My father is in Summerfield Memory Care of Stockton. It's a very nice community. The staff has been very nice, very thoughtful, and very caring. Everybody seems to be very engaged in their work and it's a place where people are well taken care of and comfortable. His room is nice and functional. It's not luxurious or anything, but it's comfortable and it serves their purpose, which is to give him a place to sleep and to rest, not a place to hang around all day, but they shouldn't be doing that, which is good. The entire facility is a memory care center. They only take memory care patients. They have bingo, games, I've seen exercise stretching, and they have music-related activities or people will come to perform. It's a decent variety. Everything right now is great. The facility is very nice. It's not a luxurious place. It's not designed to be that. It's designed to make people be comfortable and live the end of their life in hopefully a positive way. It's in what I call the affordable range. I don't want to give the impression that this can be palatial, absolutely beautiful, or things are sparkling, it's not, but that's not the point of the place. It's priced at a rate that makes people comfortable, yet it's not causing as much as other places that are twice as much. The activities seem fun and people are enjoying them. I've been just impressed with the staff. They're engaged in their work. They want to make sure their residents are happy and they know them. Even though the place has 50 to 60 residents, they know them and they're caring for them. To me, that's evident the times I've been there. It's not just going from duty to duty. I've met numerous people who've been there over 10 years or longer, which to me says something.

My tour of Summerfield Memory Care of Stockton overall was positive. They only handle patients that have been diagnosed with memory conditions. The director worked with us and showed us around, answered all our questions, and was very professional. They were very understanding in terms of understanding the conditions that we're dealing with, in terms of caring for someone with memory issues. I did not try the food, but the food looked very appealing. We saw people eating their meals, the meals looked good and had a nice smell. We got a chance to see some of the activities going on. They have a calendar posted on the wall that shows all the activities. Because it's strictly a memory center, they have activities every hour of the hour and they bring everybody out to parties, they don't encourage a TV in the room, they want their residents out and interacting with one another. They wanted to get them out and interact with others as much as possible. So they had a lot of group activities from exercise, to playing word games, to playing cards, and all types of stuff.

I went to visit Summerfield of Stockton. The building and the grounds were very well-kept. The lady that took us around has been there since the building, so the staff had been there for a long time on average. She was quite knowledgeable about a lot of things. The patients or clients themselves who live there were very well-kept. They have a schedule, they get them out of bed and make sure they're cleaned up. I was impressed with what they looked like. We went outdoors, they have a very nice landscaped area that's protected from the sun. I had a pretty good feeling about that place. There wasn't much difference between the price here and the other place I toured, and the lady also told me about the add-ons. And that's what surprised me. It seemed functional the way it was laid out, and I was impressed with it. It's not extravagant, but very well thought out and well-maintained.

I looked at quite a few other places, and to be honest, the ones that I looked at were all very nice. The Summerfield Memory Care of Stockton was just as nice as any I'd seen but I kind of like the layout of it a little better than the larger places I'd seen. It's a little homier and intimate. Now that my wife's been there for not quite two weeks yet, the care that she's getting, I think, is outstanding. The people are very good, very professional, very caring, and patient. I'm very satisfied with where she is. She said she likes the food and it does look very good. I think they're all horrendously expensive but for what she gets, I guess it's reasonable and I'm very happy with them.

