Serving as a Conservator for a resident affords me the opportunity to interact with many functions of Amberwoods. Meeting with team members is truly a pleasant experience. Including, amongst other functions, are medical, maintenance, finance and admissions. Every member is dedicated to the resident's well being. Please note that they will keep you up to date on your resident's wholeness. I am fully satisfied with this facility as the place for my conservatee. If a facility is in your or a close someone's future, please give Amberwoods consideration.

We put my sister in here months ago, during that time she did nothing but get worse. Short term became long term, we took her out of there and she's doing so much better and happier. No bed sores and she put weight on!!! Look closely at the rust, falling wallpaper, the smell when 'food' is served. Pigs wouldn't eat it, I almost vomited when my sister took a huge bite out of a dried out, rancid smelling fish sandwich, they're risking food poisoning or it's already happened. She kept telling me they're always yelling in the halls, I can confirm her story, my Lord. If you have a loved one in there go every single day, stop at the nurses station on the way in and way out. Ask questions, take notes, this place is BAD!

Care on Willow Way is excellent. Aides and nurses are kind and compassionate, treat patients respectfully and with dignity. Recreation, Social services PT and OT are very responsive. Rooms are older, could use remodel but are always kept very clean.

Take a tour and really look around closely. My mother-in-law spent her last three months at Amberwoods long term Memory care, after a few weeks in the wound care unit. (not any better, but doesn't smell as bad). I have had past experiences with Nursing homes, so I do have comparisons. This facility has ZERO joy. There are no smiles, no laughter, no music. Nothing. It is so depressing. As far as I saw the entire time we were there, residents are not taken outdoors at all for sunlight and fresh air. The facility is dirty and dingy. It smells horrible, the furniture is so old and literally falling apart. Many items, including brand new magazines, mysteriously disappeared within a day or two. The employees shake their shoulders and blame the residents. Please, if you are at all considering placing your loved one in this facility, do your research and really look closely. There is a reason they do not have any volunteers. It is so sad that this type of care is acceptable. It was literally painful to witness.

Full side rails on beds, no televisions in room, room bland with paint chipping, food from lunch (ticket still there) not opened, not consumed, resident unshaven

My relative was placed at this facility. It shows a 5 star rating which was misleading. The rooms smelled of urine. My family and I had to go clean it ourselves and vacuum, disinfect ( particularly the bathroom with Lysol), and Febreze so that it can be up to adequate standards. The nursing and CNA staff for the most part worked hard to accommodate the needs of my family regarding the standard of care that we expected for our relative. No complaints for other than they seem to be short staffed, adding an extra burned on an already burdened personnel. The CNA staff was very caring, a pleasantly surprising finding. We had to bring in food for our relative as the food served at this facility is substandard. Security of the facility was a concern. The senior management seem to be oblivious of the problems listed above.

This facility is always short staff. There is never enough food or when asked for another choice, they never have it. The aides and nurses are nice, but they have no control of some situations.

I had had orthopedic surgery and my sister recommended this place. I lived in west hartford but I went to here because of the services they offered. Nurses and physical therapy is excellent. The rehabilitation service was second to none. Don't go here if you don't want to put in the work to get better. You will be pushed but it's total worth it. I was here for 10 days . BTW the administrator is a nice and caring lady ,she patiently answered all my questions and concerns. I highly recommend this place. Food is good too.

I had my mother here for 3 months after us suffered a stroke. It was a very difficult time for me. The director of nurses was most kind. She went over the expectations, the nurses was amazing, especially Bella. He made sure my mom got all the care she needed to improve. The physical therapy was amazing too. They got my mother walking after several weeks. I still can't believe how good the staff was and my mom was is very picky like the food. The administration Tammy is amazing, she always have time to talk to the family and never just treat us as mumbers. I highly recommend this place. Trust me give then a chance and you too would love it.

My father has been a patient at this place for about 4 months. In that time we have found several bed sores on him that staff didn't notice or treat. We had to point them out to the on duty nurse, on more than one occasion at that for treatment.

My husband was at Amberwoods for 3 months before he passed away. My family and I found administrators and staff to be most caring. They visited all the wards each day and spoke with patients and called each by name. They knew family members by name, also, and were most friendly. My husband was at Amberwoods 4 years earlier for rehab after a serious operation, and the family and I were very pleased to be able to have him there again. I would, and have, recommended Amberwoods without reservation. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and friendship we received there.

This place is awful and is costing $12.000 a month. Not enough staff. Someone is making money. I would rather pass away then have to live here
