"We placed mom at The Gables at Charlton Place Assisted Living two years ago. She's on the assisted living side. It's nice. They keep it all nice and clean. Her room is pretty big. There's plenty of room for her to navigate around in a wheelchair. The staff is doing better now. There was another lady there that they let go or something happened there, but they've changed up a little bit, so things are better than they were for a little while there. They do movies, they have ice cream, they have a piano, and sometimes they have people play. I think they do a shopping thing with them, too, so they keep a lot going on for entertainment. They do good on the food. I haven't had any complaints from her, maybe once or twice over a long period of time, so they do good on that."

"I'm going to the Gardens of Wetumpka. I loved it. Everybody was so nice. The price is OK, and it includes everything. I won't get a bill at the end of the month to surprise me. I checked all around in Alabama, and that was the best place. My son and I looked at it and we didn't decide right away, but after we talked about it and looked at other places on the internet, we thought that was the best place for me to go. When I move in, the chef will meet me, and he will make food that I can eat. They have a calendar of everything that happens during the month. They give it out at the end of the previous month. They go to a seafood place sometimes to eat. They have buses that take the residents. They visit different places. They have a lot of activities going on. They have a crafts day and several things going on all during the month. There's a nursing home just down the street not far and you're transferred from there to the nursing home. The staff was very friendly and nice. I met the one from the corporate office while I was there. I met the administrator who showed me around and met with me. My son was with me, and he asked questions. We were very happy with everything. They told tell me they hope that I would decide to come there. The residents there were so friendly. They had two houses and I'm going to be in the second house. I already know where my room will be. They had a big back area, like a big patio that was covered where you could go out and read and watch the birds and that kind of stuff. They do puzzles and I love puzzles. I was pleased with everything and my son was too. This was not cheap, but it was all-inclusive. The administrator was wonderful."

"My mom has been a resident here over 3 years. Overjoyed with her care, well being and the love shown to her on a steady basis. Glenda(voice of Charlton Place!), nurses, CNAs, Dietary, Housekeeping all stellar. No place in Montgomery or surrounding area comes close to standards set here. Never, EVER have I seen any staff member on a cell phone, standing against the wall or deliberately not hearing a call bell. That is house wide. Always clean, fresh and quietly busy. Rooms are appropriately well sized, large bathrooms, wonderful parlor area for visits and dining rooms always clean! No sticky chair backs, table rims or seat bottoms. My mom is actively dying and since she can’t be with our family, I can rest better knowing her “other family” is loving her. Words cannot express my gratitude for Charlton Place and those who so lovingly serve those residents who are living out their last days. Staff has always been extremely respectful and attentive to needs of those who need extra assistance. While my mom doesn’t have much time left on this earth, she is being cared for in such a way I have NEVER seen in any facility in Montgomery and/or surrounding area. Charlton Place puts NEW MEANING to Rehab/Nursing Home/Elder Care Facility. Actually, just hearing the words Nursing Home/Rehab/Elder Care Facility would bring a sense of dread and mental darkness to my mind. CP defines what Elder Care truly means. I have tried to think of one negative aspect of CP but cannot. Charlton Place has reset the gold standard. Thank you so much for all you do and have done!"

"I had no idea that it was even there. It's hidden in a wooded area off Main St and I was greatly impressed with the staff and layout of the facility. It's more like a family home really than a facility. My cousin that has Parkinsons is there and really loves it. The staff was very attentive and kind. I can't speak to the food cause I didn't eat a meal but Jennifer did offer us a dessert that was delightful. My mother had a major stroke and was at a nursing home in Montgomery and I would have loved for her to be in a small home like this if she could have gotten the medical care she needed. I gave the review 4 stars instead of 5 due to it being just a little "dated" in the decor which is purely cosmetic. First impression was great mainly because the staff was so kind and caring. His room was an adequate size with a large bathroom with walk in shower and plenty of rails for stability. Everything from meals to laundry was provided. "

"We liked what we saw at John Knox Manor. They have been redoing some of the rooms, and they were really nice. People were very friendly. They have a place where they play games, cards, and different things. They also have a big flower garden out back where you can go out and plant your own plants if you want to. The lady who showed us the room said that they go on trips. We talked to some of the residents, and they were really pleased with it."

