"Mom is moving into The Village at Mariner's Point tomorrow. We were very impressed with just the whole look of it. It's a beautiful facility. It overlooks the water, the Long Island Sound in the distance. They have a very good reputation for their food. Their food is very good. They have a beautiful dining room where you can order off the menu. They have a lot of little amenities that other places don't have. They have a library that gets restocked regularly, the East Haven Library comes in and does that. They have a pool where they have classes, they have two classes a week where they do water aerobics. They have a ton of different classes for them. They go somewhere several times a week where they take them on trips, they go to the store, they go to the market, I think they went to the apple orchard, and they went to the beach over the summer. But the biggest thing that attracted us to that is that they have a doctor that is associated with the facility. She's not there, she has an APRN that comes three times a week and checks on them. You could use her as your primary care doctor, and we are going to be doing that. She doesn't have to leave the facility at all when she has her physical, or if she doesn't feel well, she can get checked right there. They also have an audiologist that comes in. They have a dentist that comes in regularly. They just have a lot of amenities that I know mom will be able to make use of. So we were impressed with all those things, but mainly the medical. Prescriptions get delivered to them regularly. I think they come like three times a day."

"What I like best about the The Village at Kensington Place was that the wing that my mom is in is just a small wing. I feel that people who works with her there are very caring and I think that is important. It is a lockdown facility and you have to ring a doorbell to get in, so I know my mom is safe there. The room that she got there is spacious. I have also tried eating there and it is good. When it comes to activities, my mom is always looking forward to their bus trips twice a week. I think that is important for their residents instead of just being in that one wing all day. I had some issues with them before, but when I discussed those with the director, they readily took care of them. They also encourage me to inform them if I am not happy with anything so that they could work on those things. I would have to say that I'm pleased with this facility. "

"So very glad to have found Just Like Home! The house is bright, clean and comfortable. My Mom feels very much at home. The staff is amazing; so caring and attentive. The residents enjoy all the musical guests and fitness trainers that come to the house. "

The communal area is great, offering a range of things to do. Conveinent salon set up area, so you can get your hair done in the comfort of the home. "I like Motif by Monarch. It's very nice. It fits my needs. The location was great. The people there were great. The activities seemed to be good. It's an A-plus. They had a library and a gathering room with a bar, and that was nice. They can eat outdoors in good weather. Some of the rooms have a kitchen, and some of them don't, so it depends on what you need. I only interacted with one employee and she was very nice and very informative. She did a good job explaining everything to me. She was very knowledgeable."

"Old Glory Days was wonderful. It was beautiful. It was very clean. I liked it because it was open. I didn't like it because there were a lot of stairs. They were very expensive, too. The staff was very down-to-earth and neat. It's a converted old house. I wouldn't recommend it unless you lived in town, and if you had a lot of money and you were by yourself. I don't think it was good for a couple. It was very well put together. It was nicely painted inside."

"My Mom moved into independent living at Spring Meadows 6 weeks ago after looking at 5 other locations. She choose Spring Meadows based on the amenities it offered her. From my first interaction with management for her lease signing to her move in we found the entire staff friendly, helpful, supportive and compassionate. Although my Mom lives independently, she could no longer live alone and did not want to live with family. Spring Meadows provides everything she was looking for and peace of mind for me knowing she is cared for 24/7 if needed. "Maplewood at Newtown's food is average, and I wouldn't say it's spectacular. They have their big meal at lunch and a lesser meal at dinner. What I really love is they do a cocktail hour with a glass of wine or a bottle of beer at 4:00, and my parents really enjoyed it. They have a Happy Hour, and for my parents, that's really nice for socialization. They get phenomenal care from the support staff. The biggest downfall of the place is they don't have a 24/7 bus to take the adults around. They only take them out 2 or 3 days a week if you don’t drive; that's the biggest deterrent to me. One of the other positives is my mother has dementia, and my father does not; it's a great place for a couple that has that situation. My mother is semi-locked down at 8:00 at night where certain doors close off the facility so she can't get lost, but my father can access the rest of the facility. I think that’s a huge plus. They can improve by having 7 days-a-week transportation. "

"Never ever send your loved one there. They care more about the money than your loved one!..my mother was found covered in vomit and mucous when EMS arrived. Unacceptable! RUN!"

"Bethel Health Care is a very nice facility, it is clean and the people who are there seem very well cared for. My grandmother has been there for six months now and has had no complaints other then the food, but she is an amazing cook and is never happy with any one elses food, including her own daughters. The staff is well trained, polite, caring and very involved in all the goings on at the facility. The facility offers free wifi and cable in each room and we also have the option for expanded cable and a box if we choose to pay for it. Over all Bethel is a very nice place and I would recamend it to any one looking for an assisted living facility "

"It had a more open and bright appearance when you walked in to the lobby. They have a lot of shrubbery, plants and flowers. Almost every apartment has either a patio or a balcony so that you can sit outside. All the patio furniture is the same and it has a more countryside setting. "

"I was sincerely welcomed for a tour of the brand new facility. Very knowledgable representatives. I'm proactive in planning for the future (75 years old) and I'm not ready yet for a senior center (too little private space, fixed meal plan),.. I'm dealing with the 12 stairs at home. I am very interested in Maplewood, but not yet."

"I'm living in a cottage here at Avery Heights. I've been here almost six months now. I just turned 70 about 2 or 3 months ago, so I'm one of the younger people here, although I have a friend here who is the same age. They're all nice folks that live here. It's the most active, independent living place I have seen. They interact a lot here, and they have activities. It's great. They have been here a long, long time, and it has a good reputation. Some of the staff members are excellent; some are kind of slack. On the whole, it's a nice community. I can walk up the hill and go to the big building, The Heights, and that's where everything happens. The food is good. It's wholesome. The chefs pay attention to what food they're using, but it's somewhat repetitive. They have a lot on the menu, but the menu doesn't change much. They have quite a few activities that happen once a week or maybe once a month. They also have places where they go 4 or 5 days a week; the transportation is always going somewhere. They have movies in the main building every day in the afternoon and evening. You can do all kinds of stuff. You can volunteer, too. They have a nice library, which I like. The value for money is excellent for me. Every cottage apartment costs differently, but mine is great. It's 625 square feet, which is small, but I'm doing what I can do here."
