"Right now, my husband is in Franciscan Convalescent Hospital. He has Alzheimer's. I think he's getting good care for what they have to deal with. I think they're very caring. With regards to the condition of the place, everything in there is old, but it's clean, and it doesn't smell bad unless somebody has an accident, and they get to it right away. So it's clean, but it's just an older facility. I haven't eaten their food, but I've been there when my husband is eating, and it looks pretty good. The activities are very limited. I would like to see more outside activities with them. They have a nice fenced-in area in the back with a bird terrarium. They have someone in there that keeps them busy, plays music, and plays games with them."

"My mom is currently in rehab at the Anberry Transitional Care. It seems like the nurses care to get things right. The facility is clean and has a nice setup. My mom sits in the therapy now and is starting to walk again, so we haven't taken advantage of the other stuff. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nice."

"My mom was in Anberry Nursing & Rehab Center. The staff members were OK. I didn't have too much to do with them when I was there. She didn't like the food but she is kind of picky anyway. The room was kind of small. They can improve on their room space. Overall, I guess it was OK. "

"Covenant Village of Turlock includes independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing. It's a comprehensive and fairly large facility. They had a variety of sizes of independent living facilities, so you have a lot to choose from there. Some are apartment-type buildings and some are standalone cottages. They have trips, exercises led by people, exercise rooms with equipment, cards, dances, and a wood shop. It's pretty amazing. There's a continuum of care, and they're the best in that way. Nobody else that we found offers skilled nursing and they do. They have actual medical staff on-site. The staff member is very professional, knows what she's doing and does it very well. Meals are buffet-style. If the cost was lower, there would be no question; we would choose Covenant. However, they require a large buy-in. You put a lot of money down to go there, then you pay a rent. The rent is not as high as other places, but the buy-in is very large."

"My husband is in Elness Convalescent Hospital. The rooms to me are brighter. I think it gives the patients a more positive outlook. The hallways are wide enough for the wheelchairs and the nursing staff and visitors to negotiate without about having to bump each other. The nurses were wonderful. They are in and out of there all the time and if he is sleeping, they just make sure that he is sleeping comfortably. It seems like they are doing it more on a regular basis. The food and the presentation of the food are better. "

"My brother was in New Bethany in Los Banos a year ago for three months. We liked it because it's here in town. It's a little expensive, but it's easier for me. It's very nice, very clean, well done, and I don't have anything bad to say about it. It's not super exceptional, but they treated him well there. The facility itself was absolutely gorgeous. It's well landscaped, it has a well-furnished inside, and it's very cozy. They also had it well done on the holidays. The staff was very good, friendly, and helpful. For activities, they had a game room."

"I would visit my grandma frequently, it made me and my children very sad to visit. The staff was very friendly and sweet. One thing that bothered me intesly about this home was that there was not alot of privacy. Although most of the staff was nice, some would step right outside the sliding glass door and smoke their ciggarrettes. One time I even saw a elderly man out alone on a hospital bed out on the grass. No one was with him. This really didn't settle well with me. I wish I had gone back and helped him. Also, the home did not seem very clean to me. Perhaps my expectations are too high, but that is how I feel "

"Vicente and I have a grandma staying at this facility currently, she's been there for three years now. I live close by the facility, so I get to visit her often. Every time, I go there the staff is very nice and helpful. The facility is always kept up. The facility is surrounded by farmland. The atmosphere is very inviting and friendly. My grandma is very active in her age and the facility provides lots of activities. My grandma has nothing but good things to say about where she's at. I am at peace with her being there. The staff takes good care of their patients. The thing I love most about the place is the visiting hours and the schedule they have for their patients at the facility, I also love the food they give them, and the few medical staff taking care of certain patients that need medical treatment. In overall I would recommend this retirement center to any family with elders that are looking to retire. "
