Adult Day Care Communities in West Hartford, CT

"Joseph Tkacz sr attends the "The day Club for memory impaired. They are a wonderful and caring group. They provide fellowship, activities, interaction with clients. They keep them aleryt and happy. My dad has been goingthere for about 5 years. They are a god send to our family. They are the best facility for memory impaired and people with disabilities you can find. They also keep a medical nurse on staff that can monitor the clients. They are 5 stars. They care and concern can not be measured. 5 stars "

"My father was at an assisted living facility, but we kept him going at the day program of the Alzheimer’s Resource Center because it was much higher quality. When they did have an apartment open, we moved him from next door to there. Everyday they have two forms of exercise options: either like a zumba or taichi or yoga. They try to incorporate different types so it’s just not the same physical activity each day; they do one in the morning and one in the afternoon. They have art classes, do day trips at least once a week to either local farms, museums, or concerts; they do a lot of quality out programs. They do a lot of music programs. They have an in-house music therapist, and they have a travelling music therapist that even in the evening might go. There are only thirteen apartments, so they encourage everyone to go; they call it their "family time." They have a pianist play in that room and do the sing-alongs. They also have skilled nursing so if someone progresses they don’t need to actually to look for a separate facility which is a nice plus. Another interesting thing is that the assisted living is self pay, but the skilled nursing can be self pay or accept state funding, so even if somebody runs out of their fund, they could still stay there without having to go to a different facility. It also has several different types of support groups that are open to both the community and to people in the community who are not in their programs. I really like this place; I think they're the best one in our area. "

"We chose Mulberry Gardens of Southington for dad because it was very affordable and they had a nice staff there. It was just really nice and comfortable. They made you feel at home. They're very attentive to the residents, which I like. They have bingo, they toss the ball, they take them out for walks, and they do a lot of arts and crafts where they've done pictures and stuff like that. He's got a nice studio apartment. They have a gym and a salon, so I don't even have to take him anywhere, which is nice. I could just call them and ask them for a haircut and they'll do it."

" To start with take your time,do some research..and you will find what you are looking for. I thought for sure at first..I could never find a adult day care for my father. He was 91,and diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My thought was...what kind of a facility would take him. I worried it would be dirty,and under staffed. Well, I found Felician Adult Day Care. And it is a great place.The staff members are wonderful and caring.loving people. They really make my father feel welcomed.He is happy attending their day program. It is clean beautiful building. The arcitechture is lovely. "

"Valerie Manor is a very pretty location. It's an open area and they have great physical therapy. My father looked forward to working with the physical therapists there. There are two people per room or they might have a private room (my father was in a shared one). The CNAs were fabulous working with him and they remembered his name. The nurses were great, too. The social working staff communicated greatly with me. I am out of state and Valerie Manor, hands down, has been fabulous to work with. The front area when you walk in has a nice piano where they had a piano player that came through (he was able to participate in that). He also enjoyed eating the meals. There were very few that he didn't like, but the variety was nice and it was served warm. We paid by Medicare so that was great."

"I been wanting to leave this place for a long time but realistically I I can't do it all on my own right now.If I could take Maggie and Allison with me I would do it .They both are Ambassadors here at Abbott. These girls work hard and they do alot for everybody. Allison always makes sure my hair is straight. Maggie got my computer working twice already. My aide Arlene be hooking me up too. I LOVE the girls here They are all hard works .Deep inside I still want to go but leave my Ambassadors and my CNAs .I'm going to just chill cause they got me and I'm good here."

"I toured Masonicare At Ashlar Village. I think they had some of the nicest rooms that I've seen. It was a clean facility. The people were very pleasant. The food was good. They offered a lot of activities. The staff members were very accommodating and attentive. I felt it was a quality facility."

"My father goes to Wernick Adult two days a week. The staff is very nice. It’s not really big and kind of open. They have a lot of activities; you can participate or not. There is good socialization, and my father tells me the food is very good. "

"My mother attends this facility Monday-Friday. They love her and take care of her personal needs. Weekly her health is assessed (blood pressure/temperature/pulse are checked). She is given nutritious meals. They engage her in fun appropriate activities and exercise. I know my mother is loved here. One of the ways I can tell is when we arrive at the center she walks in with open arms to the staff. She has alzheimers disease but even a person with alzheimers can feel love. "
