"We primarily chose this community because it is in a location that is familiar to my mother. She will be moving there next week. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and were very quick to answer any questions we might have. They're very empathetic to my mother's situation as well. I would say the room we saw was spacious and in good condition. It has lots of available natural light. We toured assisted living. We were in a dining room, which was very nice. It was not overly elegant. We visited the library too. I think we also went into a laundry room. Everything was very clean and well organized. I did notice raised planter boxes, which I assume are so that the residents don't have to bend over to take care of the plants. There was a very large porch with a roof and rocking chairs and benches along the perimeter of the property. It doesn't have a huge outdoor area. It was like a little covered pavilion. We actually ate in the dining room, and we were very pleased with the meal. The servers were wonderful too."

"Overall it was very clean and well maintained, like that you would expect of a nice hotel. There were no odd smells or strong cleaning products. We were all impressed by the promotion of healthy living, physical fitness, and mental help if needed. A large pool and workout area, all pluses. I mean, it definitely had an old people vibe walking around, as in the carpet and floral decorations, though, that's the sort of thing that would bug me and not my boyfriends grandmother. "

"Just this morning, I toured Monarch Southbury. I think what I like least is simply the fact that it's farther from where I live now in terms of being along the coast. Most of the things I do are in Fairfield County or New Haven County. The person who conducted the tour was very good. The facilities seemed very good. Some renovations were going on. The layout was good. I saw a single room, and that was a little on the small side. However, the rooms were well laid out, and they were very good."

"I tried to keep my husband Rich home for as long as possible. He was a 72 year old when things started getting very hard to manage. Finding Maplewood at Orange has given Rich a new lease on life. He is thriving there. Everyone from the top down has given Rich their all. It is very easy to get in touch with management and they get back to you immediately. The community is extremely clean. The food is delicious. The numerous activities are geared towards all interests. The grounds are beautiful. When my daughters, grand daughter, and grand dog and I visit we all feel we are part of the family. Everyone who works there knows our names and is so welcoming and inviting. I am so thankful for Maplewood at Orange."

"I visited Avery Heights. I looked into a one-bedroom apartment, which was about 600 square feet. This is an older facility, so the arrangement of the rooms is kind of unique. There are about 113 units there. They had a movie theater, a cafe, and full-service salons. The areas that I saw were lovely. The programming seemed to be good. The people who were there for me were a little bit older and maybe not in line with what I would be doing. Other than that, I don't have any negatives on it at all. It's all one building, but there are hallways, so your independent living is in one area, your assisted living is in another area, and memory care is in another. You don't need to go outside to go to any of those. I was able to review a month's schedule of activities and their food, and what I saw was very interesting and looked fine. When you walk into this facility, it's just absolutely beautiful. It's like going into a museum as opposed to a modern facility. It has beautiful architecture."

"Such a wonderful facility within a great community! Best thing about Dogwood Home is the staff, who will go above and beyond to meet the residents every need and wish. The communal area is great, offering a range of things to do. Conveinent salon set up area, so you can get your hair done in the comfort of the home. Rest assured placing your loved one here, it will feel just like home! "

"So very glad to have found Just Like Home! The house is bright, clean and comfortable. My Mom feels very much at home. The staff is amazing; so caring and attentive. The residents enjoy all the musical guests and fitness trainers that come to the house. "

"Hoffman SummerWood Community was overall really good. We sampled some of the pastries that they offer, which were good. They had a life-alert pendant that comes standard with your rent. As long as you're within a certain radius of the facility, you have that available to you and you don't have to pay anything extra. They pretty much have the same things as the other places. The staff during the tour was very good. They had a great menu that they offered for lunch and dinner."

"It had a more open and bright appearance when you walked in to the lobby. They have a lot of shrubbery, plants and flowers. Almost every apartment has either a patio or a balcony so that you can sit outside. All the patio furniture is the same and it has a more countryside setting. "

"The staff was very attentive. The place was very clean. They have activities for the residents like gardening. The house and community I saw looked happy. But I kind of put that on the back burner for a while, because I'm not prepared. I'm just not ready for that right now because I'm able to cook for myself, wash my dishes, and clean the house. But when the time comes, and it could be tomorrow, I'll be ready for it. "

"Spring Meadows Trumbull was very nice; I liked it very much. The staff was very nice, courteous, and helpful. The rooms were beautiful. We’re looking at a two-bedroom with a kitchen, and they’re gorgeous. We stayed for dinner, and the food was terrific. The dining area had a nice atmosphere, and the grounds were beautiful. It was very pleasant to be there. "

"I have been living in Maplewood at Newtown. It is fine. I have been here for over a year now. The staff members are very nice and very accommodating. They have bingo, crossword puzzles, and mahjong. They have a little movie theater, too. Food is very good."
