My wife is at Oaks at Charleston. They're very attentive. They're more people-oriented. Everybody down there is extremely nice. It's a very clean facility. They take pains to keep everything working. It's up to date. So far, I've been very pleased with them. The staff is excellent. Everybody knows their job. They're always trying to help. If you have any questions, they're right there. And if they can't answer the questions for you, they'll find an answer. The food looks good. I haven't had any of the food, but it looks good. The physical appearance of the place looks excellent. They do a good job of keeping it clean. And they do a good job of keeping the people clean. They're taking care of them. They have a lot of different kinds of activities. They play bingo, and they have some pets that stay there that they can interact with. To me, it's great. It's the cheapest one that I could find, but they do an excellent job. You get what you pay for, so it's really good. They have places where they can get their haircut. You can either bring your own hairstylist in or you can use the ones that they use. It's pet-friendly. They take them on outings, too.

We're pretty sure we're going to be able to get Mom in the Oaks at Charleston. It's super clean and well-furnished, and the people that I have dealt with so far are super nice and very helpful. It's an up-to-date, really nice facility. Everybody that I saw seemed to be happy.

Oaks at Charleston was a very nice facility, but I don't think that things are going to work out with them. I'm trying to find a situation where I can let my husband stay for the weekend in a facility. They had very pretty and clean-looking rooms. The price is very reasonable based on the setup. The dining hall seemed a little crowded and it was not easy to get somebody in the office right away. It seemed like the reception wasn't really quite as welcoming. They were nice people but I think that if they actually had somebody at a desk at the front, it would have impressed me more as opposed to having to go in and find somebody. I think the problem was I assumed that when I went there they already knew I was coming and they did not. They had no clue. They had not been given an email. They had no contact whatsoever. It was like I just came out of the blue off the street because they did not know I was going to be there. The people were so friendly and so nice. They were very responsive and very helpful. It was very clean overall. The structure of the building was a little bit aged, but it's in good condition overall and it's not in disrepair. It's just not very modern. it had a more rustic look. The layout was perfect. The rooms were very nice. I only saw the model, though. I can't speak for all the other rooms, but obviously, things happen when a person moves in. The model rooms looked gorgeous.

Oaks at Charleston is dreary. It seemed dirty to me. It's not clean. It's just dim lighting. It's very outdated, too. I like the staff. The staff members were good. The lady who gave me the tour was very nice. They were very outgoing. They told me that they had a chef and that all the people loved the food there. The facility is just horrible and dreary. They need to clean. They need to put some color in the place. Everything was brown and beige. They need lighting, and they need to clean the outside of the building, too. The windows are dirty. Old people want to look outside, but the windows are filthy on the outside. The staff was great, but the building was horrible.

I toured Oaks at Charleston. I had a scheduled appointment, and I think they wanted to cancel it, and they asked me how early could I arrive. I had to leave work about an hour early to make the appointment. And so, fortunately, instead of taking me an hour, it took me about 45 minutes. One of the folks that lived there came out of the front door of the facility, without an attendant, and opened the door, and asked me if I wanted to come in. And so that was the first red flag. I was like, this is not good. I was not able to visit the actual unit or building with the unit where they provide memory care. I wasn't able to do a full tour. I was walked into a room, and that is basically where the tour took place. Other than that, the person that met me, literally talked to me outside, sitting in a rocking chair. So it was just not a very open experience. It wasn't a full tour of the facility. And, as such, it's kind of hard for me to rate them any higher in terms of the overall experience with the staff only interacting with one person and feeling like I was being handled, not allowed to see the facility as a whole. I didn't get to see the dining area. I didn't get to see other areas or any type of entertainment area. I was walking in the building, we made a right turn, and I was taken into an empty room, but that was not the building for memory care. That was a building for assisted living. It was very easy for me to decide that was not a place that I would allow my sister to stay. I just didn't feel like the facility itself was secure. I could have walked into the building and been immediately with the patients, while I was just waiting to be greeted.

Oaks at Charleston is a nice place. Food's good. It's clean. It's a much older place but they had some nice one-bedrooms.

My husband is now at Oaks at Charleston. So far, it's been great. It's hard putting him in there, but under the circumstances, they treat him well. The staff is wonderful. Most of them have been there for years. Everyone is helpful. They know you when you come in and they say how are you doing? That's the biggest thing. They make sure my husband is comfortable. The condition of the place is okay; I haven't found any problems. I haven't tasted the food, but my husband can't wait to get out of the room to go eat, so it must be good. For activities, they had everyone gathered around in a circle. They had buckets and they were throwing balls in the bucket. It looked like they were having fun.

