I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is in Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. It's a nursing hospice. It's very clean. There's enough medical help that I can just walk out of the room and find somebody immediately. That's comforting to me. When I request something, they don't give me a hard time, and I haven't done much of that because everything's pretty good. They tell me exactly what they're going to do and what they've done, and I just feel comfortable with him being there. The staff has been very, very nice. The food is terrible. It's ice cold every time. I'm there for his dinner, so I'm sure breakfast and lunch is the same. I've experienced this in other nursing homes, and there's not a lot you can do about it with all the meals and the floors they have to give the food out. So, pureed mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes don't really go down too well, but it's nothing I'm going to complain about because I understand they do the best they can. I see the residents playing games in the little room. The ones that can will go around with their wheelchairs. They sit out with the staff and chat with the staff if they can. I see them outside. They have a nice little garden outside. It's not depressing. When you walk in, the lobby is gorgeous and you see some of the residents hanging down there and they get around. My dad has a nice large room. It's got another bed in it. It's got your nightstand and your bureau. I guess as time goes on, you can make it more homey. The rooms are clean, the sheets are clean, and he's clean because I know when they give him a bath. They do that every day that I've seen him.

My sister is at Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. They're very caring people. They take care of everybody. They keep a positive attitude towards other residents. The staff is very helpful and very informative. They answer all my questions. If I call, they call me back in a timely manner. I don't have any issues with any of the staff. I have not tried the food, but my sister has not had any complaints about it. They have activities. With regards to value for money, this is all through Medicaid.

Majestic Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is very caring and very professional. We haven't had any issues with them at all. I have no complaints. The staff is very patient, helpful, and understanding. The food is good. He gets to go outside and he enjoys that part of it, and that he gets to have visitors.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am traveling home after visiting my mom, who has been a resident of Majestic Oaks for over 10 years. Mom doesn’t want to be in a nursing home but it was the best choice for our family, when it became apparent that mom could not live and be safe on her own. Updates since my last review. There has been another executive administrative change at MO. This is roughly 4 to 5 administrative director changes since my mom began living at MO. Some department personnel , has remain unchanged and solidly staffed throughout the years. Kudos go out to the ever present Activities Staff who are always pleasant and attentive to all residents at MO. Trips to local places that residents find thrilling and fun are interspersed throughout the month. I am grateful for the activities that happen on the 2nd and 3rd floors on a daily basis. I am able to bring my dog to visit. He’s a big dog with all the necessary papers from the vet to allow him to visit and cheer up the residents. I was informed on this last visit that there is a wireless phone on the floor and that I can call and speak to my mom on a regular basis. The floor staff could not have been more welcoming this visit. All my requests were met with a smile and I was happy for that change of attitude. All in all, I had a great visit and look forward to seeing some more positive changes when I visit again. Thanks Majestic Oaks for all you do for my Mom.

My wife was a patient for over a month. My experience with Majestic Oaks was excellent. Highly skilled staff, outstanding service and very professional. They care for their residents as if each one was a member of their own family. I would highly recommend this facility to my family and friends!

The entire staff, from the administrator and director through nursing and social services are always ready to go out of their way to help you, or to solve your issue or problem, even it is not an area or function with which they are directly involved. Requests are handled quickly and with few mistakes. Although the facility is rather large and can appears dated, it has held up well and staff decorations, adornments and socially devised events, in which all residents may partake, absolutely transform the environment into a festive, welcoming atmosphere. 33 years ago, when this facility was newly built and just opened for useage, I rode on the local ambulance and picked up and transported many residents there to different medical appointments ... so that is how I can honestly say that the condition of the residence and structure has worn exceptionally well over time!

This place was perfect for my grandpa. It was selected due to proximity but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very gentle and enjoyed joking around with my family. Getting older and being ill is not fun but this Team helped us to make the most of a difficult situation. The rehab floor was exceptional and they helped us to adjust.

Establish relationships with medical staff, administrative staff, Physical Therapy staff. Also CNAs, LPNs, Housekeeping staff, Dining Room staff, Maintenance Staff, Laundry staff, Reception Desk staff. . All of them are involved with your loved one's care in some way. Don't be afraid to ask questions. People are generally glad to provide information. This is the third facility my husband has been in and it is the best. Staff is caring, interested, and involved with each resident. They want your loved one to have the best possible experience. The activities are wonderful here. I feel as though we are a team.

Worst facility out there. Nurses and staff could care less about the patients. Patients roam the building unsupervised and in constant danger of falling and walking out doors

My mother-in-law was at Majestic Oaks for a rehab stay, after she fractured her leg. The facility has an excellent Therapy Department and it was a pleasure to work with them, they were very professional and she looked forward to participating. The nursing staff and administration were pleasant and caring and go beyond to communicate with patients and family members. We were very pleased and highly recommend Majestic Oaks.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have had two family members at Majestic Oaks. My cousin was there for rehabilitation after a fall and returned home, and my sisters mother-in-law was there for several years until her passing two months ago. In both cases the staff was amazing. Very kind, friendly and professional. It was a clean, safe, family atmosphere with lots of fun activities.

