Nursing Home Communities in Ponca City, OK

"My experience at Shawn Manor last year during Christmas was very beneficial in several different ways. For starters, I was thoroughly enthralled to have the chance to meet several different residents of Shawn Manor and hear personal stories from numerous residents residing there. When first entering the residence I was taken back at how many residents were actually living at the place. With the amount of people all residing in the same location I assumed it would have been quite difficult to maintain the cleanliness of the facility. This was in no way true at all. The residents explained to me the quality of their stay at Shawn Manor and described to me that they were taken care of very well by the faculty who ran the home. I took notice of the room sizes where members of the home lived in. Each room had plenty of space for visiting family, which was a strong point for many residents when it came to deciding between houses to live in. Overall, my experience visiting the Shawn Manor gave me insight to see how the residents lived and went about their lives in a comfortable manor all to be thanked for by the immense and helpful staff working there. "

"My mother did rehab at Ascension Living Via Christi Village - Ponca City. It was very clean. Everyone was very concerned about her health concerns. She had great results with the physical therapy. She said that the food was very good. Her room was fairly large, very well equipped, and clean. She said everyone was very nice and very concerned, making sure she got quality care. I very likely would recommend this facility."

"I personally would not recommend this facility. I would like to say they will try to put on a good front when you place a loved one there. As time goes on they show there true colors. I myself was treated very bad by the administrator. Only because I had concerns how my mother was being cared for. That's where it started. I had to go out there everyday to make sure my mother was fed. She had bed soars from lack of care. Everyday i got there she was laying in wet clothes. They were short staffed frequently. The only time i saw the facility run properly was when the state department came to inspect. If you care about your loved ones,I would not recommend Ponca city nursing home. "

"My wife had her rehab at Hillcrest Manor. One thing I observed is, that their menu is a little heavy on carbohydrates for somebody who is diabetic. They don't offer you much alternative, and my wife is diabetic. I thought the care was pretty good. Obviously, nursing homes today are challenged by labor issues. There were times that people didn't show up, and other people had to work a lot harder. I thought the care overall was pretty good. It looks pretty good. It's a large building. Their overall outside appearance is good. They've got grounds around, and they aren't crowded by other buildings, which is good.They have a couple of nice dining rooms, and there are some places where people can go to get books or watch a movie or so. I would say it's fairly spacious inside. They're not operating at full capacity there and some rooms are not used. So, they do have space to accommodate more people as necessary. For me, the food was fine. But if somebody is diabetic, it seemed heavy on carbs at times. One thing they could improve on is insect control around the vicinity. They also need to look at their food menu and have an alternative menu for people who are diabetic. They need to have a little different menu for them on some of these occasions."

"My Nan moved in last week. She thinks that it is pretty. Every time I call she is busy down in the crafts room or playing bingo. She seems to be having a lot of fun there. "

"What a great experience we had at medicalodges in ark City. The staff is so friendly and makes you feel very welcome. Housekeeping cleaned the rooms daily. They have a hair salon right there and have free WiFi for the grandkids. Food was awesome! In any time we had any kind of his concern it was addressed very quickly. The director of nursing is very knowledgeable amount of disease process or rehab steps. We were so glad our friends recommended them! Thanks again to all the staff at medicalodges in Ark City! "
