My dad is now at Willowick Assisted Living of Janesville. What I like most is the staff-to-resident ratio. The owners of the community are very hands-on with everybody that's involved there. It is very warm and welcoming. It's very much like walking into a home. Everything is in good repair. Everybody there is very friendly, very warm, and very welcoming, and they answer your questions. Their food is prepared by a chef. There's a good variety that they offer. They have fruits and vegetables sitting out on the counter that are available to residents throughout the day. They also have sandwiches. If a resident wants a snack or something like that, they have those available for them as well. They have a salon, an exercise room, a small general store, an offsite chapel, and they offer spa services, too.

I visited this facility and I was initially impressed by the smell and the appearance. There is a courtyard in the center which provides a lot of natural light throughout the many living areas they have inside. After talking with a number of the staff, my initial feeling is that they truly care about their residents.

Our experience has been horrible. Unless you are there hounding the staff multiple times a week they do not clean or properly care for the resident. Rooms are frequently left uncleaned, clothes not laundered and beds unmade. Unqualified individuals are placed in charge and do nothing to manage the staff. We would move if possible to a more competently managed facility.

I visited Willowick Assisted Living. I met with one of the owners who is also the director, and it's a place I was considering. It was new, clean, and the layout was a square, so none of the rooms were far from the dining room or the gathering places. The price was a tad high, but fairly reasonable, and everybody looked like they were enjoying themselves. The meals looked pretty good.
