With its abundance of golf courses, resorts and spas, warm, dry climate and proximity to Phoenix, Scottsdale is considered a premiere destination for retirees. About 23% of the residents are aged 65 and over, giving Scottsdale the highest concentration of seniors among U.S. cities with populations over 100,000. For those who enjoy art and culture, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art showcases world-class events, lectures and exhibits throughout the year. The “All Things Senior” Expo takes place each February at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, showcasing products, services and resources specifically for the city’s age 50+ community. Seniors get around the entire metro area with ease, thanks to free Scottsdale Trolley routes and Valley Metro’s reduced fare program.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
