Our House Senior Living - Janesville Assisted Care

We toured Our House Senior Living -Janesville Assisted Care. It was a nice facility. I just don't think that it would have been a place where my dad would have been happy at. One of the things that we kind of had there (and probably the biggest reason why we ruled it out) is they did not offer any off-grounds activities. The physical appearance of it was fine. It looked to be in good repair. It was clean. The staff was friendly. They do not have a chapel, but they offer activities, they have a couple of seating areas. Compared to the other facility, it felt like an institution, but it was kept up and it was clean.

The general appearance and the layout of Our House Senior Living - Janesville were fine. However, when my sister and I arrived at the facility, the director wasn't there, and there was no staff available to take us on a tour. They seemed a little bit surprised and disorganized, but everything looked fine and clean. There was a common area with a television.

My mother is in Our House Senior Living. I like that it's smaller and didn't have as many residents, but it's close to all the relatives. The staff members seem to be pretty good and know what they're doing. They have worked there for many years and seem to have everything under control. The food that I've eaten was always good and she likes the food. The facility is in really nice shape.

I visited Our House Senior Living. It was a very nice place, very friendly, and it seemed like a very nice tour. It was very homey, they had an activity board, and they bring people to do things. They were very friendly, they were definitely interested in what they were doing, and they were not just there for the job. They do not provide rides, and I was a little concerned that it smelled like urine. We visited one room and you could smell the urine in the carpet.

Janesville was very clean and neat but more expensive. I don’t remember them having 24-hour the medical care available and it was not that welcoming. You could hear a lot of traffic since it was in a business area, which wasn’t desirable for my purposes. The dining area was very clean and neat, and the grounds were well kept.

We visited Janesville Assisted Care (Our House), but it was assisted living, not a memory care. It was beautiful and nice. They just didn't have the memory care, and we decided that we wanted to go with the memory care instead of having to move dad again, because he has Alzheimer's. The staff was all very friendly. The rooms were slightly bigger than the one dad's in now. Overall, my feeling about it was very good. If he didn't have Alzheimer's and just needed a little bit of help, we probably would have chosen this place.
