"We have several friends at Patriots Landing at the moment. They have activities that are open to the public and a lot of things that we occasionally go to, like a big fireworks display on the 4th of July. We've had meals there with friends. I've gone to visit some people in a studio apartment and another woman has her own separate bedroom. I'm aware that there are different types of places that you can rent. We have a friend in the villas, which is a really cute place. She has a little bedroom, a kitchenette, a little dining area, and a living room. The washing machine and dryer are right down the hall. The only criticism I've heard about them is they have a lot of retired military, mostly widows. So, it tends to be a bit cliquey. The new people who come find it a little bit hard to get integrated because everybody has their own little circle. I guess they're not as open if you're non-military than if your spouse was military or if you are military. Other than that, I see their van around in different places where they take them shopping and out for activities. They're very active. In fact, one of the women at church worked in their restaurant and is now working in their activity center. We have a couple who live in a house and have to cross the street for meals. One of our friends upstairs is in the independent part, and she gets around and gets her nails done. They have different areas depending on what your circumstances are. The food is wonderful, like being in a 5-star restaurant. It's quite lovely. The staff I've seen have been very nice. It's kept very nice. The lady who called me made sure that I would have sufficient funds. She put my mind at ease that we could afford it."

"Just established my father in law here about a month ago and we are very pleased with everything about it. The staff is wonderful and so caring, I personally think the communication between family and staff is very good, they always answer all of our questions. My father in law says the food is about average and it seems very clean everywhere. They have many activities scheduled with weekly outings to stores, doctor visits, scenic drives and this week they are going to North West Trek. They seem to keep all of the residents active with the inside activities like singing, dancing, painting, puzzles, happy hour every Friday. He seems to be enjoying it very much as he is very social. "

"Bridgeport Place is very clean and the facilities are nice. They serve all three meals and they take my wife to her doctor's appointments. They also have a massage and exercise room, as well as individual rooms. The dining room is large. They have outings to go shopping once a week as well."

"Mom lives in Woodland Village. We chose it because I just like the facility and the people. They've been friendly and helpful. The food is fine. They got a salon, and other stuff like rec rooms and gathering rooms. There's urgent care nearby. There's a dentist's office, restaurants, stores, and stuff that were within five miles."

"I toured Aspire Care Adult Family Home. I like the idea that there's a person there to resolve issues as opposed to a waiting list. They have a good ratio. It's a family neighborhood. It's not a huge building. It's just a single-family home. They have wheelchair-size doorways that can handle wheelchairs and wheelchair-accessible showers. I looked at their menu. It seemed OK."

"Brookdale Allenmore was very clean, and they had a number of activities. We visited right after lunch, and so maybe that wasn't the best time because we really didn't see any people out and about. The staff told me that they had a lot of activities going on. I liked that they had small porches in some of the rooms, so you could go outside just from your room. That would be really important to my mom because she loves to go outside. She can just have her own private little place. She could just step out at any time and just get a breath of fresh air. I really, really like that a lot. The bedroom was a good size. It was clean and brightly lit. I like that outside, they had places to walk and places to sit. It was very pretty with lots of flowers. They were very friendly, and it looked like it was safe to walk outside, sit, and enjoy the fresh air and beauty. The staff I met up with was very friendly and answered all my questions."

"We toured Sound Vista Village. That one was really pretty and surrounded by trees. However, since my brother has stage 4 cancer, and so we don't know how long he's going to last, we needed a place that easily goes through different levels of care, and I don't feel that Sound Vista Village had enough staff or anything set up for my brother. It was a beautiful place, but they seemed to have only one kind of nurse on hand who seemed a little bit overworked if someone required a higher level of care. They had a beautiful courtyard and gardens where people could garden. They had just put up an outside covered area that would be nice. It was a beautiful facility; it was just the level of care that we were concerned with there. It's in an area where it's not too far from grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping and all kinds of things, so that would be a bonus over the other place. "

"Spring Ridge is close to where we live. It was nice, clean and it smelled good. The people were very nice. They showed me the rooms and answered all of my questions. They have a beauty parlor and an activity room. We went into one of the resident's rooms to see how she had it set up. She was very accomodating and said she liked it there. It seemed to me that the residents there are satisfied and content. "
