My MIL has been in assisted living at The Tradition - Woodway for a year. Previously was in Independent Living. There has been excessive management turnover that negatively impacts operations. As a result, family members have to be more hands-on to ensure things get done. Staff does not follow up on requests so it takes more family member time constantly hounding people to do their job. If you are expecting a carefree environment where staff handles issues that arise this is not the facility for your loved one.

The facility is beautiful. That’s where it stops. Mother was in memory care there for about a year before passing. The staff on the memory care is under staffed and under paid. Often times I had to clean the room and beg for her laundry to get done.( service that is supposed to be included). The manager of the floor was unqualified or untrained and couldn’t stay on top of things. The food was inappropriate for older people with dementia. I tried more than once to make suggestions to the person in charge of the food program and my emails were never answered. If I wasn’t there to order her food before for the next week, she would get a burnt grilled cheese for dinner! Way too expensive for what you get. I felt like I had to be there constantly to make sure that my mother was getting any care.

In Memory care, Management was always stressed. Caregivers put their own needs first. Caregivers were poorly trained and several had bad attitudes. The only thing going for it was the nice surroundings.

We went to The Tradition - Woodway this morning. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly, and seemed to know quite a bit about it. They have a swimming pool, a hair salon, a man's Cave with billiards, a golf simulator, a library, a workout room, and a craft room. We stopped at one of the informal snack areas. We saw the dining room. There was no food preparation going on at the time. It looked like a restaurant. The Tradition seems kind of sterile.
