"My in-laws will be moving into The Crossings at Riverchase. The staff was very friendly and engaged. We heard good things from a couple of residents about the food. The units were all nicely laid out, spacious, and brand new. They have a salon, an exercise room, transportation, and they showed us a program schedule. They will get a two-bedroom apartment. They did a great job. We talked to the both the marketing director and the new resident director. We also met the overall facility administrator. It's brand new and spotless. They opened their assisted living the day or two before we visited (they just got a license)."

"I looked at Galleria Woods. It was nice too, and everybody said it was a great place to live, but I don't think there was any vacancy at the time. It was pretty. The landscaping, the entrance -- all of that was very nice. They didn't show me around really at all because there was no vacancy. I did not even have an appointment; I just drove in there, and I did drive through that area just to come and check things out in case there was a vacancy, but I think they stayed pretty much full. I was looking for a place for my mom and dad at that time. "

"Recently my aunt for whom I am Power of Attorney moved into Danberry at Inverness, Hoover, AL. Birmingham is her birthplace and she has family and friends that visit often. The facility is clean, staff is helpful, receptive, and knowledgeable. The other residents are very nice. The amenities for Danberry are top notch, really it is more like a mountain retreat than a place for old folks! Pricey, but worth every penny! "

"It was a three or four year old building. It was actually gorgeous and it was nice inside. The people were nice. I have an electric vehicle, and there's an electric charging station right there on the property. The rooms were nice, too. The one-bedroom had plenty of closet space. It had a washer and dryer in the facility. I met the staff and they were wonderful. It had more upgrades than the other facility I went to, but there's a lot of stuff I wouldn't even use. So, it doesn't matter. They had an outside court, and there was more green space to walk around in there. The only negative was when you leave the facility and make a left hand turn to get on the freeway, I wouldn't advise it. What I did was I turned right and went up to whether it was a light, and I could either make a U-turn or turn into an area and then make a turn and come back, but there was another way out of the place, in the back. So, you go around. It was a more open air kind of place. I had a meal there and the food was excellent. They were having a function event the next night. They have that one every month and the funny thing about it is they were saying that they have a lot of stuff and the lady said, "After dinner, we really get going around here," and I laughed to myself because after dinner, that's when I start slowing down, but there's plenty of activities. I don't know how many I would partake in, but this is a new thing that I'm exploring right now."

"I toured Brookdale University Park Alabama. The staff was very friendly. The residents seemed very happy, and the services seemed very good. I did not taste the food, but the menu looked good. Their breakfast was like scrambled eggs and bacon. Lunch was grilled chicken. The room sizes were good."

"My sister and I saw Longleaf Liberty Park's assisted living, although we did not realize at the time that it was assisted living. It was a lovely place in every way, but it just didn't fit our needs because we were not quite at the assisted living stage yet with my sister. The rooms were very nice, and the decor was lovely. You wouldn't feel like you were in a retirement facility. It looked more like a home rather than an institution. It was very colorful and I liked that. The rooms were fine, but then we realized it was assisted living, which kind of upset us a little bit. I didn't think there were as many available activities, and I understand why. If it's assisted living, of course, you might have some of the residents in wheelchairs so they couldn't go on a lot of excursions, perhaps. They had a beauty shop, and I think they even had a little small workout room with maybe some little weights in there if someone wanted to come and do chair aerobics. They certainly had things available for the residents who live there."

"The first thing you notice with any facility is the smell, especially an assisted living facility. St. Martin's in the Pines was just warm and did not give me the essence of an assisted living facility. The staff was on target, professional and new their clients. The front entrance was very well maintained and well with inside. I did not get the feeling that I was visiting a hospital. I felt that I was visiting a well kept home with just many great centurians, which she was almost. There is always this feeling of not wanting to be at one, but this is one that I would. "

"I visited Covenant Place of Gardendale. They were wonderful. The guy that I met with was the nicest human being I've ever met. He walked me through everything, told me everything, how they handled Covid, and how they handled the people. He knew what I wanted, and he was very attentive to everything that I asked and was very kind and considerate, as were all the people. Even the people on the virtual tour were all nice, too, very helpful, and answered a lot of questions. I wouldn't hesitate to have put my mother-in-law there if it hadn't been so expensive. I talked to the people that assist the residents there, the lady who provided medicines, and the lady who provided the activities. Every single person was fabulous. The facility was beautiful. The outside, the flowers, the garden, and the places where the people could go and see it were just gorgeous. They kept it up well. It looked very clean. I was completely impressed. They showed me a weekly menu and everything was good and the guy even told me that all the people love the food. They had painting, singing, and exercising. They said they would take them on outings."

"I went to Legacy Ridge Trussville. It's a very nice place. They were very nice. It was very clean. The staff said it was updated. The color and the decor were very pleasant. It was soft and soothing. They also had a beauty salon. I only met a couple of the staff members. I met the lady who's the one in charge of getting the residents move-in, and then I did meet one of the nurse's aides. But they were very, very nice. The lady called me several times. We just chatted for the sake of chatting. She's extremely nice and knowledgeable."

"I think The Bungalows at Riverchase assisted living was perfect for my mother. It was very personable, they could all decorate their doors individually, and it was really good. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. The facilities were beautiful but it's expensive. They have a salon, game nights, and they have good entertainment. They have a beauty parlor and laundry too."

"There was no designated person that gave tours on the day we visited Truewood by Merrill, Riverchase, but they still accommodated us, which we appreciated. They did not have a single room available. All they had were companion rooms. The windows looked out on the parking lot, so they did not have sunny areas inside, but they had an enclosed courtyard that was sunny, bright, and had benches to sit on. That was open for residents to go out there on their own."

"My aunt is now at Chateau Vestavia. This is our choice because it's close to where she's currently living. Aside from that, she had friends that had been there. Also the people were very nice and helpful when we stopped by the first time. This facility feels very friendly. Everybody seems to really care about their residents. My aunt has been there since July last year. She is in ALF. She is in a very nice one-bedroom apartment. At ALF, they don't allow kitchen but my aunt does have a refrigerator in her unit. With regards to activities, I do know that they have something posted everyday. It ranges from bingo to trips to various grocery stores. If you need to go to medical appointments, they can take you there as well, they can make arrangements for you. "

"Regency Retirement Village has provided care for several of our loved ones over the past 4 years. The Management and Staff personnel have consistently demonstrated their sincere interest in the well being and daily satisfaction of both their residents and the resident's families. My wife and I would enthusiastically encourage an interested family to tour the Regency Birmingham facility, to talk to the residents, and select Regency as your loved one's new home."

"I toured The Ridge at Grandview. It's beyond my means. But I like that it was clean and the people seemed attentive to their clients. The people were free to walk because they were already in a secure place, as long as they weren't disturbing other patients. So they were really courteous and they didn't hassle me about looking around. And of course, they showed me what my husband's room would look like. The room was clean and nice. It had a bed and a TV. It is like he's at home. It would have his personal stuff. The layout of the building was beautifully done, too."

"I had someone recommend Mount Royal Towers to me. The staff was helpful to an extent. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. I was there for physical rehab and stayed on site for a few weeks. I was able to get a look at the apartments. Their food was iffy. It wasn't anything special. They have dining rooms on each floor so there is not a central dining room. It is not elegant, but it is nice. I can't say that I had a great experience there, but I can't say that I had a bad one either. They have bingo and shuttle services to the shopping areas. "

It's modern, and the staff seemed nice. There are a lot of different offerings for the people that live there. It was large, and there were different places to eat. It was nice. "
