Regardless of department every team member at MorningStar at Arcadia undergoes dementia training through our Lavender Sky program, which is accredited through the Alzheimer's Association. Team members also participate in "Weekly Explore Meetings", where we discuss individualized care needs for residents.

Describe the overall population of assisted living residents at MorningStar at Arcadia. What is their average age? What are their favorite things to do?

MorningStar at Arcadia is a 55+ community. We have a spectrum of residents with varying ages - anywhere from 55 to over 100 years old! Our dedicated Life Enrichment Team actively creates activities/events that are fun, engaging, and desired by resident(s). We have live entertainment twice a week, bingo, and much more!

What programs or activities does MorningStar at Arcadia offer to enrich residents' well-being?

Our Life Enrichment Team creates a rigorous daily & monthly calendar of events that are intended to do more than just "occupy time"; every life enrichment activity is meant to be stimulating for our residents. Some events include (but are not limited to): museum outings, cultural presentations, and dementia education lectures. Through our WellStar program we have a full-time Wellness Director and Wellness Nurse (both licensed LPN's) that facilitate clinical care for our residents. Residents in our Assisted Living community also have their care monitored by our Assisted Living Coordinator.

MorningStar at Arcadia is nestled in the Arcadia and Biltmore neighborhoods, which are well-known for their exceptional dining and social attractions. There are a plethora of unique restaurants and timeless museums. Residents may also enjoy our transportation to nearby attractions every Thursday.

What transportation services does MorningStar at Arcadia offer to assisted living residents?

MorningStar at Arcadia provides medical transportation for our residents (within a designated radius) Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Thursdays we partake in social excursions, and Fridays we reserve for shopping outings. We have a wheelchair-accessible van and Cadillac in order to complete all transportation needs.

What makes the chef or dining program at MorningStar at Arcadia exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?

Our Dining Room - lovingly called Stardust Dining - is supervised by our Executive Chef with over 30 years of experience. In addition to our Executive Chef, we have culinary-trained Cooks that customize meals according to diet and make sure every plate is sprinkled with love. Menus are prepared on a weekly basis. Residents are served three meals per day, restaurant-style. For lunch and dinner we always offer two entrees and three sides, and if a resident is not keen on the daily menu choices they may always order from our "every day" menu.

What safety features or security measures does MorningStar at Arcadia offer to assisted living residents?

There is a Concierge every day from 8 am - 7:30 pm at our Front Desk to monitor residents and ensure their safety. Residents are free to come and go in Assisted Living, but through our "Voluntary Secure Environment" residents, visitors, and professionals must sign in/out when entering/exiting the building. Cameras are also equipped in the parameters of the building. When a Concierge is not present only individuals with a special key fob may have access to our building through either our Main Entrance and Underground Parking Garage.

Our Clinical Care Team contacts residents' families regularly regarding their loved one's care needs. We also communicate regularly with our residents' families through email and mail to ensure they are up-to-date regarding affairs of the community.

MorningStar at Arcadia hires according to acuity, and our care staff-to-resident ratio will increase/decrease depending on the time of day.

MorningStar at Arcadia is pet-friendly. We have a beautiful Courtyard facing the West of our building where animals - visiting or residing - may enjoy.

MorningStar at Arcadia has a full-time Life Enrichment Assistant that facilitates activities within our Memory Care (a.k.a. Reflections) neighborhood. Planned activities in Reflections often coincide with our Assisted Living residents as well. We have innovative technology through It’s Never 2 Late ® (iN2L) - an interactive, touch-screen program where residents may set up their own profile for games suited to their unique need(s).

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Our Clinical Care Team - culminated by our Wellness Director, Wellness Nurse, and Reflections Coordinator - ensure that care is appropriate for each resident and followed according to their unique care plan. Assessments are reviewed every [3] months by residents' families but may be reviewed/updated at any time.

What techniques does MorningStar at Arcadia use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

Residents in our Memory Care (a.k.a. Reflections) neighborhood are presented visual options for meals, which are served on colorful plate ware to stimulate appetite. We may also modify diets according to resident's needs (puree, mechanical soft, etc.). Residents that need assistance with dining are also assisted by our care team.