I visited this facility

My mom came here because she couldn't live alone anymore. Her heart wasn't strong enough. But she still has a sense of humor and she still enjoys making friends and staying active. They will keep you busy here! There are plenty of activities. There's always something fun and interesting happening here! One time when I visited they were having, famous visiting musicians, and tons of parties. Everyone here is very generous and caring for one another. It's almost as if they are all a team. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They sacrifice a lot to make this facility run smoothly.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been a resident of Majestic Oaks for a good long time. It is my understanding this facility is a for profit home ( if I am wrong I hope some one corrects me) but has a large number of Medicare beds. Ownership of this facility has changed 3-4 times if it more, since my mom arrived at MO. As the years have past, I tend to be able to make the trip to PA 3-4 times a year. My visits with my mom are precious to me so I will spend 8-12 hours per visit in the facility. I eat my meals there, we sit outside if the weather permits, sit in the library and I will read a book to her after dinner we spend time in her room watch TV or whatever for me to try and experience what life is like at Majestic Oaks on a daily basis. My reflections lead me to the following conclusions: activities This staff is the most constant. There is little turnover and I see the same friendly faces year in and year out. The activities co-ordinator does a great job of finding activities to stimulate and entertain the residents who want to participate. I enjoy the people and look forward to participating in the activities myself when I am at MO Dining While at MO I eat each meal in the dining room. The dining staff always welcomes me and I find they do an immense job of getting the meals out in a timely fashion. They are understaffed and do the best with what they have to offer. In fact every Thankgiving my mom's Large family travels from far and wide to MO and the dining staff accommodate at least 15 family members. In the early years the meal was pretty awful but recently there has been a welcomed change to the meal. *Attention paid to residents by nursing staff : as best as can be expected when there is not enough staff to go around. When I visited this past October it was clear there were not enough attendants to care for residents. There were: Residents at the elevators waiting, residents in rooms waiting, residents in the hallway waiting, residents with alarms ringing and waiting, residents calling out in distress from rooms waiting. Waiting waiting, waiting. Clearly, understaffed in nursing and nursing aides And yet that meager staff was running ragged trying to accommodate residents. I met with a social worker on my last visit but she was new to staff and though friendly and attentive she was not aware of most issues regarding my mom, a long term resident, the Social worker who is familiar with my man m and get on going care was busy at the time and not able to meet with me. One of the new owners was present and even passed me in the hallway avoiding contact or any type of interaction with me. It felt odd. There's my review. I could go on about the number of times my mom has fallen recently but I will save that for a more official review. There are lovely people who reside at MO including my mom who are people who have lived full rich lives and deserve a home that is welcoming and warm. Health issues aside treating people with respect and dignity should be paramount. If MO is a for profit facility my wish and hope are some of those profits would go toward making a more livable facility for residents and staff alike.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father is a permanent resident at Majestic Oaks. We selected this facility once our resources were exhausted and could no longer care for him. It is in close proximity to our home, and the admissions office was accommodating. Some of the nursing and administrative staff try to be helpful, but they are understaffed and underpaid, with high employee turnover. The aides are not properly supervised, and we've experienced issues with theft and neglect. We've encountered problems having scripts filled, and illness spread rampant on the floor, due to improper hand-washing or sanitizing by the aides. The building is very old and poorly designed. They claim to be in the process of renovating, but much attention is needed. The elevator is a disaster, and an obvious fire hazard. There are simply too many residents and staff, and the stairs are locked and inaccessible. They try to plan activities for the residents, but its quite difficult to navigate the building to get up and down. The elevator is blocked for meals (which are horrendous), and residents are jammed waiting to to use the elevator get back and forth to the dining area. There is inadequate parking and a lack of privacy for visiting families. This facility isn't the worst I've seen, but we are actively looking for another nursing care provider that better meets our needs.

My husband was in Majestic Oaks for a month. It’s a government facility that accepts people who don’t have financial assistance. His accommodations were okay, but he didn’t want to stay in the room because he was always looking for me. He liked the food there and he ate well.

I have had no issues with them. They treat my grandmother well, and she seems to be fairly happy there. They definitely care. The only issue is that the food is awful, but that can be overlooked!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Majestic Oaks has made some strides over the years, a pleasant enough facility, but there are some things sorely lacking and in need of improvements. My mother was a rehab patient there about 20 years ago, and is a permanent resident now. The food there is a constant source of complaints. Apparently, there seems to be a lack of accountability. The food is mostly cold on arrival, unappetizing and too many times patients are served cold rice with too many dinners. Personally, I hate rice and would hate the food there also. The elevator is slow to respond and is often tied up with the food or cleaning staff, which is not their fault, but an additional newer, more efficient elevator would be a godsend to all involved. The nursing and administrative staff tries to be helpful, but because of cutting costs by government and insurances, their hands are tied. Too often, I see patients left in the sun room all day with almost nothing to stimulate them. If we had more resources ourselves, other than Medicaid, we would have chosen another site. Also, if some of the aides are not properly supervised, many details of cleaning are ignored, such as the changing of the beds, and cleaning under the beds.
