"We chose Oakwood Village Assisted Living, and my mother moved there. I was told by several people and my mother that the food is delicious. There are activities every day, they have transportation, and the room is very spacious, and the dining area looks like the dining room you find in your home, but bigger."

"The Claiborne at Shoe Creek had a welcoming atmosphere. During the visit, I only interacted with the lady giving us the tour, and she was understanding and informative. The amenities are not all on one level. They have a gym, salon, library, theater, and restaurant style dining. The upkeep of the place is excellent. The location is convenient to our family. It's not really close to the hospitals, but they do medical travels and stuff, and it's in proximity to existing physicians."

"My visit to The Care Center was pleasant. I visited this facility because my mother-in-law lived here before she passed on. She was no longer able to live alone in her apartment, so our family searched for an assisted living facility. Upon finding the facility we conducted a tour and decided that The Care Center would be the place where she would reside. The staff was friendly as well as personable. They learned her name very quickly to make her feel at home, as well as learning mine, my husband's, as well as my sister-in-law's name, being that we would be visiting her quite frequently. The amenities were good as well. The room itself was nicely sized since she would not be doing much moving around on her own. The facility itself was nice in that it provided exercise for her since she was unable to really move around a lot. My mother in law passed away months ago, but at least her transition was done around people who loved and cared for her the most. "

"Beautifully landscaped courtyard and private grounds, complete with recreational area for relaxing & socializing. Secured & gated, providing residents with safety & security. Licensure by the Louisiana Department of Social Services. Its position it's the very best, full of nature and life, it's a really perfect place to have a walk, the staff it's rather nice even if a saw better places sincerely, anyway the kindness of nature and the tranquillity of the place it's what to me makes this place special. The city of Baton Rouge it's pretty also, but somehow there aren't many buses to get to the city center, so sometimes you may feel a little bit isolated, and you can't get the guests to a daytrip in a museum or a cinema or something like that. In summer it may gets pretty hot, and the wooden structures doesn't helps at all! Beautiful place, rather beautiful people but bad structures and bad position. "

Fidelis Residential Care Homes is owned and operated by two Registered Nurses with over 35 years of ER and Senior Care experience. It was formed to provide affordable, safe, and comfortable living accommodations with 24-hour personal care for our elderly community without sacrificing the warm feeling of home. We view our homes as “the caring alternative to nursing homes and the intimate alternative to assisted living.” Family members and loved ones will get the attention and care that they deserve, but are not able to get in a large institutional facility. Regulated by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, our small assisted living facilities may care for those individuals who, because of the ageing process or physical frailty, may no longer be able to live safely at home, but who do not need nor desire a more institutional setting, such as a skilled nursing facility. While many residents choose Fidelis simply because they want a smaller setting, others with physical limitations (such as difficulty walking, or those with medical conditions that require close monitoring) also thrive here. Some residents may have had recent hospital stays or are completing physical therapy after an injury or operation. Until complete recovery, additional service such as physical therapy or home health care can be arranged to assist them as needed. To learn more about this provider’s license and review other available state reports, please visit: Louisiana Deparment of Health Adult Residential Care Directory

"After a very difficult and disappointing experience at a well-known nursing home, our family moved my mother to Fidelis Residential Care House on King Richard Drive in Baton Rouge. Looking back, we only wish we had found this place sooner. Fidelis truly feels like a home rather than a facility. The residential setting is comfortable, peaceful, and personal. From the beginning, it was clear that the staff genuinely cares about the people living there. The caregivers are attentive, compassionate, and consistent in the way they look after the residents. One of the biggest differences from our previous experience was the caregiver-to-resident ratio. The staff is able to watch residents more closely, stay on top of medical issues, and communicate quickly with family members and healthcare providers when something needs attention. Our mother has since passed away, but during her time at Fidelis she was always clean, comfortable, safe, and treated with dignity and kindness. That gave our family something that is priceless when caring for an elderly parent — peace of mind. If you are searching for a place for a loved one who can no longer safely care for themselves, I strongly recommend Fidelis Residential Care. It made a very meaningful difference for our family."

"Southside Gardens is probably where my father would go. It fits better within his budget. The amenities were good. The staff was very friendly and very caring. They have 2 different types of private area. The private rooms were smaller than those at another community, but the staff appeared to be just as caring. It was not as new, but the location was just as close to my father's present house, and the price was more fitting with his income at present without getting any assistance. And if residents needed to have special appointments, they were able to bring them to that and stay with the residents if they needed to."

"The grounds were well-kept and it didn't smell like other homes for the elderly that I'd been in. The staff was nice and escorted me to the friend I visited when she had moved or was outside of her room. Sometimes it seemed like an inordinate number of people were sitting in the halls unattended, but otherwise I thought it was a nicer facility than most I've been in. "

At Fidelis, caring for a small number of residents means greater attention to the care needs of our residents, and greater peace of mind for everyone. "Maison de Fleur was my second choice because it was new. The fact that it was so brand new, there were very few residents there, so the staff would be able to pay attention to the residents. It was very clean because it was very brand new. I smelled the cooking when I was there, and it was a very good smell. At that time though, they only had 5 residents, so I didn't see any of the posted activities."

"St. James Place was wonderful, but I can't afford it. It's beautiful. I have friends who are there and my sister looked at it too. I loved it. The rooms that we saw were very nice and had high ceilings. If it weren't for my finances, I would probably move in in a minute. It had grounds, a lot of green space, and a lake. You could have a garden home, a cottage, a 2-bedroom, or a 1-bedroom. You could choose assisted living or memory care. It would cost more, but you could progress and still stay in the same place. The staff member I met was very friendly and very nice. Everyone spoke to you as you walked down the hall. The food was delicious."

"I did a tour of Garden View Assisted Living - Baton Rouge. I liked everything about it. It was good, but my mom just liked the other one better. The staff members were very understanding and informative. They were excellent. It was just well-maintained with lots of amenities. They have an exercise room and a salon. They had a nice courtyard and outdoor area, all that stuff. It's close to our family, and close to the hospital."

"I visited Holly Court Assisted Living. It looked very nice and clean. I didn't have any interaction with the staff other than the person who was giving me the tour. She was helpful, answered questions, and showed me a sample room, which is a studio. I liked the place, but it was out of my brother-in-law's price range, unless he shared a room. If he did a semi-private room, he might be able to go there. The dining area was empty when I went, but it was clean."

"La Plantation Retirement Community was very nice. Its homey in a big plantation style place, and we're looking at putting my aunt in there. We met several of the staff members including the kitchen staff; they were very out and about and very friendly. There were lots of activities for them to do. Its very reasonably priced. The rooms were bigger than the other places -- which is nice -- and they have tub and shower combos. It's a bigger, more open space kind of atmosphere. "

"The Claiborne at Baton Rouge is clean, pretty, and stylish. We went to look at their assisted living for my parents. They have what they call a rehab, where the residents exercise to get them moving. There is also a common area for activities. We tried their food. The service was good, but the taste of the food wasn't as good as the other places we went to."

"One of the reasons Mom and Dad picked Magnolia Brook on Siegen was that they have memory care facilities and mom is settling into that. I really like the facility. The staff has been attentive. They have worked with the family, and they helped us deal with the fact that Mom and Dad didn't have any kids in the immediate area. I highly recommend them. Mom and Dad started in assisted living, but after Dad passed away, that was no longer a good plan, so Mom moved to memory care. The staff is very good, extremely professional, more than helpful, and caring. They make me feel like they're making my parents part of the family. They said the food was good, but I haven't eaten there personally. They were being treated through a nutritionist's standpoint, so they were being provided with the nutrition they needed."
