Laverne Place

My mother was at Laverne Place for a short period of time. It was a private home with four other residents. She didn't like the food and overall, she didn't like it there. What I didn't like is they got her up at 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning, put her in her wheelchair and they would keep her there until about 6:00 after dinner, which is usually about 5:00. After they eat, they put them back into bed for the rest of the night and that's a long time to be in bed. That aspect I wasn't pleased about, as well as the lack of privacy. There are two people to a room. When they bed panned her, there was nothing dividing her and the other resident, so she was just out in the open and sometimes they didn't cover her. She was not happy with them at all. The food was real inexpensive, basic food. It wasn't terrible, but it was just real basic, bland food. The only activity I saw was when they had outside therapy. She had a Kaiser therapist to do exercises with her. They kept everything clean, but it was real basic. It's run by Filipinos. What she didn't like was when there were two staff members in the room at the same time, they'd be talking in their native tongue, and she didn't know what they were saying, and that irritated her.
