We live in one of the independent living single home ; 2 bedroom, 2 bath, double car garage. Our home is lovely. New when we move here. Staff interaction is good. Food is okay, neither excellent nor horrible. It probably would compare to what I'd cook, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. We take part in activities, limited to our choices. We're happy. We have been here three years.

We visited Golden Oaks. We're looking at their assisted living, but they are way out of our price range. It's a very nice facility. The folks seemed to be friendly and cordial. My mother used to go out there in the evening to play cards, board games, and such. I think they ate there the night she went. She was very complimentary of their food and food service. The facility looked very nice and clean.

Golden Oaks Assisted Living has been a great facility. The personnel have been wonderful, but it is older and kind of showing its age. My mother’s room is very generous. She has a two-bedroom apartment to herself that includes an efficiency kitchen area as well as a living space. The food is adequate. The social chairman has a variety of activities that encourage all the residents to take part in. There is a beauty parlor on site and an exercise room.

Golden Oaks Village had a beautiful chandelier and looked really homey when you walk in. They had various sitting rooms, some with fireplaces, and a library. I was impressed with the room because it was large, clean, and had a full-size refrigerator and a range. The thing that impressed me the most was that you could order off a menu and eat any time. It was two stories and had an elevator. There was no odor. The grounds were well kept, and there was a pond. It was very appealing. I talked to the recreation director, and she was able to get a room opened for me that had become vacant. The price was very good.

Golden Oaks is older and a pretty good size. The people there seem to be in worse shape, and the care is geared toward them. It's in an attractive area that's nice outside. They were having some entertainment of a guy reading a book review, but the residents were in physically bad shape and didn't seem to enjoy it.

We liked Golden Oaks Village, but I think it would be confusing for my husband because we were looking at duplexes, not adjoining places which would have been better for us. They have several activities. Some of the rooms were nice, but some were smaller and felt a little claustrophobic. The staff took me around and told me what they offered.

I very highly recommend Golden Oaks Village at Stillwater. She really liked it there as they were good to her. She didn’t want to be babied, she wanted to be able to take care of herself even when she couldn’t, and so it was kind; the staff would come in to pick up the trash two or three times a day when really they were checking on her, and I thought that was really nice because they let her have her feeling of self-reliance and still kept track of her very well. The meal setup was very good for her. I think they sat with the same people, and she was very well acquainted. They become real friends with the people in her eating group, so I thought that was nice. Otherwise, she was alone in her apartment, so I think the meals were a primary way that she communicated with people besides her caregivers. They offer a lot of activities; they had exercise classes, dance, and all kinds of stuff. She had played bingo quite often in the dining room, and she had a little group so that was quite a nice social situation.

My Mom and our family are very pleased with this facility. there are great activities! The staff are very compassionate. The dining process is like eating in a restaurant; you get to choose what to eat from a menu and it is cooked to order! The management are always willing to go the extra mile for all of us. This family owned business is by far a corporation and the love and care they put into the residents, employees, and facility really shows.

The facility is okay. There are not many activities other than bingo. The food is not low salt or heart healthy. Most of it is processed precooked food that is warmed. It isn't appetizing or healthy. The decor of the main building is worn and dated. Golden Oaks is the best that Stillwater has to offer but that is soon to change with a new center that is being built. OSU is associated with the new facility and I believe it will be much better for Stillwater.

My best friend is in this facility and we are not happy with the services. They do not respect the residents and sometimes down right hateful. You have to treat these residents like they are your own family members or friends. Everyone has bad days however that is no excuse. I know my friend did not want to be in an assisted living center. But she realized that it was hard for her family and friends to take care of her. Perhaps if you are looking for an assisted living for your loved on, please do not pick this place. The facility was not always clean. Not sure if the cleaning crew were sick or not.
