I liked Cedar Ranch at Westover Hills. It was nice and it's got an open layout. The residents are allowed to walk around. They're not confined to their rooms. The rooms were good. They were big, but they were shared. The only thing I didn't like was that there was no separation in the room. It's just one room, so there would be no privacy. The staff was very nice, helpful, and informative. They have cafeteria-style dining and it was nice, as well as a little workout area. They were highly priced though.

Cedar Ranch at Westover Hills was a nice place, and the help was nice. I just didn't think it was suited for my husband because it's memory care. It's a big building with little rooms for them. They have activities and stuff that I didn't think he was to the point where he needed total memory care. The person who assisted me was super nice. I watched the people and they were kind of lost, and he's not there yet. When he progresses to the point where he doesn't know what's going on at all, then that would be a great place. The rooms were very small. You have a room for privacy to sleep, but they didn't have anything, a little refrigerator or anything like that. It was just a room. They're locked in. The lady that interviewed me was nice. It's just I don't think that's the place for my husband at this point. I only met a couple of the staff and they seemed professional and nice.

I had an in-person tour of Cedar Ranch at Westover Hills. I like that their community is small. I also liked the way the building was designed. The residents have quite of activities that they can do within the grounds. I also like that it's only a memory care unit. It's not an assisted living unit, so most of their patients are dealing with Alzheimer's. Their facility is set up for that. The building is one building and not several buildings joined together. They did have the activities room. I think they were going to start bingo when I went there. They have separate rooms for different things. So they had a quiet room or relaxation room, a hands-on activity room, and then a gathering room. I felt that my mom would be very safe there. There is a locking door, so basically, it's one way in and one way out of the residency of where you can enter and exit. They have other emergency doors that are always locked and monitored. Everyone has to enter through the main door, check for COVID, go through the COVID protocols, and then lock. It is an inviting experience when you walk in. Things looked very clean and very well maintained. The grounds looked well maintained. The staff showed me all three different rooms that they have over there. They were all newly remodeled and renovated rooms. The residents seemed happy at that facility.

My wife is in Cedar Ranch at Westover Hills. She's isolated in a locked room. She does not see anyone except every other hour, they check on her. It's dark, there's no sound, there's no light, and there's pure isolation. The care she is getting from hospice is minimal from what I can see. From what I'm paying for Cedar Ranch, I don't think I'm getting my money's worth. They said she has to be on seven days isolation because of the virus, but totally in the dark and a quiet room and when you're sick and you can't move, and you open your eyes and it's dark in there, that would be a psychological risk. I would suggest slow soft music and at least one light somewhere. The place looked nice and very clean. She's bedridden, so I've not seen any activities. The place is virtually locked down. I haven't seen any patients in there. When my mom got there, the nursing staff did not inform me that she did not have any meds. I tried to reach them by phone on the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and nobody answered the phone. On Monday morning, they gave me a call and asked me if I'm gonna bring the meds over, so I brought the meds to them. On Tuesday morning, they gave me a call and said my wife turned for the worst and had to be readmitted into the hospital because her blood pressure was up. They did not call me and asked for the medicines. Over the weekend, I couldn't reach them on the phone, so she did without meds for two days and that made her blood pressure go up and be hospitalized for seven days to get her blood pressure regulated again.
