I am an almost completely bed bound veteran and when I signed up with this company, during the initial visit with this company’s representative, I explained exactly what I needed and was assured it was all available. My primary need, other than basic cleaning and sweeping was that my care giver was allowed to take me to and from doctor’s appointments as well as running errands for me, ie. picking up fast food on occasion and picking up items from various grocery stores. There were several hiccups in the beginning, such as sending a person that didn’t even understand how to change the linens on my hospital bed but after a few disappointing attempts I was assigned a care giver that I meshed with. One day the “new” Pensacola office manager showed up unannounced and asked where my care giver was and I explained that I had asked her to go to Walmart to pick up some things for me. Her reply was that the care giver was not allowed to do that. This opened up a whole can of worms because I found out that this company would ONLY provide my two main requested services IF I PAID EXTRA FOR THEM OUT OF MY OWN POCKET! Not at all what I signed up for. If I had been told that originally I would not have availed myself of this company’s services. I’ve since been told that it is the VA’s fault these services are not provided. Yet every reason given for the removal of these services should not trump the original plan benefits which I requested. Within the next month or so, I will no longer have this company as my home care provider. M. Gary

We have nurses from FirstLight Home Care Emerald Coast Pensacola around the clock to take care of my husband. We're very happy with them. They care for him when I have to go out of the house, and they provide non-medical services like bathing and feeding. We have them for six hours a day. I'm satisfied with them, and the aides are professional.
