The Best Memory Care Communities in Nueces County, TX

"We chose Brookdale Trinity Towers for my mom. The apartments are so beautiful. They all have kitchens and terraces. Mom's apartment has windows across with a view of the Gulf of Mexico. She gets sunrises and sunsets, water views, and it's really very beautiful and spacious. The staff is excellent. They are really good. The food quality fluctuates, though. It used to be much better. There's also not a lot of places to walk around. There are no walking trails, which is kind of a downside. The rates recently increased but it's still so low compared to other places. They have activities available. They have an exercise room, a beauty salon, a nail salon, but they are still looking for somebody to do the nails for the residents, which is important for my mom. They also have a place where you can buy a little bit of food. If the residents in independent living need extra help, they can be hired."

"My brother was placed in assisted living in Villa South Assisted Living & Memory Care, but after like three days he decided to walk home, and he did get out, so at that point, they've moved him to memory care. He's been in memory care for about a week now. So far, I'm happy with the communication between the community, after all, I'm in California, and they're in Texas. They've communicated with me on several different occasions regarding his progress, their plans for him, and what they're doing with him regarding his independence in the memory care unit. Because he has a very poor short-term memory, but his long-term memory and his ability to care for himself is good, he is sort of betwixt and between, and so they're trying to give him as much independence as possible, and they've been good at that. They've already allowed him and escorted him to the activities in the assisted care living group because he fits in better with that. I like the way they're trying to make him fit in up to his abilities, and they're very attentive to that. What they've told me about is that, in memory care, activities are mostly verbal, and he doesn’t need that, and so they're allowing him more active activities in assisted living. We were in Texas when we placed him, so I've been there on three occasions. The first thing I noticed was that all the staff seemed to know the people and spoke with them and interacted with them whenever they walked or anything. They knew the folks, they talked with them, and they interacted with them, and in a lot of places, people just stood by and supervised from afar. So, I like the fact that they interacted with the folks and genuinely seemed to care about their progress and their comfort. They have all been great. The facility is older and so that reflects itself in some ways, but the rooms, especially the assisted living rooms, were nice. They're bright with a lot of space for the price. They have even ones that are like studio apartments, and I thought that was nice. The ones in the memory care are really very basic like a rectangle with the bathroom. It's good value compared to others."

"I toured Brookdale Corpus Christi. I liked the staff and the residents the best, and the least I liked was the layout of the rooms. They gave us many food choices and the quantity was perfect. They have lots of outings, lots of games, clubs, and a salon. They have everything for my mother. The dining room was fine. It was more like restaurant style, and it was very nice. They had a very nice courtyard. Everything was beautiful. The place was very nice and very clean."

"The Viera Senior Living was a beautiful place. They had very nice people. It's fairly convenient to our house on the South Side. The staff was very nice, very straightforward, and explained what rules they had to go by. It's very new and very pretty."

"Elan Corpus Christi has been very good and we're very pleased. My father's accommodations there are very nice. They have everything like a workout room with equipment, they have an art studio, pretty standard facilities that all of the other places have. The staff is very good and we're very pleased with the staff members as well. Their facilities were very clean and they have activities all day long if you wish to participate."

"My mom had lower back surgery last January and after that she went for rehab. They had a good facility and they performed her rehab well. They took care of her. They had good food and it was very good experience. "
