"Mom is at Valley Royale Care and it's been an excellent experience. We like that it's smaller, more personalized, private, and quiet, and they're very caring. It's well-kept, clean, organized, and safely built for the residents. It makes it feel very comfortable for them. The food is prepared for them. It's healthy and they're customizing it to their diet. They're also able to do what they like to do, whether they go for a stroll or a walk outside. They can do anything that the resident likes."

"My parents moved into Astoria Senior Living - Oakdale a few days ago. The grounds are beautiful. There are lots of shade trees and places outside to sit. We've only been there four or five days, but so far we love it. The staff was amazing. They try to get everyone involved. They're there to answer any of your questions. The nurses are very attentive. The dining area is set up like a little restaurant. It's very cute. My mom has enjoyed the food. My dad has to have a pureed diet, so he doesn't like anything. For activities, they offer three or four things a day. They have bingo. They have an exercise class. Yesterday, they had sundaes with their families. They invited families to come. They have like an afternoon matinee. Sometimes they take the bus and go out to breakfast, or on little field trips."

"Vintage is very clean and it is affordable. The staff is fine and they were able to address our questions. Mother enjoys the game show TV channel and she has a little garden because she has a patio. "

"We went to Dale Commons. I was a very accommodating experience. They worked with me fairly well on my specific needs. I liked the apartments and everything looked good. They had nice showers. I happened to meet a resident outside before I walked in. I had a quick chat with her, and she had been in there for 12 years. She had a very good opinion of the place, and she enjoyed it very much. "

"My father liked it. We liked the friendliness of the staff. The person who toured us was very knowledgeable. She answered every question. She took us through the places and introduced us to the residents. She then explained the programs that they do. The place was very clean. They have a patio area, green lawns, and a small path that someone could walk for exercise. They even had a barbecue that the family could use. It was really nice and I was extremely impressed."

"We have placed my father-in-law and I think we are going to place my mother-in-law here. My wife found it online, she went over there, interviewed the nurses and the staff and thought this was a good match, and we were really happy with them. They are great carer, they are very attentive to their residents. We are very pleased and at first he wasn’t happy, but he is really happy with the place now. They get three meals a day, and he is really enjoying it. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a varied menu. They do have an activities board where they do stuff on a daily basis; the person can participate or not. They have a movie night with popcorn, or they might have balloon pass, singing and as far as the care there must be four people that appear to be available at all times. If somebody need special care with eating, I see them helping them eat, and they will make special food for someone with a special diet or cannot chew -- they mashed it out for them -- very friendly and patient. Each person has a private room and shares a bathroom with the next door neighbor, and the rooms were around the outside of the building. It’s a locked facility. The middle is the kitchen, dining room, and TV room, and in the very center of the long building there is a place they can go outside. It’s in the middle of the building so they can’t escape from there, but they can sit out in the sun in chairs, tables, and shades. "

"My wife and I toured Amie Marchini Park Merced's assisted living, and I liked it. The person we dealt with was terrific, and all of the staff seemed very friendly. One of the things that impressed me was that they all knew all of the guests by name. Other than it's pretty old, the facility was very clean."

"Samaritan Village is a very beautiful community. They were very, very helpful, very polite, and very friendly. They have lots to offer for somebody with my dad's care and needs. It's very clean, very uplifting, and very encouraging. We talked to some of the seniors there, and some of them have only been there for two weeks, and they were very happy. They never experienced anything like this. The people are just very outgoing. If I had to rate it a ten out of a ten, I'd give it a ten. They have a five-star restaurant there open to the public. They offer their clients 45 meals free a month. The family members can come and stay up to two weeks with the family member that's there. They have a place where the family member can do puzzles and read books, and they have theaters. They have just so much to offer for the family member that goes there. The rooms are brand new. The buildings are kept. They have an exercise room. The bathroom is equipped for handicapped, and it's wheelchair accessible. It has its own kitchen facility and a front room. The only thing that they didn't have is it's not furnished. You furnish it the way you want it to be furnished. They have someone come in and help clean every so often. It's very, very nice. It's like an apartment, almost like a hotel, but better. It's like a five-star hotel. It's just beautiful. All you see are happy elderly people, and they're very friendly, and they just seemed very content. When you go in there, you don't see a bunch of grouchy people in there."

