"We toured Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. We met with a lady, Dawn. Their costs are relatively the same as those of other facilities. It's something we need to consider. She showed us all the facilities. It's a very well-maintained and great facility, and we will certainly give it a high rating. She showed us a one-bedroom at the time, because the others were occupied, and the person who wanted to show us the two-bedroom wasn't there, so we couldn't see a two-bedroom, but she gave us a floor plan. Hunters Woods is very modern."

"My husband and I are going to be moving to The Trillium Tysons for independent living. I think it's the best. Everything's around there; it's the 10th floor, which thrills us, and we got a corner unit, so we get sun and light on both sides. It's beautiful and surpassed my expectations. I saw pictures of it first on the internet, so I expected it to be nice, but when we walked in there, we were awed. I'm having the master bedroom and master bath changed to be the color of our bedroom now because it's the most soothing color. They said they would have done the whole apartment if we wanted. They also said if we wanted to have the closet organizers we have in our house, they could do that for us. They're also going to put grab bars in the shower because that's very important to me. As it is right now, they don't have a door in the shower, so we're getting glass doors in the shower, which they're doing for us, too. The lady who worked with us was as patient as could be. She drew things out for us, answered every question we had, and said that if we had any further questions, we should not hesitate to call. She has the sweetest personality so I just love her. When I came in, I said we've been driving around, and the coffee is horrible. She went and got us a latte during the meeting. If that's an indication of what the service will be like, then I'd rate them highly. She is outstanding. The place is conveniently located near everything, with all the stores and doctors around. That's if you want to go outside, because you don't have to. Everything is already there for you. I would say within a square mile, you have banks, hairdressers, and a movie theater. It's like a village unto itself. You have a choice of a 20-meal package or a 30-meal package. We took the 20-meal package because we like to eat out a lot, and there are a lot of restaurants around there, too. The 20-meal package means you get at least one meal a day. The person we are working with said most people go for dinner because it's a big, fancy meal. They have a Michelin chef there, too. She did say that if you went beyond your 20 or 30 meals, you could get a card and you could pay for it."

"Everyone at The Ridge at Sterling was especially friendly. They let us have lunch on our tour and the food was wonderful. The facility is going through a renovation. They've made really good choices with the materials they've chosen. Its flooring is good for walkers and wheelchairs. The coloring is nice, light, and friendly in appearance. The design of the building is nice and spacious. The rooms are big with nice windows. The dining area was a lot like a restaurant. It was nicely decorated for Christmas. Everyone was positive like the staff interacting with the residents. It was a very positive environment. Everything seemed nice."

"We visited Sunrise of Vienna right after they opened. The community only had a few residents at the time we visited. The facility is absolutely beautiful. It is a five-star, modern, gorgeous hotel. It's really pretty. My mother-in-law prefers an older-style Sunrise or the more homey-style assisted living. However, for me and my husband, if we had been looking for ourselves, it's what we would have picked. They outdid themselves on just being a beautiful facility. They have pretty, nicely laid-out apartments. There are different views and stuff like that. It was just really nice. For the common areas, there were little outdoor patios. The staff was outstanding and very knowledgeable. We did not try the food, but the dining area was upscale and nicely done. However, even though I've been raving about it, there were only a couple of residents, so we didn't get to see the community as it would come together."

"Greenbrier Assisted Living was a single-family home that has been fitted for senior living, and it was very clean and very nice on the inside. The woman that I spoke to was also very nice. They've got 6 or 8 rooms and they all looked well taken care of. They had a nice sunroom area with a TV and a patio area with a grill."

"Our 92 year old mother recently moved in to Byron House. She was living independently until a few months ago when she decided she needed help and wanted to be around people to eat and socialize with daily.The staff are first rate, caring and compassionate. The rooms are beautiful and some have wooded views. We are very happy with our selection. "

"My husband moved into Sunrise of Hunter Mill. We like the idea that the facility was smaller, and we thought that that would be advantageous for my husband. It was a little closer to home as well. It was just a good vibe. I had a good feelng about the place. Everybody seems so kind and upbeat. It's a really lovely place. They promoted the involvement of the residents. He's kind of a solitary person, and we thought this would be a good opportunity for him to at least be around other people and socialize, so that's why we chose it. The staff is very nice, very accommodating, and very upbeat. They keep you informed as to what they've done and his progress. I like that they communicate. You don't have to hunt them down to talk to them. Their availability is huge for me. I like to know what's going on. We had lunch and the food was good. We enjoyed it. My husband likes the food, too. They come in, they clean the room, and they pick up the trash. Downstairs in the main lobby, in the seating areas and activity areas, everything's very clean. They're very impressive. They have arts and crafts, exercise a couple of times a day. They try to group individuals that they feel may be similar in some way together, sitting them at the dinner table and also with the activities. It's a little cold right now, but the staff said that they go outside when the weather's permitting and they have all kinds of outside activities as well. They're taking them on little trips down to the ice cream store or wherever it might be like shopping if they're able to. They have everything planned out perfectly. It's expensive, but it's still a very competitive range compared to other centers that are similar in size or what they offer. It's moderate as far as expense goes."

"Sunrise of McLean Village is a beautiful, newer community that has a gorgeous courtyard garden. It's very clean. The staff seems very attentive to the residents. There is a wonderful dining area with a great menu. They have lots of activities. They have a happy hour in their little lounge area."

"After a lengthy search, we found the perfect home for Mom that checked all the boxes: Safe, clean, attentive staff, home-cooked meals, happy residents and conveniently located near family. The home has good natural light and the sun in Mom’s room makes it cheerful. The owner is an experienced registered nurse who understands the needs of the resident. She effectively communicates with Mom, family members and caregivers to provide Mom with an individualized care management plan to ensure she stays healthy, safe, and happy. Her good judgement and communication have relieved our family of worrying about Mom’s care and have enabled us to spend quality time when we visit. Mom loves the caring and attentive staff who make her feel loved and special. They go above and beyond to help her and make her happy. Mom always looks forward to the meals.
