I toured Jewell Estates Assisted Living and I like it because it's an open community with bedrooms at the sides of the open space. When people want to come out of their bedrooms, they can go into this open space and get involved in any activities that they would like to participate in. It's a big house with mini-rooms to rent out and there's just one kitchen that everybody belongs to. I was very impressed. They were very kind, caring, and they know what elderly people need and expect. They have arts and crafts, a nice patio for people to enjoy, and religious people come in, too. They have a doctor that comes in once a week, and a nutritionist comes in and makes sure everybody is on the right diet. This is from what I've been told; my mom's not there yet so I don't know everything. There are bookshelves with lots of books. Someone also comes in on a weekly basis to take care of haircuts.
