My father is now a resident of Sunrise of Hunter Mill. It's an excellent community and the staff is very friendly, they're very social and very welcoming to my father. They are excellent and very responsive, they will get back to me with any questions. They are very proactive in making sure my father received P.T. and any therapy he needs. I'm very, very happy with the service. They have double capacity and single capacity rooms. He has a double capacity, and currently, he's the only resident within that double capacity. There are a lot of activities but when he checked in, there was a COVID lockdown so he was very limited. This week, they have self-guided exercise on the TV, they'll take him down to eat and socialize in the dining room area. They have a barbershop where my dad got his haircut there and they also have a library. My two sisters had dinner with him the first night, and they said the food was delicious. In terms of the value, it's very fair compared to the other ones we've seen. The layout of the facility is very good, open, and very clean.

My husband moved into Sunrise of Hunter Mill. We like the idea that the facility was smaller, and we thought that that would be advantageous for my husband. It was a little closer to home as well. It was just a good vibe. I had a good feelng about the place. Everybody seems so kind and upbeat. It's a really lovely place. They promoted the involvement of the residents. He's kind of a solitary person, and we thought this would be a good opportunity for him to at least be around other people and socialize, so that's why we chose it. The staff is very nice, very accommodating, and very upbeat. They keep you informed as to what they've done and his progress. I like that they communicate. You don't have to hunt them down to talk to them. Their availability is huge for me. I like to know what's going on. We had lunch and the food was good. We enjoyed it. My husband likes the food, too. They come in, they clean the room, and they pick up the trash. Downstairs in the main lobby, in the seating areas and activity areas, everything's very clean. They're very impressive. They have arts and crafts, exercise a couple of times a day. They try to group individuals that they feel may be similar in some way together, sitting them at the dinner table and also with the activities. It's a little cold right now, but the staff said that they go outside when the weather's permitting and they have all kinds of outside activities as well. They're taking them on little trips down to the ice cream store or wherever it might be like shopping if they're able to. They have everything planned out perfectly. It's expensive, but it's still a very competitive range compared to other centers that are similar in size or what they offer. It's moderate as far as expense goes.

Sunrise of Hunter Mill was a very beautiful place. It had nice surroundings, and it's very well architected, laid out, and very well taken care of, but they do not accept Medicaid. The staff member I talked to was very attentive and dedicated. It had a gathering place and a nice and large dining area.

We chose Sunrise of Hunter Mill for my brother because they were closer for the family to visit and accommodating. It's been great so far. When I talk to the staff, they can find me the answers that I need about what the facility offers, their programs, and their insurance. The activities are scheduled and go on as planned. He has no special diet. Most of the food is prepared for everyone, so it doesn't have a lot of seasoning or spices on it.

My Mother was always very independent, when it became clear she could not live on her own. My Sister and I visited a number of Assisted living homes. The BEST decision we made was to select Sunrise at Hunter Mill. They took her in and she immediately started to improve. The staff was always very professional , passionate and caring They made her feel like it was her home. They engaged her right from day one and this continued until her demise. To my Mother they became her adopted family. I can not Thank enough the staff there made his last six months most enjoyable. Some of them even came to her funeral which was again above and beyond the call of duty.

I really liked Sunrise of Hunter Mill. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good location for us, and it's slightly out of the way. They have a lot of services, and it's a very nice and clean facility. While on the tour, it gave me a good impression. I only got to see the printed schedule of activities, but it looks good, it looks like there's a variety of things that are going on there, and the dining area is clean.

I have experience with Sunrise of Hunter Mill because my uncle was there in the memory care for three years, 2008-2011 and that's why I went back there in considering a place for my mother. Returning there I guess 5 years had passed, it looked worn and depressing. So we ruled that out even though it was my original inclination to have my mom go where she already knew because she had visited her brother, my uncle, there. The staff at the time that my uncle lived there was very nice and helpful, they were fine. The facility looked run down. The grounds are beautiful. It has a nice, calm area or grounds around the building and lots of landscaping, beautiful plants and flowers. The dining area for the memory care looked worn down. They could improve the appearance of the facility for memory care. I wouldn't recommend it anymore, not that it's a terrible place, but now there are more options out there.

My father went to look at the place and thought it was nice. He thought it was a good place for my mom because there wasn't a smell, the people were friendly, and they had a memory care unit. She’s in the dementia unit, so she doesn’t attend any activities. The people are very caring. My dad deals with them more than I do, but they’ve been very good there.

I visited Sunrise of Hunter Mill. The food was fine. There were assisted living and memory care areas, and I only visited memory care. There were a lot of people who have worked there for a long time. The rooms were very nice and attractive. They just need to improve on having up-to-date skills when dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's. They're not as skilled as they should be.

It was excellent. The person who assisted me whose name was Stephanie -- and the whole staff -- was very open and welcoming and provided the right information. The rooms were clean and tidy. The dining room setup looked fine. I didn't eat there, but I would have because prior to taking my dad to tour, part of the plan was to go in with my father and eat there as well for him to get a feel of it, but we weren't able to do that. They had a full calendar of activities; some things that they did in the facility and some they did off of it like going to local attractions, shopping, shows, and dinner out. There were exercise classes, and it seemed there was something available every day. There was physical therapy available as well, a walk across the street to the public library, and walking maybe less than a quarter mile to the small shopping center with a grocery store, coffee shop, and that sort of thing. Security seemed good to me. My concern was being able to see him, and I was assured I'd be able to see him pretty much when I wanted to, I could get in and out. At the front door, there was a person at the front desk every time I went in there greeting me. The thing that decided me on it was the people were very nice. I met some of the residents and they seemed content there. I bumped into some of my neighbors, who had their loved ones there, and they were very pleased with it. For me, the number one thing was location. My father lived 100 miles away, and the 200 mile round trip to visit him, which I was doing very frequently, was quite a burden. So this was less than a mile from my house, and I feel like I would be able to see him every day, a couple of times a day, and would actually be able to bring him to our house to eat dinner and do those sorts of things. I went to 10 different places; two were on my list to take him to, and Sunrise of Hunter Mill was number one.

Sunrise of Hunter Mill is a nice, comfortable place. It is well taken care of. They cannot really take care of special needs, but overall, I would say they are very good. They have bus trips and entertainment.

I moved my mother-in-law at Sunrise of Hunter Mill. The staff was fabulous. I actually have no complaints at all. She is well cared for and well fed. The staff got to know what her likes and dislikes were. I think they are wonderful. The only negative I would say about it is to me it needs a little bit of updating because it's a little bit worn looking.

We already got my parents in a place. The name of it is Sunrise of Hunter Mill. My parents chose it because it was close to the neighborhood they lived in. The room is close to a 5-star. It is a big room. Sunrise of Hunter Mill is a Victorian looking building. It is very nice. The staff is very helpful.

Sunrise of Hunter Mill is a very beautiful community. It had nice rooms. I like all the amenities that they have. The people seemed very happy there. I was impressed with everybody there. What I didn’t like about them is that it smelled like urine in their memory area.

We really liked Sunrise of Hunter Mill. However, that one was a little more expensive, and the community in general was a little old. The average age was a little older, and we felt like it wasn't an active community. The people being a little bit older, they were not as communicative. I took my mom there for lunch one time, and there must have been 70 people in the dining room, and we didn't hear any talking. That's a big turn off.

I saw several apartments at Sunrise of Hunter Mill. The rooms were great, and there's a really cute one. The people were nice. It had the same activities as the other ones. The only problem was traffic. It would be harder for me to go back and forth to see her.