We saw Oaks at Charleston. It wasn't as nice as the other place. It was very mediocre. They had a nice cafeteria, but we didn't get to try the food. They didn't have a gym, but they did have a therapy room. They didn't have a courtyard either. It was way smaller than the other place, but everybody was okay. The room was nice but was not fancy. They had a microwave and a little seating area. In terms of activities, at that time, they had an ice cream social. It wasn't as big, and it didn't have many things like the other place. The staff was pretty nice. They seemed like really involved with the elderly. Everybody was like taking part in the ice cream social and being respectful. The elderly seemed relaxed being there. The staff who showed us around was nice and she was very respectful but she had us waiting a while. We were there for probably like 20 minutes waiting for her to come out. They seemed okay, but they weren't as polite or outgoing.

Oaks at Charleston had excellent facilities. They had activities going on while we were there. It looked like they were playing games or something in one of the gathering rooms. They may have been the best of the three places I visited. They just seemed to have a little more energetic atmosphere. The staff was excellent. There seemed to be a lot of activity going on in and around the facility. The rooms were larger and seemed to be quite well laid out and very nice. The one room they showed us was under renovation. One of the rooms had a nice little portico on it looking into a courtyard. They had a good dining area. It was the largest of the dining areas because it was a little larger facility. The place was very clean and very well kept.

I am a healthcare administrator and my 95 yo Aunt was in need of care. Members of the staff met me in the emergency room, assessed her and she was admitted to a sparkling clean room during a pandemic. The staff is polite and courteous. The facility is clean and I feel she is safe. Crazy number of activities so never get bored. The kitchen prepares excellent meals, honestly my Aunt hasn't eaten this well in a very long time. I recommend this facility wholeheartedly as I have no worries about her care.

Overall, the facility of Oaks at Charleston was nice. The staff was great and the rooms were nice. Just the overall feeling of the location was nice. I saw the assisted living and they also have a memory care unit. I did not try their food but I could smell them cooking and it smelled good. The lady staff, Mara, was very informative, kind, and just nice.

We liked the Oaks at Charleston. We liked their programs, their setup, and everybody seemed nice and friendly. We toured both the assisted living and memory care, and it was clean. The lady answered all of our questions, was very pleasant, and professional. She got back to us immediately when we had a question. So, she went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They also had activities for the residents. So, everything seemed nice.

The staff here is extremely nice and caring. My mother participates in many of the planned activities they have for the residents. Her room is nice and cozy. While the facility is probably an older one, it is clean and comfortable. We are pleased with the care my mother is receiving.

It would be a place that I would consider for my mom if she needed that level of care. The rooms were nice. I was invited into a room a resident was occupying and it was fixed very nicely. The dining area appeared fine and adequate. They had a full activity schedule and somebody on-site doing hair that day. The community was a little spread out, so there was a lot of walking. It’s on a single level, but they have different buildings because they have a memory care unit and assisted living.

We’ve been over there an it was nice. It just seemed to have an awful lot of people to treat, and I wasn’t sure that they had enough people to handle all of them. I think they had a really nice restaurant, but it was really crowded. They showed me a room, but there was nothing in it. From what I understand, you had to bring your own bed, dresser, and stuff like that.

It was very nice, clean, and has good friendly people, but it was very large, a big community. It had a lot more people. They have a lot of activities, but they have small twin beds. The staff was great, accommodating, informative, gave a nice tour, and very friendly. The people looked like they were taken care of.

It was very nice and very clean. They told me about their activities, the area, and their services. They were very thorough. The staff seemed to be knowledgeable and very understanding. I was very impressed. I was able to see both areas of assisted living and the more critical area and I could not remember what they called it. It was put together very nicely, and I asked the questions to some of the nurses there who took time to answer them. The rooms seemed very nice and very clean.

I wasn’t as impressed as I was with the other facilities. It’s a nice place but it’s not what I was looking for. The staff was very helpful. It didn’t feel like a home.

It was very nice. It didn't look like a hospital but more like some place to live. It didn't seem like a place where people went to die; it seemed like they were there to live.

I visited this week. I felt like I was at home. I was introduced to some of the staff and feel like they would welcome my mom as their family. When we need to do this we will call Karen and ask her to put mom on the waiting list

It was nice. My mother had an amnesia situation and she did not have her sight, and because of that, she was going to need the memory care. I didn't like the setup for memory care. Her room would have been too far away. The staff was wonderful. The rooms were nice. The food and the dining room were very nice. I'm sure there were a lot of activities in independent living. In the memory care, it didn't excite me at all. It seemed that the people were just sitting around. I didn't see anything that showed me that they had good, organized activities. The independent living looked nice. The memory care wasn't warm; it looked old.

They made my parents' move easier. They were caring and involved with the care. The place was not big but it was clean and fresh. So far, they were happy with the move for over a month now.
