My husband was at Sylvania Center. He wasn't getting the therapy that he was supposed to get. When I went up there, he was out of it most of the time. When I asked them to remove some of his medications, they said they would one at a time because they didn't know which one was causing the hallucinations and the other things. My husband also had a hard time swallowing. When he was released from the hospital, he was on a thickener, but he wasn't at this nursing home. He couldn't participate in physical therapy because they had him so drugged up, so he had lost the ability to swallow and was not able to walk. He had such a bad infection in his leg that it looked like it was ready to pop. I wanted him to go to the hospital, but the doctor from the nursing home refused to call the squad. When I got him to the hospital, he was so severely dehydrated that his tongue was black. They couldn't get an IV in him because his veins were like glass and his kidneys had failed. Basically, they couldn't do anything to save him. He was in the hospital for a couple of weeks and I had to make the decision to take him off life support.

Sylvania Center was awful. The rooms have to be totally redone and clean it up since it’s not very clean. The smell in there is like urine, like they didn’t change the people. It was the most horrible place I have ever been in my life. I can’t even imagine putting anybody there.
