"I thought that this place was really nice, or at least as nice as it could be. Places like these usually feel similar to a hospital but Brookdale was not like that at all. It was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and actually felt like a cozy home. The dining area was very nice too, and it was nice knowing that they could get things to eat whenever they got hungry, not just when the kitchen was open. I thought that the staff was very nice too. Everyone seemed to really care, and they didnt seem to just be there to "do their job" and then go home. They were geniune and very knowledgeable and able to answer any and all of the questions that we had, which was nice. The residents that I saw when we went were also very nice, and everyone seemed happy to be there, Im sure this differs from resident to resident, but all the residents I saw appeared to be content in their surroundings. I went there very nervous, and left feeling very positive. "

"We toured Avery Heights. Everybody in there didn't need any assistance as far as I could see, but it was very nice, comfortable, and pleasant. The staff was very pleasant and informative. They seemed to care about their community. The place was beautiful and very clean. My husband and I both said to the person who was giving us the tour that this is the place where we would like to live. They showed us the menu. The residents have a choice of what they want to eat, and it was prepared by a chef there on the scene. Their dining area was like an upscale restaurant. They even had a movie theater."

"Both my parents were residents of Summerwood. As their oldest child I felt it was my responsibility to ensure they were in a clean and safe environment. Summerwood offered that but so much more. From the delicious meals served in a lovely dining room, to the in-house events, parties, entertainment and activities as well as the trips offered off the property, they could do as much or as little as they wanted. The apartments are lovely and brand-new looking. Mom and Dad's was kept very clean. On one occasion I was notified by the staff nurse that my Dad was ill and they handled getting him to the hospital. It was comforting to know that both Mom and Dad were always being looked after and I didn't have to worry. The staff was a pleasure to work and they went above and beyond to ensure Mom and Dad were content and happy. My parents also found the staff to be very caring and fun. I highly recommend Summerwood for your loved ones (or yourself!). "

"I'm very pleased with Brookdale Chatfield; moving in was a hard decision to make. What I like most about them is the idea that they have walking trails so I could walk inside, that I would be cared for by having meals provided, and the apartment. It was newly renovated, there were nice white appliances, light colored rugs, and it was just lovely. I met a few staff members. I talked with the marketing person and he was very forthcoming with all my questions and he answered them. I talked to the chef who was also very good in answering my questions. I like the location because it's near my daughter; this location is right next to a mall. They have exercise classes, art and painting amenities, the usual things that senior places have."

"Elmbrook Village is a very nice place. They have lots of activities. They help remind mom to take her pills, help with her ostomy bag twice a week, with light housework, and they clean her place. She is in a 1-bedroom apartment. They have programs that help strengthen their brains, games, arts, and field trips. They have an exercise room and a library. The food is great."

"We went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Haddam. It was very good. The facility itself was beautiful. It was spotless and well-staffed. The people that we met were all very, very nice. The units were very, very nice. We looked at a studio and a single room and they were actually really, really nice. They got everything you would need."

"My grandmother lived at this facility for the last 15 years. She was well taken care of by most of the staff. The issues that I or my family had with the facility were taken care of very quickly and efficiently. Although, I wish that no one needed these facilities, if I had to recommend one, this would be it. The staff was professional. The other patients were friendly. The building was well maintained. "

"The Ivy at Ellington looked very lovely. The staff was very, very cordial. They showed me the whole thing, it was very nice, they have like a bar room, a game room, a garden area, and a couple of sun rooms. Everything looked very nice. It's a fairly new facility."

"There are two levels in this center and, if I remember correctly, two wings on each level. The nurses, recreation staff, nursing assistants and even the janitorial staff in each area are very nice. The staff was helpful and quick to respond to residents' requests and call lights. Some rooms are double and some are private, all are very homey and many of the residents have made their rooms look like home. This facility has a lot of activities including bingo and community mealtimes for the residents and other opportunities for them to socialize. The location is very nice and there is a great outdoor space with sidewalks (handicapped accessible) and benches where family or volunteers can take residents for a visit. I did not have a family member staying in this facility but visited on several occasions as a volunteer while I was in college at the University of Connecticut about 20 minutes away. "

"The tour was fantastic. The facility was like a 5-star resort. Everything was beyond expectations. It was just beautiful. It was fancier and better than I expected. The staff during the tour was amazing and super friendly. The memory care woman was just the best. They had all kinds of great programs and they're very involved with the residents. It was very impressive. The food was fantastic. The individual rooms were very spacious. They had a common area and different restaurants within the facility. They went the extra length to personalize the rooms and then showcase each resident."

"My tour at Arbors of Hop Brook was excellent. The woman that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. She had been working there for a long time. She showed me all the rooms and all the activity rooms and the cafeteria. I was very pleased with her tour. The rooms were good. They were big. They had a mini kitchen as opposed to the full kitchen that you get through the other facility. They had an exercise area and a library."
