"What I liked the most about Abundant Residential Living Services Inc. was that it was a house and so the environment was not like a hospital feel. I liked that it seemed more personal and more welcoming than conventional assisted living for my father's transition to go from his home to another home. My father could not do much when he was there, but I liked that they had family-style meals together at a dining room table (if they chose to do so) and had home-cooked meals. They had animals in the backyard that he could see, too. There were some issues in the beginning that I didn't like. Sometimes they told me that they would have two people during the day at all times, and they did not. They'd have new people in, which I think is not comfortable for the elderly, in my opinion. If they can make their employees happy, they probably wouldn't leave and we wouldn't have new faces all the time. Two people were good though, but every once in a while, there'd be a brand new person."

"Guardian Angel Home Care is absolutely wonderful. My father-in-law is absolutely happy there. He has just blossomed since he got there. He gets individual attention and is thriving. He loves the food and has gained weight since he's been there. They keep him very busy, go out and let him use the exercise bicycle which he loves. They're very good in taking time to spend with him so he can go out and exercise. They're really good. I would rate the value for the money a 5 because I know how much it costs to take care of him, and it's not cheap."

"After touring multiple homes and not so great experiences, Joy Joyce is like a breath of much needed fresh air. Right away you can feel the sense of a real home environment. The staff is amazing. Unlike where my father had previously resided I can see his happiness and desire to thrive increase. It's so clean and the staff is extremely compassionate. "

"There are four siblings in my family. I am the only sibling who doesn't have any of my own children. So naturally I have been chosen to look for a nursing facility to care for my ill father. A co-worker recently suggested I look into Teresa's Tender Loving Care facility in Hilmar. I scheduled an appointment to visit this facility. As I walked into the facility I was greeted with open arms. The staff seemed very friendly and welcoming. I expressed my situation going into this and they assured me it's very normal. I was taking on a tour through the place. Everything seemed clean including where the staff does all their paperwork. I met with some of the guest living here. They all seemed very happy even some of their family members were visiting at the same time. I was then showed where the guest eat. The first thing I noticed was the order of everything. Cups, plate wear, chairs, tables, extremely clean kitchen, even the smell was refreshing. After my tour I met with the chief director to explore my families' options for my Dad. I was asked what were the things I was looking for, payment options, and the time frame for my Dad to move. As of now my overall experience of Teresa's Tender Loving Care facility was great. For someone who has no real idea how this works I was taught about everything I needed to know and have taken this information back to my family. As a family we are still searching for different options for my Dad due to cost issues. "

"We stayed in Las Palmas Estates last December. The food is great, the people are great, but they have bedbugs. You don't do very much there. They had a list of activities, we didn't do much, we played bingo. We went to the Christmas party. I think sometimes they have somebody come in and do people's hair. I know they're doing people's nails. They need to listen to their people because I talked to the manager, I told her, other people told me they were being bitten. She says "We don't have bed bugs." I mean, my daughter got bitten terribly, the first night we were there. We brought bedding, and after that, she wasn't."

"Lifespring is very friendly and it has a homey atmosphere. They have shared rooms and private rooms. The price is very good too. Everything is clean, and the beds linens are changed often. The staff members connect with their guests. The nurses have relationships with all of them. The guests are happy too. They have nurses on staff all the time. Plus, they have workers in charge of the cleaning and workers in charge of the food. They serve three meals a day. My mom doesn't participate in a whole lot of activities, but they have Bingo and a lot of crafts. They also have someone that comes in every week to play the piano and sing for them."

"My father will be moving to St. Thomas Retirement Center and Assisted Living. I like the way that it's run and operated, it feels like the people think of it as a vocation rather than a job. I think the care is going to be better and the environment is very homey and warm. They have a room for exercise, they have an open and large living room where they can gather on couches and watch TV, they have a nice internal court between the two long corridors of rooms, there's an outside court, and there's a chapel for mass."

