"I visited Woodland Village. They were great. They were updated. Everything was really clean. They had activities going on while I was there. The dining room was beautiful. I didn't taste their food, but they told me how it was and everything. It all looked good. I only dealt with one person, and he was great. They've got a friendly environment, and it looks like they have lots of activities."

"I visited Olympics West Retirement Inn. They were all very, very friendly and knowledgeable about the care. The studio was small. The regular room was almost like a hotel room, but it was nice. The upkeep was very good. It's an older building, but the interior looked great. The grounds were well developed and kept well. That was a very, very nice tour. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They invited me for lunch. It was tasty, but it had very small portions. They have a grand piano in their social room. It was a wonderful, beautiful place. It was like you were in a very luxurious home."

"My father moved into The Hampton Memory Care. We chose it because of the price. We like the staff. They are amazing. The place is clean. It doesn't have any bad smells. They take very good care of the residents. They've been awesome at getting my dad's meds leveled out. When Dad went in, he wasn't very coherent. He's now talking where we can understand him. He's eating well. They're just taking very good care of him. My dad's not a picky eater, so he's eating everything they're putting in front of him."

"The residents at Bonaventure of Lacey were all happy. They greeted me and they said hello. They kind of laughed and chuckled amongst themselves. It was just a wonderful experience. I just said, "Well I think this is going to be the place, even if it is expensive." They greeted me immediately and they were all very helpful. We didn't have to stand out in the lobby. They took me to a private office and then we discussed everything. They gave me the tour and then when I made my decision a few days later and went back, the same thing, we discussed it in a private office again, not out in the lobby. They were just very considerate. They seem to understand how devastating this decision was. They were considerate. They informed me that my husband would have a choice in some of the meals, which is important, to help him make decisions, and the other part was that he can have his cat as long as I clean the litter box. The facility was squeaky clean and comfortable. They have activities. They have quiet rooms where you can go sit with family, not out in the big general area. I was just very impressed with the memory care."

"I toured Woodland by Bonventure. I like the location which is closest to me. It was a nice tour. The place was clean. Lisa showed me the first apartment on the way so it could be decorated, and I like that. Then she showed me a studio. We went in and she explained everything to me. She showed me three rooms and I had three rooms to choose from. She was letting me know what if I was to call hospice, what kind of questions to ask, and to see what they offered. She was very friendly. It was a nice experience. They had a library, a theater, and they had a craft room. They have two separate dining rooms. They have a place where you can go outside if you want to eat or just relax. They had a laundry room and they had a little area where people were doing puzzles."

"Fieldstone Memory Care of Olympia is beautiful, new, and well kept. It looked like they had a lot of programs, but the place was bigger and they didn't have any availability anyway. The living spaces in the memory care were really nice and very well laid out. They have it laid out like there's a little street inside. It was really well done. They have a movie theater, a beauty shop, and everything where they don't need to leave the building, which I understand is important for memory care. The lady that did the tour was very good."

"Everybody at Capital Place was very, very friendly, even the help who was walking around. They have help that comes and cleans rooms and things like that. Everybody was very thoughtful and friendly. The staff during the tour was pretty informative. The food was excellent. It was a St. Patrick's Day dinner. The rooms were a little small, but they were comfortable. For its age, it's excellent because it's been there for many years. Their little sitting rooms were pretty nice. They have fruits sitting around, and they have little refrigerators that have cold water and stuff in them. They're very comfortable."

"My sister and I toured Fieldstone Cooper Point, and it was very nice. Ideally, if we were able to go there, that's where we would want my father to go. It was very clean. There were lots of different activities for the residents to do. The staff was very friendly and very nice. For folks wanting to live in assisted living, it seemed to provide them with a good balance of independence and assistance as needed. The person at the front desk assisted us. She was in the reception area. She was very nice and very friendly. We didn't have an appointment for the tour, but she let us go ahead and walk around in the main areas and get a good sense of it. The facilities were very clean and very well appointed, and the layout was very nice."

"Brookdale Olympia West was very nice and geared only to Alzheimers. I think their focus was really on the care of the residents. According to the way I was interviewed and talked with the man, it seemed like they were very focused on interacting with the family as well. It was clean and new. There were lots of attractive areas that would feel homey."

"My father moved to Prestige Senior Living Rosemont. We chose it because they had immediate availability and they were close. It's only like a 20-minute drive for me. So, the main reason was the location and that they had the social programs and stuff that we needed. My father is in a studio, so it's just one room and then a bathroom. He seems to like the food. I've been there when he eats and it looks good. It's a good variety. They have a lovely outside area, like a little back patio where they play some different little games like lawn bowling. They have a huge dining room. They have a lobby with the TV and stuff and then they have a little activities room where they play games or shuffleboard, and there's some games up on the second floor. The staff is very friendly and very professional. It's a fairly new facility, so everything is in good shape."

"I will be moving into The Firs. I can be independent, but I can also change if I need to. We can hire somebody to come in, and they have nurses available. The staff was so friendly, and even the people that lived there were happy. They would tell us, "I like living here," and that makes a lot of difference. We chose The Firs over the other place because of the room. I've got a quilting machine that's 12 feet long and the room at the other place wasn't gonna be big enough for what I needed. The common areas were really nice and very well maintained."

"Brookdale Olympia East was the nicest facility. Everything was updated, and it was clean. The people were very friendly. Jordan, the gentleman that gave us the tour and took us through everything was really good. He was very friendly and he wasn't trying to force anything. He was just a nice guy and we enjoyed our time with him. Theirs was probably the best rate of the other 3 properties that we saw. They invited us there for lunch, and the food was good. The choices were good. Their restaurant was open from 7 AM to 7 PM. Everything was on the menu during the whole day. The only problem I had was that there was only one elevator for all the floors, and the elevator was a little small."

