!!! 25 minutes waiting for help to the bathroom, I had to go find 2 people!! I had to ask for my family member to have a shower after 11 days! I had to ask for someone to help him with his new electric razor to be shaved!. One person finally helped! P.T. discharged my family member as having met the "goals". Their goals! My family member is so unsafe, weak, wobbly legs and a very high risk for falling again. No one assisted my family member to just walk in the hall to strengthen his legs and increase his stamina, He sat in a chair all day. He did progress to be able to get himself to the bathroom thankfully. This was a very unsafe discharge to home. I was told Medicare would not pay any longer. This is abuse of Medicare!!! It benefits the Apple, not the client!!

My sister has been at Apple Rehab for 3 months now. I would describe their staff as very good. They’re very patient, very kind, and very helpful. There is a lot of staff there 24/7. I spoke to the doctor who’s in charge of her area twice, and I’m very happy with the care she’s getting. There are always activities, and it took a little time for her to assimilate because she’s kind of obstinate, but within a couple of weeks, she was starting to assimilate easily. Now when I go to see her, I can never find her. I have to track her down because she’s always off doing something somewhere. It’s a little institutional-looking, but they do have some pleasant rooms. If you want to be a little more quiet, you play with a puzzle or read a book, or they have a TV room if you want to catch on the news. They have a nice dining room and a nice game room where musicians come in and play, and they had bingo. I’m very happy with what they’ve done there. It is a little expensive, but I don’t have to worry. It’s the best that I can find close to me because she’s only 10 minutes away now.

My wife was at Apple Rehab. The facility was much improved because of the new ownership. They had good nursing staff. The rooms were cleaned everyday. I ate there once in awhile. They just charged an amount if you wanted to be served with the same food as the residents. They had a good selection on their menu. It was an excellent facility and I would definitely recommend it.

I was an independent care manager of a resident of Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook, CT. In general, I thought the facility was exceptional. The grounds of the facility are well kept and the entrance is easily accessible. The common areas of the facility are clean and newly remodeled. The residents' rooms are also clean and newly remodeled with private baths and walk-in showers. The staff and management of the facility are compassionate and professional. I think the residents get excellent care there. While my 95 year-old client was there, I noticed that the nursing staff (RNs and CNAs) went above and beyond what is typically expected from these professionals. My client was admitted to Apple Rehab after a fall in his home for what we thought was a short-term stay. However, he never fully recovered from the trauma of the fall and subsequent surgery and his condition deteriorated rapidly. The staff at Apple made sure his last days were dignified and comfortable. Overall, Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook, CT is one of the very best along the shoreline and I would recommend it to anyone.
