Ranked by U.S. News as one of the 100 Best Places to Retire in the USA, Connecticut’s capital city, Hartford, is home to nearly 14,000 seniors. Not only does the city offer a number of senior-focused services and resources, including four seniors centers, it’s home to world-class medical facilities, including the nationally-recognized Hartford Hospital. With many historical attractions, entertainment venues and proximity to state parks, Hartford offers a wide variety of year-round recreational opportunities for seniors to enjoy. In warmer months, residents can enjoy strolls through this very walkable city’s neighborhoods, and in colder weather, seniors receive discounted fares on CTtransit, which offers a full local bus route, as well as a rapid transit system and free shuttle around the downtown.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
