Our experience was that the medical team (2 NPs and 1 doctor) is slow to act on diagnosing issues. It took 5 days after my mother started suddenly having delirium to do the first tests to see if there was a medical reason. Certain staff members did not follow orders for care. She missed numerous treatments because of it. We could not get any information from the NPs during this health crisis. Instead, we had to chase after nurses to find anything out and the information was limited. We met with the Director of Nurses about the trouble we were having. Nothing changed despite their promises. Even when a family member enacted her role as medical power of attorney, they still did not communicate. Instead, the medical team did whatever they wanted. My mom had an appointment offsite to see a specialist for the issue she was having. It took NHC a week to get the supplement that was suggested by the specialist that was supposed to help prevent further issues. Then, they stopped giving it two days later. No reasons were given to my mother or her medical POA. When my mother was ready for discharge no one sent out an order for her oxygen. Before we left that day, they promised they would send it so my mom could have oxygen by the next day. They did not follow through. We had to chase after them the next day to get the order sent to an oxygen company. The order was sent out around 4 pm on a Friday (24 hours after her discharge). We are now going on day three without it. We were also concerned that their records showed outdated orders several times when they looked up information on their computer. Our family feels certain that if we did not live in town, my mother would have died due to lengthy delays in treatment, poor communication with us, and each other. This facility itself is nice, they have a good physical and occupational therapy department, and some of the individual caregivers really care but if you want quality medical care, you should look elsewhere.

NHC Place at The Trace is the most excellent place I've ever seen, the absolute attention to detail of their staff, their organization, and the personal care given to every resident. The facility was pristine. It's sort of the gold standard. You just can't get better than the Place at The Trace. The location was peaceful, elegant, and accessible. The staff was the kindest, most helpful, and most attentive of all the places that I went to, above and beyond. I got the chance to dine at the place and their food was most excellent and their kitchen staff was incredibly attentive to the dietary needs of all the residents. There were always options for any dietary needs and that was very impressive. They had an excellent kitchen, just unbelievable.
