"My sister will move into Stratford Place Assisted Living & Memory Care. The size of the room mattered to her, and so she would have a room large enough to function in. She will have her own small table so that she can do her puzzles in her room and things like that. She will also have a private bathroom. The amenities were a large dining room, so everything was spread out. The activities are kind of the same everywhere unless you're spending $6,000 a month. But in our price range, I think we're getting some good assistance. The people working there seemed attentive, caring, and personable."

"Summerville Estates was a beautiful facility. I had a meal there and it was lovely. It was Memorial Day and I think I had a barbecue. They were doing a cookout-themed type thing. They had a variety so you could choose. It was great. They had a beautiful garden area and the open areas were very nice. The staff were amazing."

"Overture West Ashley was beautiful. The staff members were excellent. The rooms were gorgeous, spacy, airy, and well-lit. The surroundings were very upscale and very attractive. They have a heated pool. They have physical activities, games, movie nights, and that sort of thing. It's a beautiful building in nice surroundings and adjacent to a shopping center."

"I'm at Overture Daniel Island. It's very nice, new, and well kept. They have different activities. They take you to different places around the community. They have music that they bring in sometimes at night. They have a game room and just normal things that you find in places like this. The staff was very friendly and very nice. They have a bicycle you could use, they have a game room, a swimming pool, a gym, and yoga classes. I make my own food, but you can order out if you want to. Their price is a little high."

"I have two friends that live at Bishop Gadsden. They are in the independent living. I went one time and played bridge there. It's more expensive than the other place. They have a wonderful dining room and all kinds of stations. It's like you're going to a restaurant or a buffet and serving yourself. That's really nice. I met the people serving and they are all very positive and very nice. Everybody is very friendly. The apartments are beautifully equipped. The residents can bring their own stuff if they want. At my friend's place they came in and cleaned the room. They would do her laundry if she wanted. She has a little kitchenette-type place in there, but she said she mostly went to the dining room. They have like two or three dining rooms, and they have one that is more upscale."

"We toured and it was very nice, clean, bright, and airy. Everybody seemed happy there. We liked it, and it is one of our two finalists. All the residents seemed well taken care of and happy. They pretty much had everything. We liked the fact that they had home care that came in. They also had physical and occupational therapy, a salon, and a gym."

"I'm on a waiting list for South Bay at Mount Pleasant. I was very impressed with the place, and I think it's five years old, and it's very, very clean. The girl I talked to knew exactly what she should have been telling me. I think she was from Penn State, a young lady. She was very knowledgeable, very nice. We were very impressed with her. The apartments are very nice, it's just a nice place. The apartments are up to like 1,900 square feet, which is huge, and you don't have to buy in, which is a big plus. They have everything there that you need. They have cards, painting lessons, exercise classes, and it was actually very close to an area which had restaurants and veterinarian care if you had an animal. We went to where lunch was being served, and it looked very good."

"Somerby of Mount Pleasant is a well-managed place. My mom is there and they always have the resident's best interests at heart. The rooms are small, but they're very clean and updated. The staff is excellent. They are caring, friendly, kind, and very nice. The food has not been very good, but it is improving, now that they hired a new chef. They have a gym room, a swimming pool, onsite physical therapy, some classes like chair yoga, and social activities like themed parties. Then they have daily activities like Rummikub and Bridge once a week (although you could play bridge every day if you find people). They have a rosary group and they also take you to church or grocery/stores if you need to. Someone will take you on a bus. If you need a ride and you ask way in advance, they are very nice about arranging that. The only problem is it's expensive and the price goes up every year."

"There are no words to express my appreciation for The Bridge. My mom was there for 8 months and the entire staff felt like family. They all went over and above to care for my mom. They showed sincere care and love for her. They also were so supportive of me when I was concerned about her. I will forever be grateful for the time my mom had at The Bridge. I could not care for her at home anymore, and I could not have found a better alternative to home."

"My father is a resident of Mount Pleasant Senior Living at Carolina Park. It's been really great, all the staff from the front desk to the managers, sales people, maintenance staff, and restaurant staff do a good job. They do a good job connecting with the family, and helping with the transition. They have a really family oriented community as far as the caregivers. The food is great. They do daily activities, skill building activities like puzzles, activities like milkshake mondays, things that get them involved with each other, as well as making them feel independent. They go on trips, they take them shopping, and to restaurants once in a while."
