We were very impressed from the moment we walked into the facility. It was immaculate and all the house quests seemed to be happy. The style of the facility was furnished in a country theme. So, it made the facility feel like a home not an assisted living facility. The staff was very nice and polite to the all of the house quest. We toured the facility and different styles of rooms they offered along with the price range. We liked this facility because it offered different levels of care for Dementia patients. Since my mother - in - law was only at stage one. She would be living pretty much on her own with only a little bit of assistance but once the disease progressed they offered other levels of care for her. So, she didn't have to move to a different facility, which eased our minds greatly. They also allowed pets in the facility as well. So, we didn't have to worry about my mother - in - law getting upset about losing her beloved pet.

My sister was in Sunshine Care Home, but she had an accident there. She had a broken walker that they had her using, and she fell and broke her arm. They evicted her because they said that she needed too much care. The caregiver was helping her shower; she didn’t need to because my sister had been showering herself for years, and she was breaking her down. She brought her back 20 years as far as her being independent. My sister would brush her teeth, get ready for a program, and get dressed. She loved picking out her own clothes, but they took all her clothes and locked them away. The owner there was picking on my sister a lot. She has schizophrenia; she can’t stand if someone doesn’t like her, so she was trying to please the owner. She has gotten nowhere, and she was getting very agitated. When she was in the worst part of her breakdown, she was yelling back at the voices that were yelling in her head and doing this during the night. It was disturbing the other clients, but the owner went and screamed into her face to try to get her to stop. That’s the last thing you do to calm her down. I wouldn’t trust that man for anything. They should know more about mental illness. It’s almost like they’re breaking the clients down to be more submissive to everything. Most of them walk around like the walking dead; it's very depressing. The only place that they can smoke is in the bright sunlight. They do have some air conditioning inside, but it’s very little. I would never recommend anybody to put their loved one in there because it’s not at all what it appears to be.
