I am a friend or relative of resident

I have been associated with Federal Way Quality Care since February, 2011 as my mother became a patient at that time. I was worried about her being happy there but to my surprise she settled right in and made friends and really cared that Rosie, Baby, Lulu and Kilcha were making sure she was comfortable. I never had to worry about Mom which was a blessing because I was dealing with my Dad who had terminal lung cancer. My mother passed Jan 31, 2012 peacefully at this facility. Prior to that, she was in and out of the hospital and a rehab facility and all she asked about was when she could go back home (to Federal Way Quality Care). I have continued to visit the patients every Monday and have never seen any incidence of mistreatment or neglect of a patient. I observed Paul becoming more withdrawn and more difficult to handle. I give a high rating for this facility and have recommended it to several friends. The caregivers are always cheerful and welcoming.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My brother has been in the Federal Way Quality Care AFH facility since they opened. He has had excellent care and until recently, when his Alzheimer’s restricted him to bed, he would participate at the dining room table with the other residents enjoying the well balanced, nutritional, home cooked meals. Now the staff meticulously purees his meals and patiently feeds him. Although his situation is conducive to bed sores, his skin integrity is above reproach. They provide superb care to prevent bed sores. Our family visits are unannounced and we always find the facility immaculate. The staff is always cheerful, ready to please, and very caring with the residents. They are always looking out for their safety and well being. When our mother needed care two years ago, we also placed her in this facility where she was treated with dignity and respect, and received excellent care. Our family is very pleased with the facility, the staff and owner, and highly recommend it to anyone that has a family member in need of this special care.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband has been a resident of this Facility since October 2012, and I feel I must respond to a Review written by Pam on May 01, 2013. I was well acquainted with Pam's Dad during the time he was a resident at this Facility. I have visited my husband on an almost daily basis since he came here, as have most of our children. I am absolutely astounded after reading Pam's Review! The first person I met, besides the Staff, was Pam's Mother. She gave me a glowing description of the Home and the caring Staff. She said to me "You could not have found a better place for your husband"! I found her statement to be very comforting and as time went by very true. She was extremely happy about the care that Paul was receiving but was concerned as his behavior was escalating. Paul was becoming more agitated and was becoming almost semi-violent. Both my husband and myself noticed the gradual change in his behavior, and have seen Paul hit the Staff several times. The hard part was his apparent inability to use the toilet properly. One time myself and my daughter saw Paul take down his pants and try to defecate on the carpet in the Music Room, while we were visiting my husband. Staff tried diligently to take proper care of him, but he refused to let them do anything to clean him up. Paul's wife told me herself one time that she had to come in and shower him as Paul would not let Staff do it. It is very sad that Pam does not realize how hard Staff worked to try to keep him clean, but it was an impossible task because his escalating belligerent behavior. My husband is partially incontinent. He wears Depends but often has accidents with his bowels and urine. He is immediately taken into the shower and cleaned up. My husband is verbal and is able to tell me how good his care is. I am also able to observe much of his care as I am there so often. As for privacy, if there is something my husband and I want to discuss privately, we simply talk in his bedroom instead of out in the Music Room where Staff is passing through to different rooms. I also have to say how pleased I am with the effort Staff puts into making sure the Residents have fresh, nutritional, healthy food at each meal and snacks. Fresh fruit and vegetables etc. I would highly recommend this Facility to any family looking for excellent care for their loved one.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I am the daughter of a resident that has lived at Federal Way Quality Care for the past 3 years. When my mother went to live at the home, we were not sure how she would adjust because she had always lived with family only. After just a few visits it became apparent that these women take care of their residents as if they were indeed their family members. They also have made me and my 10 yr. old son feel like a part of the family as well. Now when we go to visit "Nana" my son says we're going to see all of his "grandma's". I truly feel blessed to have these special people taking care of my Mom on a daily basis. I know that they treat her like they would treat their own mothers and for that I will always be grateful to them. These "angels" are what every concerned family member would wish for their loved one to have in their life. We were so fortunate to have found this "special home"!

    I am/was a resident of this facility

The place was clean, but there were communication issues because of a language barrier. The idea that they were going to care for Dad, bathe him, and do all these things eventually became where Mom had to go in there to give him showers, shave him, and dress him up. He started having sores at his bottom because he wasn't changed. A lot of the issues about the changing were maybe because Dad didn't want them to do so. They were all women and he wouldn't let them shower him. He escaped twice and at one time, he was about a mile away from the home when they found him. At another time when my sister went to visit, she found him out on the front yard, so she brought him back inside and they didn't even know he was gone. The lady who runs the place never did do anything wrong; it was always Mom who was wrong. We had to ask about things and stuff like that because communication wasn't really forthcoming. Dad was never alone when we visited. There was always one of the workers with us, so he didn't want to say anything while they were around. I wouldn't recommend that place to anybody.