"My wife moved to St. Francis Assisted Care at the end of March of this year. It's like an apartment complex. They're very helpful. It is clean. They don't have a lot of activities; they spend a lot of time taking care of their residents. The staff is very friendly. They're there to do their job, and they don't mess around, which is good. My wife is a special situation where she seems to be asking for a lot of things, and they're very patient about helping her, getting her what she needs, and taking care of her requirements. They're very attentive, very nice, very good, and very professional. She has a shared room, and there is plenty of space for two persons to occupy the space. They do have other options where you wouldn't have to share a room, but it's cheaper if you will share a room, and it also helps to give them some company, so that they're not always alone. The dining facility is sufficient for the number of people they've got. It's clean, and even right after mealtime, I'm really surprised that it's not a mess. They do have meals on a regular basis that were very substantial. They're pretty conscious about any dietary requirements for any given person. They make sure they give the appropriate meal for the condition of their diet. Their food varies, and it was very good and very well balanced. "

"We went to take a look around this place. Staff wss nice they offered drinks and snacks in a really kind manner. Facilities is neat and tidy. Well-designed bathrooms and bedrooms. Beautiful backyard. Due of distance, we were unable to place my dad there. "

"At New Bethany the staff there is polite and full of kindness. The staff members are very experienced and help in any way possible to support the needs of the patients around them. There are day and night nurses to help provide optimum care for the senior citizens who are in need. The faculty is kept clean and orderly at all times. The facility is very big and spacious to accommodate all types of residents. The facility is split into two sections to provide optimum care for both general and special need patients. Railings are put out to ensure the safety of all members inside New Bethany. New Bethany also provides its patients with activities, game days, and workouts to help the patients feel as if their at home. "

"My husband was at Welcome Home for about six or seven months. Our experience was very well. I would highly recommend it. The caregivers were very nice and very supportive of the residents. It's a residential home. They cook their food all from scratch and whatever the resident likes, they would try to make it for them and if they had a favorite food. They had TVs in each room. The caregivers were very sympathetic and very respectful of the residents. The facility was clean and well-lit. They have a backyard with bird feeders and a small garden where they would let them go out there and pick the fruit or the vegetables if they wanted to, but while we were there, they did not have entertainment come in. They would help them do exercises and they watch TV. If they wanted to read, they would read to them, but they didn't have what you would call activities. I think the prices were reasonable."

"My dad is at Golden Age. They have 10 homes, and they're residential homes. He is at the one in Effingham. They can hold six residents. The place is great. It's a small setting. In the larger communities, my worry was that my dad would get forgotten because there are so many people in there. With Golden Age, it is a residential home. It's like a family. All six residents come and sit at the dining room table together and have their breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You get a more warm and fuzzy feeling. They're not going to get lost in the crowd of other patients. Plus, they have hospice that comes in there. If the resident qualifies for hospice, they come to the house. There's a medical service where a doctor comes to the home to see the residents. I don't know how many times a week, but there's a nurse that comes in and make sure that the medications are fine. They check the patients over there, so they don't have to transport anybody from the home to a doctor's office because it's just not good to be taking them out. My dad has been there for about two weeks now. The staff are great. Food is fresh and cooked every day. The kitchen is right there, so the residents can watch the cooking going on. They're all together in the dining room and the kitchen. For the patients that are in there, they really don't have the mental capacity to do activities. I was there at lunchtime the other day. If they're having a sandwich or watermelon or whatever for their lunch, the girl will cut their sandwich up in squares. At least they're getting that hand-eye coordination because these people, their minds are gone so much that they can't do much. They can't do crossword puzzles because their brain is sick, so they do what they can. They do their best."

"The tour I had at Bethel Retirement Community was really good. The staff was phenomenal. They showed me that they had different buildings and different facilities, depending on the amount of care the individual needed. Their rates were very competitive. I think they had the best rates of the places that I looked at. They had some activities going on while I was there and everybody was involved in them, so that was good to see. And they were enjoying themselves in the exercise classes and other things. They had a nice area for walking around. They had a library and they had a game room where people were playing games and Scrabble. The selection of food was surprisingly widespread. You could have 3 different choices at a given meal. They had different room floor plans. I was looking specifically at a studio because that's all they had available at the time. But there were different floor plans that they had for the studios. Some of them had a little mini kitchen in it. Some of them came furnished, other ones were unfurnished. The ones that came furnished were a little bit larger than the unfurnished ones."