I seldom write reviews, but felt compelled to do so in hopes of helping others who are experiencing the emotional pain of watching a loved one suffer from dementia. If you are in this situation now, and reviewing Summerfield, you have come to the right place. My mom has lived at Summerfield for six months now after we realized that simple assisted living was not enough and memory care was needed. While my wife and I were educating ourselves on this horrible disease, we had contacted Summerfield to ask questions and look at options. We were immediately put in contact with Leslie Anderson, the Executive Director who took a considerable amount of time talking with us. She was kind, understanding, and extremely knowledgeable as she gave us important information during a time when we were under considerable stress. She even suggested we look at other facilities during our learning process and to call her back when we were ready and she would help us no matter what we chose. We did our homework, mom toured Summerfield, and within the next couple of days she had moved into her new home. Without Leslie’s professional guidance and sincere kindness we would have been lost and would have struggled for a much longer period of time. From the very first day, mom has been extremely happy to be living there. She is always clean, physically well kept, likes the food, and has come to love the staff and her caregivers as if they are family. The caregivers pay great attention to her psychological wellbeing. The daily activities and the activity room staff are amazing keeping her engaged and active as much as possible. Her room, and the entire facility, are well maintained and exceptionally clean and safe. They are very vigilant in prevention strategies relative to current health & safety issues. The secure grounds are well maintained and it’s basically a beautiful campus. We visit two to three times a week and have had the opportunity to get to know most of the staff. Without exception, we leave feeling impressed with the professionalism, the genuine kindness, patience, concern for every resident, and the positive attitudes of every single person working there. Not once have we seen negativeness or conflicts which is truly amazing in today’s world. We have only seen sincere customer service and caring for all of the residents. From my prior life experiences, it is obvious that Summerfield of Stockton has an extremely high level of organizational leadership, work ethic, and professionalism that starts from the top levels with Leslie as the Executive Director, Peggy Massey, Teresa Thompson, Hansel, Sukhi, Joe, and Sumera, who always greet us with a smile. The caregivers and every staff member are truly special people working in an emotionally difficult environment. We thank all of them and feel extremely fortunate for having these special people watching over mom. One of the most important things about Summerfield is that when our family goes to sleep at night, we know that mom is there safe and well cared for at all times. Tom & Debbie Morris

The staff is very attentive, so my mom is well taken care of. They have a good level of activities and that all of the residents are engaged. So, she's really liking that and they have a nice outdoor patio and walking path areas, so even though it's a controlled entry facility, they can get out and enjoy the outside. They also have a beauty salon, which she has used, and then they have guest performers where they bring speakers in. The meals are provided too. They're really good about communicating with the family and the nursing staff is good about keeping us informed if there are changes, so it's been good.

Mom moved in and I'm very happy with it. The care workers seem to be very diligent and they pay attention. They have a lot of activities that benefit my mother cognitively as well as physically, the food is very good, and I really like the facilities. They have a really nice, big backyard where she can walk, and it's a secure place where I don't have to worry about her wandering away and getting lost. They're doing some remodeling right now so things are a little bit tumbled, but once they're done, I think it's going to be user-friendly.

It was a locked place for the security of the residents. I saw cats in there, but we have dogs and that might make my dogs go crazy. The place had a good setup, and the staff was OK. They were having snack time while we were there. The residents were sitting in their wheelchairs in the living room waiting for their snacks. I don’t think my husband would like to be there. I would suggest they improve on their front desk staff because I was trying to strike up a conversation with them, but they were busy with their own thing.

Its appearance are great. My loved one's already been there and likes it. The staff is very professional and very friendly. He participates in talking about politics and current events, and sometimes walking and Tai-chi. They have two snacks and lunch. The food is very good.

It has been great. They got my mother-in-law walking again, so I have nothing but great things to say about them. The staff is great. They’re taking great care of my mother-in-law. They have a chef on staff, so it’s high-quality food. They have lots of different activities throughout the day' my mother-in-law’s favorite is tai chi, and they have games and movie nights.

I have my husband placed here. I first put him in there as a short-term to see how it was, and he liked it there. I really liked everything they were doing, and I just thought it was perfect for him. The staff is very professional; they are very helpful with any question you have. They do a really good tour, show you where everything is, and introduce you to all the staff. I like their living areas, their bedrooms, and their dining rooms. The whole atmosphere of the place is wonderful. I’ve eaten there, and it’s really good. They have memory-stimulation activities, exercise, and music; they have a lot of interaction. Everybody is always included, regardless of their ability. They do a very thorough work-up of the person’s abilities, and then they interact all the people together; they are able to understand each person’s level of ability.

My mom lived here for a year. Everything about the facility is very, very good, and their program is excellent. The rooms were adequate and nice. The décor was very nice and very cheerful. It's a very good place. The food is good, although not great. Most of it is done in a crock pot. The staff are very friendly. They have singing, and they bring in bands all the time. So they have a very, very good program. I hope that the receptionist will be more cheerful. When I come, she does not smile and doesn’t say welcome. She is grouchy.

One of my parents is a current resident. I looked at a few others and it was the best one at that time. It is a very nice and caring facility. The staff is wonderful.

The staff was extremely professional. I would recommend them hands down to anyone who would ask if I knew of a place. The facility is very clean, staff is wonderful, warm, and inviting. They follow up with calls to see how you're doing.