"We are going to sign a contract with CaraVita Village. Everybody is very friendly and very lowkey. One of the secretaries had to bring her children to work with her today, and they were beautifully behaved. The dining room had white tablecloths on the tables. The conversation was good at the tables. The amenities were absolutely amazing. They were having a luau the afternoon I was there. They have a designated area for the lady that runs the salon. They have a little Dollar Tree store, where everything in it is a dollar. It has a fully furnished library with computers. It has a swimming pool and so many places to enjoy the outdoors (when it's not 110 like it is here right now). There are umbrellas on patio tables and cushions on furniture on the porch. I was impressed. I'm looking for the smallest apartment they had available, so we went with a studio apartment. My cousin can't manage a kitchen or anything like that, and this one has no kitchen. It has nothing that resembles anything to do with cooking food, and that's what I was looking for. It's got two big closets and a nice sized bathroom. Everything was clean. They come in and clean once a week. They also come in and do laundry. They come in and vacuum, clean the bathroom, and dust everything in the room every week. The facility was clean and neat. There's a whole list of activities for the day. I ate lunch there. I asked the residents, "How do you like living here?" Two of the ladies said, "Well, it's not home, but we like it." That's what I wanted to hear. They said, "Everybody here is really nice to us." Everything was kept up. I didn't see anything that I thought needed repair. It really was good."

"I visited Second Home Assisted Living. The owner was very nice. She gave me a tour, and I thought it was not a good fit for my aunt. It's more like a home, not an assisted living facility, with three bedrooms, but no nurses on staff. The staff was very informative."

"I toured The Belmont. They're a very nice community. The rooms are very nice. If it's long-term, you furnish the room. They have a private room and private baths. They're gated so that they can't leave the facility. They have a beautiful lake right there where they can take their patients and they can eat around the lake and stuff like this. It's a nice unit. The staff was very courteous. I got to meet all of their staff, their nurses and everything, ask them questions, and just kind of interact with them. They were nice. They were very informative."

"Wesley Gardens Retirement Community was excellent. The community was very clean. It's a very nice experience. The room was very, very clean, and nice. The dining area was extremely superior. I didn't try their food, but I believe it's good because the restaurant was setup very nice, and it's clean and beautiful. The person who took us around was very professional, very kind, and patient. The facility was very up-to-date."

"My sister-in-law's mother was at John Knox at Arrowhead. They had their own doctor and staff. It's small, so you get a lot of attention. It was about the same as most of them, but it was very clean. She had probably one of the nicer rooms. It was a big room. The residents were very well taken care of. They were able to get out and get around. They all visited with each other. It was very nice and very well kept up. The staff I met was very nice, too. The dining area was very well lit and very quaint. They had three meals, and they had snacks in the middle of the day, too. My sister-in-law said they had all kinds of activities for them to do. The value for money would be a five because it would be twice as much trying to keep her at home."

"The Gardens have been a wonderful, caring facility for our mother. The staff all care deeply for the residents, and provide excellent service for all of those in their community. There are varied activities for the differing skills and abilities of all the members of the community. All members are encouraged to participate in all the activities. The food has always been excellent, with the family meals being exceptional. "

"My friend is currently in this facility and although she said some of the nurse practitioners and CNAs are ok most are lazy and some are downright rude. They run out of her meds, the food Is often cold when served and the very large wound on her leg is supposed to be cleaned and dressed daily but sometimes it goes 3 or 4 days without being taken care of. She has complained of chest pain and they do nothing to find out what has caused it. She has congestive heart failure and chest pain could mean something serious is going on. I would never send anyone to this facility, they need a good shake down from the director all the way down the line of employees. I'm old school, I believe if you take a job you should perform all you duties to the very best of your ability and not just go through the motions just enough to keep the job and collect a pay check."