"We went to take a look around this place. Staff wss nice they offered drinks and snacks in a really kind manner. Facilities is neat and tidy. Well-designed bathrooms and bedrooms. Beautiful backyard. Due of distance, we were unable to place my dad there. "

"My husband was at Welcome Home for about six or seven months. Our experience was very well. I would highly recommend it. The caregivers were very nice and very supportive of the residents. It's a residential home. They cook their food all from scratch and whatever the resident likes, they would try to make it for them and if they had a favorite food. They had TVs in each room. The caregivers were very sympathetic and very respectful of the residents. The facility was clean and well-lit. They have a backyard with bird feeders and a small garden where they would let them go out there and pick the fruit or the vegetables if they wanted to, but while we were there, they did not have entertainment come in. They would help them do exercises and they watch TV. If they wanted to read, they would read to them, but they didn't have what you would call activities. I think the prices were reasonable."

"My dad is at Golden Age. They have 10 homes, and they're residential homes. He is at the one in Effingham. They can hold six residents. The place is great. It's a small setting. In the larger communities, my worry was that my dad would get forgotten because there are so many people in there. With Golden Age, it is a residential home. It's like a family. All six residents come and sit at the dining room table together and have their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You get a more warm and fuzzy feeling. They're not going to get lost in the crowd of other patients. Plus, they have hospice that comes in there. If the resident qualifies for hospice, they come to the house. There's a medical service where a doctor comes to the home to see the residents. I don't know how many times a week, but there's a nurse that comes in and make sure that the medications are fine. They check the patients over there, so they don't have to transport anybody from the home to a doctor's office because it's just not good to be taking them out. My dad has been there for about two weeks now. The staff are great. Food is fresh and cooked every day. The kitchen is right there, so the residents can watch the cooking going on. They're all together in the dining room and the kitchen. For the patients that are in there, they really don't have the mental capacity to do activities. I was there at lunchtime the other day. If they're having a sandwich or watermelon or whatever for their lunch, the girl will cut their sandwich up in squares. At least they're getting that hand-eye coordination because these people, their minds are gone so much that they can't do much. They can't do crossword puzzles because their brain is sick, so they do what they can. They do their best."

"My father will be moving to St. Thomas Retirement Center and Assisted Living. I like the way that it's run and operated, it feels like the people think of it as a vocation rather than a job. I think the care is going to be better and the environment is very homey and warm. They have a room for exercise, they have an open and large living room where they can gather on couches and watch TV, they have a nice internal court between the two long corridors of rooms, there's an outside court, and there's a chapel for mass."

"We stayed in Las Palmas Estates last December. The food is great, the people are great, but they have bedbugs. You don't do very much there. They had a list of activities, we didn't do much, we played bingo. We went to the Christmas party. I think sometimes they have somebody come in and do people's hair. I know they're doing people's nails. They need to listen to their people because I talked to the manager, I told her, other people told me they were being bitten. She says "We don't have bed bugs." I mean, my daughter got bitten terribly, the first night we were there. We brought bedding, and after that, she wasn't."

"St. Francis Assisted Care was nice. They have done some upgrades to it and the landscaping. The rooms were all nice, clean, and painted and there were bathrooms inside the rooms. I really liked it. They had a lot of activities. All of the residents were pretty much participative. It looked like a social club where they play games and everybody is involved. They looked comfortable and seemed like they were well taken care of. The room size is perfect. They had patio doors where they can go sit at little patio tables and chairs and put out their own potted plants if they want to. It didn't seem like they were closed in. When they went out to the patio, there were lots of flowers. "