"I toured Revel Lacey, and one thing I liked about it was it's a newer building. It's only about 6 years old. I like their meal hours. Their meal hours are 7 in the morning till 7 at night, so you're not locked into a set time to eat. They've got two different restaurant facilities. One is kind of like a bistro and one's more formal. So, if you want breakfast at 10:00 in the morning you're not locked in, and what other places are doing is 8, 12, and 5. You've got all day to get your meals. I had clam chowder, and it was very good. What they do is give you like 520 points a month for food. Their menus are served with a point factor when you order. The clam chowder was five points, and then other things were 5 or 10 points, depending on what you wanted. It's like using dollars except for points. They were very nice. They showed me a studio apartment that fits my queen sized bed, and it's got a wall partition to separate from the living room. It opens into the kitchen area, but you can put a curtain over it and make it more private. Each unit has its own washer and dryer, so you don't have to go down and use a community washer and dryer. The facility was very clean."

"My sister is in South Creek Post Acute in Centralia. She's in rehab and is very well taken care of. Everybody that I've met there is personable, informative, and helpful. I've been there maybe five times and in different offices, and it seems like they just moved in. There are moving boxes everywhere so I think it needs to be organized better, as far as putting the items away. There was one employee, I don't know if she was rather new, but in giving me information about long-term Medicaid which I would need for my sister, she didn't give me enough information. Just this week, I talked with the actual business office person, and she was a wealth of information. So I kind of think the younger one, who is a social worker, is new in her position. She's probably good at being a social worker, but the business employee was much more informative. I have not tried their food but I have asked my sister about it and she said it's like homemade. The staff has to motivate her to try some of the activities. She has told me about trying a few of them that she enjoyed and would be going back to do again. There are fitness activities where they're sitting and the residents are in a circle and kicking a ball. She enjoyed them. She was encouraged to go to bingo too, and she did. I have not experienced them, though, and I think she hasn't experienced enough of them."

"My father lives at Colonial Residence. He is very happy with the entire staff. He has never had a complaint about the food. He even raves about it. I like the gated security. The one complaint that he has & I have, is that he cannot watch a lot of sports. They do not get ESPN or PAC12 channels. Can't watch the Cougs today, on ESPN. U of W will be playing Alabama Saturday, on ESPN, to see who plays the National Championship game & he cannot watch it. Some Seahawk games he can't see. Also, no golf channel. This is ridiculous. Most of these residents lives revolve around watching television. Give them some more to watch, than basic cable."

"The Stillwaters Estates Retirement Community in Centralia was very nice. It's gated, and the people were nice. It looks like a good fit for my mom because she's very social and they have a lot of stuff going on in their clubhouse. They have potlucks once a month and they always have something going on. During my visit, I talked to a couple who were walking around. They'd been there for about 3 years and said they loved it. That's the type of setting I wanted for my mom. The staff was great too. They were all nice and helpful."

"At the moment, my mother is still in Sharon Care Center. She has now been moved into a room with a second person. The problem that we're having is she's not using the toilet at all. She has to be lifted in and out of bed with the Hoyer and put into her electric wheelchair. Then she can get on about her day, but she's not changing herself or anything. It is a place that we had looked at before, and it's close to my brother who is in Centralia. We had originally got a room for her there. She was going to be living in assisted living upstairs, but she ended up with a kidney infection and had to go to the hospital. She was in there for a while. When she got out, she wasn't able to stand or anything. She just wasn't doing anything. She's been in therapy for the last hundred days, but she hasn't gotten to the point where she can live on her own. She can't afford to stay there when her insurance runs out. She makes about $8,000 a month, but it's about $300 and something dollars a day, which puts her at like over $9,000 a month. We have to find somewhere for her that we can afford. It's a great place. The people there are wonderful. It's just my mom hasn't met their requirements to stay. She has to be physically able to stand, pivot, and transfer herself. She's not doing any of that. She was in therapy at the nursing home. They have assisted living upstairs, but now she's at the point where she can't even be in assisted living because she's wearing a diaper. She is not trying to transfer to the toilet or anything. She is just content with having somebody take care of her, so it's frustrating. They've been really patient with her. She is thrilled with the food. She loves it. They have games, bingo, and crafts. She goes down to their activity room. She plays card games and different games with other people down there. There are lots of things for her to do. She is rarely in her room. They have a pop machine outside that she goes to and gets her own pop. They have therapy there. They are pretty set up. There was one thing that we were upset about. On Halloween, they had probably over 200 kids come through that nursing home trick or treating. They brought school buses full of kids. I understand why they did it. They did it so the people to see all these little kids, but a nursing home is not the best place to take them. Kids are full of bacteria. I think that was a really bad idea of them parading over 200 kids through the nursing home right after COVID just happened. That was the only negative thing I had to say about them. I'm not worried about getting sick, but those people are really frail. I just don't think that was the best idea to have little kids go parading through there, although my mom loved it. She had a great time."

"I like the spaciousness of the great room area at Oakwood Haven. What I really like the most is there are two people on staff during the day every day and that really meant a lot to me. The dining area is very nice and it looked like they had a very nice, healthy, hand-made meal. The interaction between patients and staff seemed very good. Another thing I really liked about it that was different from any other homes I visited was their restroom facilities' shower didn't have any kind of ridge or edge that the patients would have to get out of their wheelchair and step over to get into the shower. They'd have assistance regardless but in this case they could actually wheel the wheelchair right into the shower which was very nice. The staff was very helpful."
