This is a ideal lovely location but the management team is a different story. The team is well-trained for sales and marketing but once move in, one gets to see the very dark side of the profit driven corporate culture and business ethic. They put my husband in a single private room first but then moved in another resident so the two shared one small sink with toothbrushes in one cup - all messed up creates the hygiene issue and health concerns. I brought this up to the Legal Department along with my husband didn't have a shower for over 10 days, they twisted the words to justify their corporate interest. They allow a proven TRIANGLE LOVE AFFAIRS in the facility caused jealousy between men and got into physical. I discovered all this so I emailed the team with my advice...but they did nothing and use the Protocol as shield with another 72 hours one-on-one caregiver, more medication...don't let them convince you to change your medical insurance for their network...the don't have in-house physician at site but on call or visit so basically when physician is not on the site, he takes the nurse words for it...most horrify experience.

Worst place imaginable for dementia patients: - Poor hygiene small shared sink with toothbrushes, shavers and soaps all mixed together without private holder. - They don't monitor residents taking shower or not. - Food is way too salty - very low budget meals. Much prefer they charge for the food with options. - Management team is extremely low ethic, refuse to investigate incidents but choose the convenient route for more medication, imposing 72 hours one-on-one caregiver, or do the psychotic evaluation while they can continue to charge the daily rate with less of inhouse caregivers around - very unethical profit driven business model.

Silverado San Juan Capistrano Memory Care Community was nice because the price was all-inclusive, so you didn't have to pay for levels of care. Whatever you started paying would be the rate throughout their stay, from early memory care through hospice. The only additional charge was 700 a month for incontinence products. They were probably the most expensive of all of the properties that I toured. They had two aviaries. They had a nice courtyard. They had walking paths that were all within the gated area. Meals for families who come to visit are included in the overall price. There's no additional cost for meals. They have a resident dog and cat that belong to the facility that are kind of their ambassadors and greet people. They're very friendly. The facilities were very clean. Furniture is included, but you can bring your own. They have memory boxes outside of each of the rooms for the residents where you can put photos or representations of their hobbies, so it helps them find their room. And then the staff gets a reminder each day of what their interests are and what they might be able to talk to them about. There are only four private rooms in the entire facility, but a lot of the studies show that memory care patients do better in companion rooms because they have more social interaction. The rooms were good sized. They have a dresser and an armoire for each patient. They have a fall risk assessment, and it looked like their fall risk program had been implemented. Their most severely affected dementia patients or those who are in hospice care have the same menu as everyone does in the facility. But for each person they adapt according to their likes and dislikes. They have three different dining rooms depending on the cognition level. They move patients from one to another depending on kind of how they are that day. If they seem like they're a little better, they might put them in one of the more socialized dining rooms. Their nursing staff is specific to each patient. They have a housekeeper who does housekeeping and a laundry person who does laundry, so the nursing aides taking care of the patients are only taking care of patients and they are not doing other duties. They have a physician who works with the facility. He is not in-house, but he does frequent visits and evaluations. The staff who toured us knew all the residents' names. She was very helpful, but not pushy. She was able to answer all my questions, and she offered information that I hadn't thought to ask about. The only thing that I would say is a negative is they do not have nearly enough parking.

Overall, I thought Silverado San Juan Capistrano Memory Care Community was really clean. I thought it was very well run, but it just wasn’t fully what we were looking for as far as for my mom at this point. It seemed like the quality of life was a little less than she still has. I think we like the staff the best. They were friendly, really helpful, very present, very accommodating, and answered all the questions we had.

My wife was in Silverado San Juan Capistrano Memory Care. It was excellent. She was there for five years. The rooms were set up for two people. They were like college dorm rooms. The food was excellent. They had cooking classes, painting, drawing, puzzles, and sewing. For outside activities, they had lawn bowling and a miniature golf course.

My mother-in-law is in Silverado at San Juan Capistrano. It is very nice. They have a very friendly and very interactive staff. And because the place is totally memory care, they are very actively involved with the residents. My mother-in-law is on oxygen, and every time she wants to go outside, there is a staff member ready to help her take her oxygen out with her. Then when she wants to come back in, they are right there to help bring her in. So it’s good.

Silverado was excellent. I thought it was stunning. It was a beautiful facility. I'm not sure, but I think they had assisted living, memory care, hospice, and they had it all in one building and campus. They had two bistros where they could have juice, fresh fruits, yogurt, or go and have food every time of the day. They had a kitchen. They had their med techs, they monitored their staff, and everything was great. They had about 91 people in there, and my mom needed something smaller as she was not used to being around that many people. She was hard of hearing, so if they would have activities for 15 or 18 people and she was not upfront, she would be lost. The rooms are beautiful. You could have a private room or you could share a room. It was not expensive, if you share. However, my mom was 92 and she was a simple person. I had no complaints about it. It was just too big for my mom.

My father is in a memory care facility at Silverado Senior Living. The place is very bright, clean, open, and a lot of areas for my father to walk around. As far as the staff, they are very friendly and outgoing. I think they just need more options for meals like a no-salt diet or something of that nature. I was able to eat there and the food was good.

My husband has been a resident of Silverado for 5 1/2 years. My mother was also a resident there until her passing. I have visited almost daily for 5 1/2 years and absolutely love the amazing staff at this home. There is love, & kindness from every employee you meet whether it is the laundry gal or the chef or one of the many amazing caregivers. As soon as you walk in the door, you almost always smell cookies baking in one of the many country kitchens. It feels like home. Then there is usually some live entertainment or art classes or some activity that brings life and joy to the residents. Every month there is some kind of family party to celebrate life. Children & pets are a welcome sight on a regular basis. I am getting ready to celebrate my 6th wedding anniversary at Siverado! It might not be the way I expected to be celebrating had my sweet husband not had this dreaded disease but Silverado has always helped me celebrate and appreciate what we can. I will forever be grateful to Silverado for loving my husband & giving him the best care that he deserves! Loving wife, Shawna D

By the time my grandmother moved into Silverado, her Alzheimer's disease was fairly advanced. She moved from a skilled nursing facility that did not address her needs properly to Silverado, which specializes in dementia/memory issue patients. I wished she had been able to take advantage of more of the available programs at Silverado. The staff appeared to understand how to deal with her advancing illness well. The Silverado staff members I encountered while visiting seemed to be very attentive to the residents. Every time I came to visit, my grandmother was participating or at least looking in on things around her. They have a collection of animal that sparked positive memories that my grandmother couldn't previously tap into. Outside in the courtyard there is also a small garden with labelled plants that proved to be a constructive talking point. On her birthday they set up a little party for her in one of the communal kitchen areas. Overall, my experience with Silverado was very positive.

My father with Alzheimer's was a resident in this very pricey facility. I live out of state, and was only able to visit every few months. On one visit, he was sitting outside in his wheelchair in the sun, with an obvious eye infection, unable to open his eyes. On another visit, he had signs of an obvious stroke - I was never notified. Despite the fact my father was able to walk, he was kept in a wheelchair, and never assisted with ambulation. At each of my visits, I showed the staff how to assist him with walking, and requested that they keep him mobile, they never did. Dad is now in a Board and Care, receiving much more personalized care.
